I have a pretty good grasp on this topic, so maybe i can help you approach the game differently. I just recently started playing souls-likes and the first thing I can tell you is that this game is designed more methodically. With the skill tree, upgrades, and ergo rate, the methods they use making the scaling feel pretty rough at first. The big difference between this game and other souls-likes is it's demand to use everything you have. Im talking summons, consumables, grindstones, legion arms, different gear, etc. Theres not many bosses that hit light, and mini bosses are almost as strong as main story bosses. So using different gear with different resistances is actually viable. Figuring out the best build for your playstyle and building around it is essential in this game due to the ergo rate, so the entry can be tough. But man does it pay off. The combos you can hit, the chains you can have on bosses, because they make you use everything, a really good pull feels like a straight up movie. I found struggle until I realized that you have to be super observational and locked in on the opponent at all times. There are problems with scaling, the parry window/ perfect window needs to be more forgivable, but honestly when you are very aware when fighting all enemies you really feel yourself improve and overcome. Hope this helps and its tough you didnt enjoy your time champ.

It automatically puts you in a bad light, considering the game is advertised as a SOULS-LIKE game, meaning you bought the game, either KNOWING it was a souls-like game, just to hate on it, OR, you failed to do any research whatsoever, as it says SOULS-LIKE in the description of the game. Sekiro Platinum here, beat NG+10, Lies of P is artificial difficult, Sekiro teach you how to play, so with skill and desire, even newbie overcome and can beat the game, just like other FromSoftware games like Dark Souls or Bloodborne. LoP simply egoistic make difficult because devs wanted to hype on "we are harder than FromSoftware". Your parry literaly so small so normal human cant react to attack, you need to learn it like Pavlov's Dog. They literally placed DS2 slow character against sekiro enemies on crack.

i definitely do think this game has a huge difficulty spike especially with two phase bosses but i’d like it if the parry window was given an extra 2 frames. just let the game go for a little, come back to it and really use every mechanic possible and i hope then you’ll find enjoyment in it.

I just finally beat the Puppet Master right before Hotel Krat. LOL but it was my fault, I wasn't utilizing my stagger attacks and paying attention to the white outline to do the special attack that does good damage and the electric bombs were extremely helpful 😎👌

Bro i understand your frustrations i really do. But try this before u give up all the way on lies of p. " First change your controls to swap out light attack and heavy attack. Switch them. R1 is now light and r2 heavy. Also change dodge button from b or o to a or x. Also do the same with left make block and legion arm switch . That way u can deflect attacks easier. For the map issue of yours, that is actually a real life skill that can be learned for navigation. If you need to have a map in a game with pretty decent navigation then perhaps you need to touch up on that skill. As for the game being difficult...ironically it isn't all that difficult for fromsoft games. There are some, but it ends up being a matter of playing to the bosses rhythm. Kind of like a zelda boss but more cinematic. These souls-like games don't seem to get that and will have taxing rhythm changes just to make it harder. It might come as a surprise, but learning midir from ds3's dlc actually taught me this lesson best. Learning the head strat makes the fight infinitely more enjoyable that trying to fight his feet. It made his fight probably my most favorite boss in all fromsoft games. You're welcome to not like the games as is your opinion. I don't know if it'd be possible to explain why beating these bosses gives such a fulfilling thrill unlike bosses of other games. But that is the reason, there is something that us fans find fulfilling about overcoming the challenge, and I'd wager it is because the boss is a vehicle for overcoming our own shortcomings. My best example is demon of hatred from sekiro. It took me beating it twice to feel like I'd won because it affected me in a negative way the first time. Beating it the second time felt like I'd overcome that hatred that I felt for it because I didn't rage the second playthrough. It also had made me feel more in control... Probably doesn't make much sense...since it is hard for me to put into words, the best synopsis I can give is, you didn't fail to beat the game, you were beaten by yourself. Beaten by the tilt...which still can kick my ass as well. But then, I'm just of average skill.

I will say the combat in lies of p isn’t that great but that’s my only problem the difficulty is up there but they have systems that you only unlock in like later chapters that give you boosts there’s a whole skill tree you only unlock in chapter 3 and it gives you the option to make your dodge better stagger longer stuff that lowers the difficulty a decent amount. (Also) special attacks from what I’ve seen do about 7x a base attack that’s on the few great swords that I’ve used.

