UPDATE: I found these minor things to note. 1. It's quite less stressful if you just start a NEW GAME, and do this "lie walkthrough". I honestly can't stress enough, how many times I've played on a PS Cloud saved game, or a loaded saved game on steam, from a previous playthrough and do this guide, ONLY to find out, a dialogue didn't trigger, or something just didn't trigger to raise my "humanity". And just trying to figure out WTF I did wrong. I know, I know, "But I have soooo many hours on a previous gameplay" and "Why start a NEW GAME?!!" Ive committed and gotten so many items and costumes!. Well, it's just my personal experience and two cents, and I'm OCD like that, I like to start anew. So yea.... 2. To trigger dialogue with Venigni regarding choosing "I couldn't hear". This dialogue is 100% triggered after defeating Laxasia. And I've went thru many post and etc etc on reddit, and yadda yadda yadda in reqards to many questions about this step. I've confirmed this thru 3 (NEW GAME) playthrough of the game. (Not NG+). That it really was after defeating Laxasia and not Black Rabbithood, that was the case for me. So yea, after defeating Laxasia. Use stargazer immediately to go back to hotel, and follow video guide accordingly. 3. With my 3 (NEW GAME) plays, I have NOT and I repeat HAVE NOT, been able to obtain "Golden Lie" until after cutscene with Sophia and choosing "Give Her Piece". And this is by following this video guide. With all 3 playthroughs, selected "lie" answer, Went thru the cutscene, saw my hair turn white. Then listened to "ONE" record which I purposedly saved to play, just to confirm my status at "Your Heart Is Pounding" . For which then the potrait showed a "glowing" Golden Lie, which then you can obtain. 4. There may be a time your possibly thinking you can be certain to do a step thing earlier than stated on the guide. For example doing BELLE sidequest. I did it immediately once having access to location and point of interest. By all means, if you have to oppurtunity to do a step earlier than what is in order of this guide. Do so, in hopes you've trigged the scene and dialogue correctly, and selected the right answer to questions. 5. If you are planning to get RECORDS and do this "LIE" walkthrough in one go.This video is the way to go! Ive seen guides which mistakenly gave the wrong choice to make, only to realize late, wait that was wrong!!! and the choices made, resulted in not obtaining a record, in one go, and I couldn't do anything about it. And these are the two things I've seen mentioned in what to do in a "LIE" walkthrough Ive seen elsewhere, which was just a blantant "LIE" (no pun intended) #1 - After defeating Victor, you must answer "In Hopes of A Cure". instead of "Monster" Reason being after Antonia's death, a RECORD will appear on her wheelchair in Geppoto's study, If you chose "Monster" after defeating Victor, well....your SOL #2 - It was said to choose "There's no such puppet" when speaking to Polendina outside near fountain on a certain dialogue. Well don't choose that one, ANSWER: "Show wedding ring" and that is the 100% proper way to obtain "humanity" to getting Golden Lie, in regard to this Truth/Lie decision Hope this helps anyone who took the time to read my comment. Hey great video but I’m here to tell you right now the stalkers greeting is considered the lie. By doing nothing you are being “cold” and admitting you are a puppet which is why she attacks. I can confirm this because after you show stalker greeting, springs will move, which means you got more humanity.

Exactly. Doing the gesture is saying to the NPC 'yes, I am a Stalker'. Of course, you need to get the gesture first in order to use it there.

Also if you still miss humanity you can try: Using the Pray emote on the statue you can interact with on the Path of Misery gives you humanity This one saves my playthrough because I did everything but still missing some (because of wrong choices during playthrough) Good luck gamers!

I did everything in order, only missing the piano performance scene for Antonia and also the last interaction with Arlecchino in person, and was able to get the weapon after choosing the "Give Her Peace" option and listening to the record she gives you

Choosing to do nothing with the atoned does not give you humanity. It should be the “do the stalker pose” option. Also side note it is funny that telling Julian his wife loved him is technically the truth after talking to the escaped alchemist. Funny it is a “lie” since you don’t know it is the truth till later in the game. Ps would be great to have a voice over for the text so those who mainly listen can follow along instead of trying to read the small text. Great guide overall.

I listened to every record, took about an hour & something, then did the pray for added humanity, did the whistling for the dying boy, brought the woman her baby & the guy his wedding ring. Once the cut scene was over & his hair was gray, I went to krat hotel & was able to retrieve it

Just to help ppl avoid spending mats before getting the sword. I followed this guide exactly and had max humanity before talking to Sofia. I had the 3rd rank for awhile before the island. My hair turned white and I listened to the record from Sofia before going to check on the sword and I was able to take it. So if you follow this guide exactly and get the white hair you can get the golden lie right after the luxasia fight. I did.

