Lidl Haul - UK Prepping On A Budget + Too Good To Waste veg boxes

This is my Lidl haul for today, some of the items I've bought to save because of the #costoflivingcrisis and I'll be adding to it over the coming weeks. I bought 2 'too good to waste' boxes, and although they wasn't the most exciting ones, they were still good.
I have some tinned and dried foods to put away to try and combat the ongoing rising costs.
I spent a total of £43.75 at Lidl, and then a large chicken from Tesco which cost £4.25 .... So a total of £48

Tinned potatoes x 3 = 96p pack of 4 sweetcorn = £1.25 pasta x 2 = £1.38 large tin of peaches = £1.35 Pineapple x 2 = £1.90 4 pack of tuna tins = £2.59 Easy chilli = 89p Newgate tin of steak = £1.79 Newgate tin of chilli = £1.35 Freezer bags = 95p ginger biscuits = 39p fruit and nuts mix = £1.49 Brazil nuts = £1.99 Mixed fruit = 99p Tomato mixed grains x 2 = £2 Microwave Egg fried rice x 2 = 70p Bourbon biscuits = 50p Family box of biscuits =£1.99 Fruit and Fibre cereal = £1.29 Cheese slices = £2.99 Danpak spreadable butter x 2 = £4.70 Wash tabs = £3.09 Cif cleaner = £1.25 Peppers = £1.16 Chestnut mushrooms = 69p Pineapple cottage cheese (reduced price) = 59p Too good to waste veg boxes x 2 = £3 1kg red onions = 49p A total of £43.75 I bought a large chicken from Tesco, which was £4.25 = a grand total of £48

The corn is very good, not hard and tasteless like some other budget brands I've tried.

Oh that's really good to know, thank you! I've just done an Asda order for their 'Essentials' range, the yellow label items which are really cheap... I've never tried them, but I've heard so many good things about them!

I kind of know when I'm going to enjoy a new channel, and the 'presenter'😊 It is so good to discover a UK prepper who, like me, is absolutely new to 'all of this', we can all learn together. Brilliant, well done indeed. I live in London so I'll be doing some small preps this week. I've copied your list price as I forget half the stuff I was supposed to get lol. I went to the market today and got all my vegetables and fruit. What I do now chop up all the vegetables and put them in the freezer. As there is just my husband and me at home now, I chop up cauliflower, brocolee, spinage ext and put them in two-portion freezer bags, it's great as during the week I just get got what I need and make dinner with vegetables. I've also made up soup bags with barley, lentils, and bean plus a vegetable cube, put them in my dry cupboard for the working week, and then all I do is buy a chicken like yourself and spread it out. Then I have my lamb and beef mince for other stuff. I have found this way of doing things works so good, and my long-term pantry seems to be getting much better also. I need to focus on batteries, and water now. Thank you so much for posting and I'll be getting them family biscuits in. Have a good week=end.

Thank you very much Delia! Those are some top tips, thank you so much for sharing, I'll certainly be doing all of them in the future! Doing the dry mixes is something I've been thinking about, so I'll definitely be getting some of those prepared and in the store cupboard. I've started buying water, but I only have 5 x 5 ltr bottles at the moment, so I need to buy more. Batteries are on my list of things to buy. I've just got a big Asda order with all their yellow label Essentials range, so I'll be recording a video of that haul tonight, it seems to be really good value! 🌹 💕

Be sure to save the peach juice. Either drink it out make it into a syrup to go with a peach cobbler. If you find directions I bet you can make it into a jelly and keep in the refrigerator.

I always use the juice up, but I just drink it, I'll look at making some jelly with it though as I already make that from other fruit juice.

Be sure to use every bit of the chicken, I just recently made bone broth for the first time, then came down with a cold, perfect timing! Happy crocheting and all the best for you're harvest next year. God bless.

My niece has recently started working at Lidl. Perk of the job is 15% discount for staff using Lidl's app. Her mum and grandfather have taken advantage of this. Her mum works at Aldi and they don't get a discount at all. Additionally Lidl staff are slightly better paid, despite what Aldi might say. My sister has got the ball rolling to make a move to Lidl.

Wow those pineapple slices a few weeks ago were 65p!!!! Can't believe their 95p now 30p mark up is insane!!!! This is crazy how we're living in this day and age, with how far we've come to now be turning off heating and eating shear basics whilst we work our arse off!!! We are in the process of loosing our home due to the mortgage and bills!! 😭😭

Aldi do washing powder is around three ponds and do bio and non bio and there three adults and one almost nine years years old and I only use between forty or fifty grams per wash and it works perfectly and the powder for whites is fantastic and no skin reactions and I usually Get three months out of both types of the washing powder and both types smell lovely, just you may be interested as it does cost so much cheaper, hope don,t mind me mentioning this to you, great haul and so many meals

Memories of making a roast chicken with 8 baking potatoes. Day one: Roast chicken and baked potatoes and available veg. Day two: BBQ chicken thighs (warmed up chicken with homemade BBQ sauce) and drumsticks and potato salad. Day three: cold chicken salad and home fries. Day four: chicken (rest of chicken and bones in crockpot until meat falls away from bones) and potato soup.

Hi Lesley, it took me a while to find any too. But now I go as early in the day as possible... They do tend to put them out in the morning, so I go straight to them. They put them at the front of the tills, nearest to the veg section. Good luck, I hope you manage to find some!