Hey man, good points for not liking the game, for thinking it's bad. I find myself some of this reasons for thinking its good tho, yk, just presenting a different pov: 1. Not having a map in this linear of a game, i dont find that a problem, but more like a compliment. From whereever you stand, the way forward is always either in the front of you, left, right, above or down. Exploration in those kind of games feels more rewarding without a map. 2. The difficulty is the key positive point for these games, but only when done right. This time around, its not done right. Too difficult for what its offering. Not too difficult as to not be beaten, but those parry windows, the dashes and the hitboxes can definitely be better, they still decided to make it unpleasantly difficult. 3. Having no poise whatsoever is a shit move. Youre telling me all the enemies can withstand 5-6 attacks from me but I can none? How am i supposed to land a >heavy< attack? The combat could be much more fun if we were given more flexibility. 4. The damage is actually low, but the catch is you either like it like that, or not. Over all, this game is such a hit or miss, you either like it or you hate it for what it gives you.

Really good video mate. Though, I did enjoy the game overall I do see and understand your points. Would you consider giving it another chance? The game has been patched twice to balance the game possibly due to complaints from the players, and I am all for fairness and balance as I feel when I die at times, it is the game's fault and not mine. An example of this is when fighting the second final boss, he leaps so far into the sky and off the player's screen, I have to guess when he decides to come crashing down. There is a difference between difficult and artificial difficulty which is straight up bullshit. I'm not the op but you know what I'm replying to this because you are wrong, no they are not and have never been about difficulty, this is something redditors and fortnite kids came up with, despite the nonsense people say, demon souls, dark souls, dark soul 2, dark souls 3, bloodborne and even elden ring are easy games, the only game was was slightly hard was sekiro, the difference between the original actual good souls games and games like sekiro, lies of p and fallen dynasty is that unlike real souls games those 3 try to force the difficulty on the player, demons was more or a puzzle game and once you figured out the strategy i was a joke, in dark souls 1 you can easily get a one shot set up and kill almost everything, that and the infinite humanities lets you heal as many times as need, dark souls 2 let you get 99 of every life gem and was incredibly broken in many aspects, the only challenge is if you forget to level adaptability, in ds3 you have so many rolls that you can just spam your way out of everything, if you use the ring that muffles you can just walk past most enemies and almost all bosses give you some npc or help, in blood-borne you can jump dump points into arcane throw fire bombs at enemies until you get arcane and then you can use those blood phantoms to cheese most enemies, even if elden ring you can play as a astrologer and comet azur everything to death while the mimic takes aggro with the only challenges being mallenia and when you find the items can stop her waterfowl that is gone as well, the difference between those games and games like sekiro, lies of p and fallen dynasty or even nioh 2 is that these "hard" games try to force the difficulty on players who are clearly not looking for, souls games respect the player and give him options to make it easier while those fake souls games are so obsessed with the hard reputation that they feel like they have to force it on you in every single chance, as if a person who doesn't like difficulty having fun would be the end of their career, so that is the difference real souls games don't care about feeling hard while p like games are desperate to force it you like they are screaming "look I'm so hard" to the point they don't respect players choice and make the rpg aspects of the seem non-existent since there is only one right way to play

This game could have been amazing but the combat is awful, your slower then every enemy, you can’t cancel attack animations with block or dodging, you can’t roll off the ground if you get knocked over. Enemies have loads of stagger while you have none. You hit them with three charges heavy’s and nothing happens while you get nut tapped and get staggered. They’ve tried copying dark souls sekiro and bloodborne should have streamlined it. Parry sucks it’s the worst possible game play style and game forces you to play that way. Perfect parry gives no benefit. Doesn’t stop enemy combat even briefly, doesn’t give you a passive bonus to stamina regain. Block animation is slow so perfect parrying is a test of patience and fury. Heavy attacks will get you killed so just light attack until you eventually get the chance to break the stamina 🤬

Yo Boss I beat this game with out use of summon or throwables and I’m here to tell you I am not good. Anyone saying get good needs to just shut the hell up. I will say these fights are not easy and it does take trial and error and repetition. But when you get the bosses move set down and you are reacting to what he is doing and you finally own him there is no feeling like it anywhere in gaming. I think from your video it sounds like you are dodging and aren’t blocking much and in this game the block till their health bar turns white then hit them with a charged heavy is way too strong and dodging is used in certain situations but this game is much more about the parry system like a Sekiro. Hopefully you give it another go at some point because this is really the first non FromSoft game that is in the same tier as their games but if not just know that this community around these games aren’t all condescending a holes 🤔🤷‍♂️✌️

First of all, friendly tip, back away from the mic. Or at least invest in a mic shield. It's a bit difficult to hear your point when you breathe so heavy and close to it. So a couple points on your complaints. Typically souls like games don't have maps because the areas are so linear and tightly build. Elden ring had a map because of the shear size of the game. Also, it encourages exploration and paying attention to your surroundings, which is important because of the enemy layouts. Put a mini map in there and you'll get distracted and get mobbed. Second, perfect guard is the most important mechanic in this game. Get a perfect guard and you negate all damage from that attack. Third, the grinder. When in the boss fight, back away from the boss and use it. Anyways, don't quit yet bub. The game is all about learning the bosses move set and acting accordingly. I started spending days on a single area, and now I'm so good I run through half the game in 2 hours.

