RC 'n' stuff alright, so the average hamster is about 3 cubic inches, and the liebherr shovel capacity is around 7.5 cubic meters. so if we convert a cubic meter into cubic inches, you get about 61,023 cubic inches. divided by the number of cubic inches in the average hamster (3) you get 20,341 cubic inches. multiply that by the cubic meters in the liebherr shovel (7.5), you would get about 152,557 hamsters. that is about 7.15 tons of hamsters, considering an average weight of 1.5 ounces for most hamsters. that is also equal to around 5 ford focuses.

When you see the real machine this intimately, you really appreciate how much effort Markus Kossman put into the aesthetics and details, the relative scale of everything, the man must have worked his ass off designing the lego model of this thing. Sucks that he ran out of development time, and thus we got no B-model. But that's the beautiful thing about the fan community, there's nothing stopping us from designing and sharing our own alternative models! Efferman published instructions for turning the model into this bucket configuration (it will require additional pieces though, it appears).

Does this have a different arm than the one the Lego set is based on? The setup for the hydraulic actuators is different, with the 2 for the second arm section being on the top rather than below

This one is in back shovel configuration, the LEGO set is in front shovel configuration.

How many Lego bricks will if in the bucket?
@plug0074 жыл бұрын
I'm so bored at work I done this for you. Based on a 2 x 2 standard lego brick you will fit exactly 15 million. 42sq metre bucket is 42 million cubic centimetres. The small 2 x 2 brick 2.8 cm cubed. 42÷2.8 =15 So 15 million peices haha

They dissasemble the whole thing, then load it onto several trucks, and haul it to the next worksite. The machine is built in a number of modules which can be transported separately.

Lego fan doing video about real excavator that has lego model hold up...
One massive downside of this entire video series, and it's a huge sore point for me; that absolutely terrible lens you've been filming everything with. It completely kills any real sense of scale for the viewer...
@searme4 жыл бұрын
Wide-angle lens is the only way to film something this big from relatively close. With standard lens I would need to stand like half a mile away to get the entire excavator in the frame.
