It's completely mindbogling to me sooo many people are willing to pay this INSANE amount of money for an Unmatched game!

As a Ludos Backer (and volunteer translator), I can add that each time they offer 2 mini-expansions (one free in pre-launch) that mix new rules they thought up for those classics. just got my Asia one, they have an absolute stunning quality and design. and if you love charity. they donate a lot of games and boxes to schools etc.

Looking at many of the campaigns, I'm surprised that the highest backer counts tend to go to the most expensive pledges. It sort of makes sense that these expensive pledges will be hard to obtain later, but that's a lot of money... I wouldn't be surprised if Story of Many delivered a year late. It takes a lot of time to generate, iterate, translate, and edit the vast amount of text it will contain.

Listening to this and Deliverance comes up. I'm backing this one for the new content, but I agree with you that there's plenty of good reasons for others not to do so. You do a great breakdown here. I've got good reasons to be a fan of this specific game, the least relevant of which is that I consider the designer a friend. Also, I have a group of friends who find it really interesting and fun, so that helps too. Knowing there's players who are actively wanting the new content is a good selling point :) A lot of the other games are "I'm curious, but not enough information is available, and doesn't look like it will be until too late to back" or "it looks cool but in a way that doesn't suit my tastes" so seeing your discussion of these games is just reaffirming my decision not to back them. And then there's Rayman, which comes from Ubisoft, which is a whole collection of great reasons not to give it any money. Even without the company as a whole being absolutely horrific, there's the fact that Ubisoft's previous tabletop adaptations have been poorly themed cash-grabs which feel out of touch with the games they're meant to be connected with.

I really enjoy your "why you shouldn't back" videos because even if there's something I'm backing, you share a sensible set of reasons why it's a good idea to be *cautious* about approaching crowdfunding and not jump on every FOMO project!

Cloudspire is one of only a couple of crowdfunding games this entire year that I am backing. It is one of the greatest games I own and sensational in solo. I’m going all in with the new stuff minus the minis which I don’t love as they get in the way.
@TheTintinjb10 күн бұрын
Do you still enjoy it? It feels that people have cooled down quite a bit since it came out and people have moved to TMB. Have they improved rules and rulebooks since the first release?
@SamS-cb5ep10 күн бұрын
@@TheTintinjb I absolutely love it. I’ve only got the second edition rule book but I learnt to play by watching a rules video and then a let’s play or two. It’s no doubt a beefy game but I found it much easier to learn than people said. As with any chip theory game you just need the sheet with the key words next to you while you play. The solo campaigns are so much fun. I would absolutely recommend the campaign books with the stories linking the missions.

Backed Story of Many on day one. The skill system is what I've been looking for in a game. They do have a rulebook but hid it in the FAQ.

For twisted cryptid company games, it seems that they move to other games without fine-tuning them, and all the reviews say that they are missed opportunities.

Im admittedly very disappointed at how well the tmnt unmatched campaign is doing. Its thoroughly overpriced for whats being offered. They are throwing in a bunch of unnecessary items(alt cards) instead of the items they know people want(deluxe items and minis) to make people think they are getting a deal. Even with the IP it should be 150 tops for the all in. Its really not that much gameplay. Those shredder krang hero decks should be part of the base package along with a splinter and casey jones deck for the money being asked

This is where a lot of people will get into Lacerda's. Anf it's not all about playing as much as possible. Chris has tons of games he rarely plays. Just because it's heavy doesn't mean it needs extra justification.

Camping Season by Sweaterbear is one of the more ridiculous games I've seen in a while. $300 for the All-In which includes some slight component upgrades and a few dice towers is crazy to me. I asked them to justify that price, and all they said was "It includes over 700 components!" Not to mention their first game, Bear Mountain Camping Adventure, that hasn't even been delivered to backers yet and has been plagued with issues and controversy since launch.

@VampguyN8510 күн бұрын
Cloudspire is way too expensive for me. And not sure how much I'd love it solo. That's an easy skip from the price alone. Railroad tiles ends today. I backed the big box. Heroes of Might and Magic III already ended also. Wayfairer Tale ends today also. Void Pilot Legacy for solo ends in 13 days and is more expensive than I expected before the campaign. They really like fancy kickstarter exclusive items. I'm skipping TMNT as much as I was a super fan of the turtles as a child. I haven't looked at it much, but it's too big and expensive for all in again. And I'm not sure I'd love the gameplay of an unmatched game. Too many game campaigns, my head is spinning.

While you can definitely get simple games played more easily, the Lacerda games are going to have so much more depth in their gameplay than the lighter games, allowing for a lot more replay-ability. I find my group consistently getting bored of light games after 3-5 plays, whereas we can play more complex ones 20+ times and still want more. Emberleaf's deluxe edition is roughly the same price as the Lacerda game, and Emberleaf looks like it'll get very boring after 5-10 plays, whereas Lacerda's game will be good for a much longer time. But yeah, his games are generally not too expensive on the secondary market, which is blessed.