I think Elden ring made it easy with the first boss you didn’t have to kill it to continue in fact it was an optional boss if you wanted to defeat every boss ot farm the chicken where mhog is otherwise you didn’t have to kill it to complete the game unlike other DS games. You had summons that helped I find the Sumon in lies of p useless sometimes it just wanders of before ppl say anything I know it’s there to distract the boss but sometimes it doesn’t even do that the amount of time I’ve almost killed the boss and the Sumon is the other side of the arena just chilling and I’ve died which is frustrating and the fact you can’t roll out of the animation is a nightmare but saying that is a great game 😊😊

You made some good points about some of the weakpoints of Lies of P. I admit the game has a fairly steep learning curve. I too had difficulty with the first boss, but that's simply because this was only my second Souls-like game I ever touched. So figuring out boss attack patterns in Souls games was still very new to me. And yes, without the game providing a map, figuring out the way from Point A to Point B can be confusing in some areas. Still, for the most part, navigating through environments in Lies of P is pretty much straightforward. However, one place where I have to disagree with you is how you generalized the Souls and Souls-like genre. Just because you have difficulty playing such genre doesn't mean that it is bad overall. I myself have difficulty playing and understanding sports games, but I don't consider them to be bad. Sports games overall are just not my favorite genre the same way that Souls-like isn't yours.

Personally, I believe that these games are great. It’s my own opinion, but I hated souls likes at first. I quit Ds1 the first time I played it for 2 years, then it collected dust and I decided to come back. 30 hours later, I was hooked and now I’m addicted to the series. I think you should give it another try and see how you feel. These games aren’t for everyone though, I respect your opinion.

Screw the niche, no-life Souls community that praises these bullshit, 80s wannabe games(some of which are in this comment section). Especially the Souls clones that DONT do their own thing, that copy every single thing FromSoft does. Such as no mini map. Even the few Souls clones that DO try something else like SteelRising, are guilty of no mini map. That game has a waypoint system, but you'll be backtracking alot, which is a pain without a mini map. Speaking of, there is no damn challenge when looking for anything. It just drags on the game length because its too easy to get lost. Oh, and first boss in every Souls game, there's nothing Beginner about it. I was done with the Lies Of P demo after that bs boss, mainly because the demo limits your lvl ups. Meaning no lvl grinding to bypass that unfairness. Lastly, back to SteelRising, thats one of the few GOOD Souls clones. That Assist Mode is the best, you can set if you want infi. health, fast stamina regain & no xp loss after death. The game design stays intact, but there's no frustration. And SteelRising is ACTUALLY a Bloodborne clone, unlike Lies Of P. Besides the lack of a mini map, the game's combat isnt as smooth as Bloodborne. But they did try to replicate it. So, SteelRising isn't a hellhole. Same for Remnant: From The Ashes & Final Fantasy: Stranger Of Paradise. That no-life Souls community praises Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne & the shitty Souls clones because theyre stuck in the 80s just as much as FromSoft are.

Jeez man. It’s not that serious, if you don’t like the game just move on or don’t buy them. Doesn’t mean there is something wrong with those of us who do enjoy it. Hell, I’m not even good at these games and I love them. Just takes time to learn and you need to enjoy the process not just trying to get through it. If you just want to run through a game to beat it, it will never happen in a souls game. I’ll say, the reason I coke back is that feeling of accomplishment after failing on a boss for 10-20 or even 50 tries and finally besting it. It a big adrenaline rush and feeling of doing it. Anyways, it’s not for everyone, all good.

Some other team made it. Its fair to expect something else, but that damn demo. Or let's look at God Of War 4 & 5. Thats a whole other franchise, one I've been a fan of for years. Yet 4 & 5 had those Valkyrie & Berserker fights, which were just Dark Souls bosses. Lastly, there is no "sense of accomplishment". Only the "about time, fuck this game" feeling after beating a boss after so many attempts. In FromSoft's case, they expect players to NOT grind early, leading to multiple deaths. Such design is lazy & outdated, gives the ILLUSION of challenge. Makes things seem tougher & harder than they really are. And then there's the Lies Of P demo limiting lvl ups, stopping you from grinding. So you're GUARANTEED to die multiple times.