Something Interesting happened, I'm in NG+ before meeting Sofia to give her peace. I've just collected all the records and checked if the Golden Lie was ready to pick-up, it wasn't. I had to leave the house so played all songs for 3 hours non-stop and when i came back I could pick-up the Golden Lie before meeting Sofia and my hair isn't even white.

IMPORTANT.... After watching your video, literally right after I chose to keep Sophie alive, I thought I messed up completely, I went back and tried to grab the golden lie but it was locked still I went and played one record that I had left and went back and even after I made the mistake with Sophie I was able to get the weapon My hair did not turn gray but I was able to receive it off the wall so this is not a mandatory thing. After watching your video I was so upset I literally thought I had to do it and new game plus but that's not the case so I wanted your viewers as well as for you to know this fact. I think it's possible to get the last level before talking to Sophia, but only if you gather a whole lot of humanity before reaching the Isle of Alchemists. I got the "Your heart is pounding" message after speaking to Arlechinno and selecting the "Human" option.

I have the Grey hair and "Heart is pounding" level of Humanity but the Golden Lie isn't big enough/hasn't spawned for me. The only 'Lie' option I missed was Alidoro/Euginie. I came to Alidoro at the end of the Brotherhood rematch, but didn't have the option the attack him, so I must have missed part of the quest, thus not being able to tell Euginie the lie. That was my 4th playthrough, I assume I'm going to have to start a 5th now... Fuming.

@SubmarineBear I did, unfortunately. Twice all the way through! Even prayed in front of the statue as well. It turns out I had used a dodgy guide on the Internet and 50% of the 'Lies' were actually Truths 🫠 Luckily I've found this gem of a video, so loading up playthrough #5 and I'm just about to take on Laxasia. Although, I have missed one Lie on this playthrough 😪 After killing Alidoro, I ran down and took the Sub to Chap 11, then teleported from there to the Hotel to decrypt etc. In doing this, I wasn't able to talk to Venigni and Lie and about not hearing the Telegram and then also listen to the King of Puppets message. Hopefully these don't have too much of an effect...

Let me clarify something to those whom are late to the party. I picked up the portrait later after 1st encounter with Black rabbit brothers. Before that i already started the side quest and lies. As shown in the video where you do nothing which is not a lie i still managed to get the weapon after the encounter with gepetto in jail and saying yes so if you follow the video you will surely get it. Can confirm: You *can* get this weapon *before* you find (redacted) in the tower. I just beat (redacted) on the bridge, right before I went into the next room I wanted to make sure if I needed to give (redacted) peace or not. I listened to the second to last record I got from (redacted) passing. My heart was pounding is how far my humanity went. And it was about the 2nd or 3rd time I got that message. TLDR if you have enough humanity you don't need to get too far into the story (note this was on NG+ so that may be a factor)

If I do all the humanity things and lie all but 1 time to Eugenie about Alidoro after you kill him, will my golden lie end up full gold again by the end of the play through? I need to get the final record from Eugenie and tell the truth about Alidoro in order to get the last 2 achievements but I don’t want to prevent my golden lie from reaching full gold again. Update: after doing some research, I found out that either way that you answer Eugenie about Alidoro after you kill him grants you humanity so I’ll be able to get the golden lie full gold and get all my achievements!

I'm getting insanse with this weapon, I just ended my 4th NG+ and the last 3 of them were only with the intention to get this weapon. I followed this guide step by step and I still can't get what's missing for me, the tip of the nose it's golden already but it isn't glowing. I have "Your heart is pounding" and grey hair but I still can't get the damn weapon Edit: Well, I read in a Steam forum that you need to trigger a total of 3 "Your heart is pounding" in order to actually get the golden lie after all the choices throughout the game. In my case I didn't trigger the Venigni "I couldn't hear" dialogue, but at least I still had a record to listen and the pray emote in the Path of Missery. The margin if very tight tho so try to follow the guide as exactly as you can

​@@acedia8085 No, as the video says, you can't get "Your heart is pounding" before talking to Sophia (not sure if this is 100% true but at least that is how it happened to me so let's take it as a fact). After giving peace to Sophia, the interaction with Gepetto and the fight against the Nameless Puppet triggered "Your heart is pounding" one time each, then before NG+ I couldn't take the Golden Lie. So just after listening to some vinils and triggering "Your heart is pounding" for the third time I was able to take it from the painting. Hope my answer was helpfull, feel free to ask me anything

So I’m not sure is someone has already said this, but you actually get more humanity for telling Eugenie the truth that Alidoro is her older brother, I’ve tested this versus lying to her and know this to be a fact, the nose on the Portrait grew way more when I told her the truth, I did a reload and compared the growth coming out of the portrait and there was way more leaves telling her the truth versus lying to her and it said my heart was pounding with the truth versus warmth when I lied to her.

