If something is "almost half the price" of something else it means that something is less than half the price of something else, not more than half the price. This error is made repeatedly. Crisps: M&S £2.30 Lidl 99p : the Lidl ones are over half the price of the M&S ones. Cookies: M&S £2.50 cookies Lidl £1.29 "The Lidl ones are nearly half the price of the M&S ones" Overall: M&S £13.55 Lidl £7.64 "Lidl was almost half the price of M&S".
