This video was so helpful. I have been trying to find an easy way to process .las files for months, and never could gt LAStools to work right. Followed the instructions and it worked great. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the tutorial. I normally do not work with LIDAR data, as an architect I usually get the countours or height points of a certain lot from surveyor and lets generate terrain in a CAD software. But I found out our state cadastre just began to offer las files with terrain data from aerial scanning and this might be useful for a conceptual design at the moments like this when there are tons of snow on the lot and an in/situ surveying might be impossible. I thought there is an easier workaround just to filter the ground points, mesh the cloud with filling the holes where buildings stands and export the mesh as a file that can be import to CAD or Sketchup as a polygons. But your tutorial was the closest way to what I wanted to reach. I just exported the DEM to STL file that I am able to import in a project as a terrain object. Maybe somebody who works in architectural design might know an easier workaround. Just one more question when doing LAS to DEM, what is happenning with the holes and gaps in the point cloud that are left after other classes like buildings, vegetation etc. has been deleted?

Hi bolo, and thank you for sharing your experience with las files. You asked for a really good question. Honestly, I have not idea. I guess that the data points from the cloud are remove and the DEM is interpolating those gaps of information with the closes neighbours. Also, I do not know what type of interpolation is using lastodem. Cheers

Thankyou very much for the tutorial, this was so helpful. Can you make a video How to remove vegetation in DEM data to find the structure underneath?

Can youvplease make a video on snow damages through lider data in qgis ?
@GeoRGBCommunity Жыл бұрын
Thank you for reaching out with your request. I apologize, but I don't have expertise in that specific topic regarding the use of LiDAR data in QGIS to analyze snow damages. I recommend seeking out specialists or dedicated forums on this subject. They might be better equipped to assist you or provide the resources you're looking for.

LiDAR footprints are seen visible in layers, but I opened the legend but it doesn't exist. There isn't any square of data in the map

I can't have access to the LiDAR data today neither. I believe the server is down. You can try on Monday, after Christmas break.

Hi I keep getting "LAStools console output The system cannot find the path specified" but im clicking on a .las file. Do you know what the issue might be ?
@SummerADDE_Elevators Жыл бұрын
LAStools cannot handle space, save the .laz files to the desktop or create a folder in the desktop with a name without space and try again. Worked for me at least.