I was able to pick up the weapon immediately after my hair turned white. Before talking to Gepetto and before the Manus boss fight. I even missed some of the Humanity Gains you listed because I chose something different. But I've done most all of the side quests and I think I was still able to get it because of listening to all of the records.

I didn't even know about Golden Lie until AFTER I finished the game. I listened to all the records I found (9), gave Sophia peace (but I didn't lie to Manus), hair changed color, refused to offer my heart to Gepetto, got the good ending (P even shed a tear), and I could pick up the cat, but Golden Lie still wasn't available. What did I miss?

@@Yeikzo Honestly I have no idea why it's not working for you, but I literally had 1 playthrough and 3 NG+ off of that original playthrough and only this guide worked for me. I'm guessing you've done all of the extra stuff the guide says to do, listen to records and such. The only extra step I took was making sure everytime the player in the guide got the message on screen for whisper, warmth, and pounding, I got it as well, if I didn't I played the video on, did the next step and caught up. I actually reached pounding before the guide.

Yes you can. i did the stalker greeting, told alidoro the truth and told simon the the cure created monsters and i still got the weapon. you just need high humanity which can also be obtained from seemingly random things like listening to vinyl records and buying from giangio.

I’m now confuse. How do you get the painting before talking to the Atonned ? Update: there’s a lot of stuff wrong in the video. _u can get the golden lie before talking to Sophia in chap XI. _u can get the « your heart is pounding » reaction before talking to Sophia in chap XI. _u need to find the painting at first in chap V. _don’t give the baby in chap II before having the painting. _don’t kill The Atonned at the ferry, use the emotes u got from killing the stalker in Chap III. (look up other com some people are talking about it) _Alidoro will talk to you no matter what you do to avoid him in chap IV so lie to him as you would’ve done. _when Arlechinno will ask if you’re a killer say NO! LIE to this mf (It gives more humanity and u get the key to encounter him by opening the box he give u after that but u need the other keys so follow the guides regarding those questions)

After talking with sophia and your hair changes to gray you can immediately go to the hotel and pick the weapon.

if you chose "No" when asked if you are a killer make sure you use the surprise box in order to get the chosen ones trinity key :))

the only part this guide misses and exactly where i thought i failed, stupid not examining the box and wondering why i dont have the final key.. Followed this guide to a tee, saw your comment. and literally the final thing i needed to do to get the golden lie. such a simple, yet important oversight of actually using tye surprise box to get the key. i think i did everything you possibly can do, even listened to all records you can get and got the "your heart is pounding" after talking to the king of riddles. i couldn`t pick the weapon yet afterwards but after defeating Laxasia and listened to the record you get from Antonia after her passing and listened to it, so i got another "your heart is punding". then i was able to pick the Golden Lie after resetting the area. i dont even have the grey hair yet. so it is possible to get the Weapon right before talking to Sophia. not sure if it`s possible to get it any earlier as i must have done everything.' anyway, i thought it was interesting you can get the weapon before the sophia choice and the grey hair

Just a heads up, I was able to pick up the weapon before even fighting Manus, so this step is obsolete if you lied and did most of the sidequests :>

U don’t need to start over if u don’t give her peace, atleast in ng+. I got to “your hearts pounding” played three records and was able to pull the golden lie out. Good luck guys. Keep trying even if u don’t give her peace every humanity point counts!

The grey hair is NOT required for the weapon, is obtainable only if you tell enough lies and have enough umanity, the grey hair is only "outfit".

I am absolutely the unluckiest when it comes to women in this game. I fought the bosses before completing quest which ultimately lead to 3 women dying in my campaign 😭 the first being Cecile, then the White Ladys sister and now Belle

Time but I only have a few trophies to go, including the “story of one father” trophy which I have to get by giving my heart because I got the other endings already. Wait a minute, How are you able to progress to chapter V and get the portrait and then go back to chapter IV to talk to the Atoned to "do nothing" without fighting her?? If you complete the cathedral (chapter IV) she will attack you.
