Lidl's Long Reach Hedge Trimmer. Part 2 (Review/Product Demonstration).

In this video I'm using this machine, the 3 metre mains cable could be longer, to be more practical, although I'm using an extension cable reel, you've still got to drag this around, this machine is also fairly heavy, (7kg) & a little unwieldy to use, when holding it up.

I bought one recently and as soon as I lifted it off the shelf I thought it was quite heavy. After assembling it, which was a bit fiddly I found I needed the harness to support the weight as it was quite heavy at the clipper end. Changing the angle of the cutter was a bit fiddly too. By the time I got a fairly small area cut I had to stop to rest. The on switch needed steady pressure since if you relaxed slightly it would switch off which was annoying. However it cut very well, but I won't be using it very often.

I've only used mine a couple of times, yes it is quite a heavy machine to hold, but I suppose it has to be by its design & length.

Great video mate and thanks for sharing. I got one for myself to use to trim my hedge and trees in the garden. I prefer using this type than the shorter type + ladder. I would advise you wear the safety goggles and if possible also take down the drying line whenever you use the trimmer.

YOU START BY PLANNING YOUR CABLE RUN SO THEY DON'T SNAG OR TRIP YOU UP. I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE SHOULDER SLING, WHICH THIS BLOKE ISN'T USING. IT HELPS BEAR THE WEIGHT, BUT I FOUND GETTING THE RIGHT LENGTH OF LOOP NEEDS EXPERIMENTING IT APPEARS TO WORK BEST (FOR ME) AROUND NECK AND SHOULDER OPPOSITE TO WHICH HAND YOU USE ON THE TRIGGER. A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF BENDING FROM THE WAIST APPEARS NECESSARY TO GET A VERTICAL CUT DOWN TO GROUND LEVEL STILL REQUIRES MUCH ARM STRENGTH. I FIND WALKING BACKWARDS MEANS LESS SNAGGING OF THE BLADE ON THE GROWTH, ALTHOUGH MAKE SURE OF YOUR CLEAR SURFACE BEHIND YOU.
