Fun fact: The gigantic turbine on the back of the King of Puppets' torso is a cooling fan that's here to prevent Romeo from overheating, hence why his outer shell blows up as soon as it stops working.

After knowing everything, I’m realizing this music, isn’t for us, it’s for him. This is Romeo’s last chance to save krat. This intense boss music isn’t for us to hear, it’s for him. We are supposed to feel his adrenaline pumping as this is his fight. Romeo doesn’t want to kill us, but he feels there is no longer a choice, what a perfect OST for him.

It’s a theme for the both of them. Pinocchio and Romeo are both desperately fighting to save Krat, but unfortunately we’re manipulated into fighting the other. A fight that should’ve resolved in minutes has now been taken to the next level. Pinocchio’s determination to defeat the cause of the Puppet Frenzy clouds his judgement, while Romeo’s resolve to save his friend wavers recognizing the threat Pinocchio pushing the battle forward. It’s like a play, except one of the characters is aware of script. Romeo’s conflicting morals and the stakes wagered on this battle are so intense the track is elevated to match that climatic stress.

He was close friend that tried to make a deal with the devil to stop the frenzy, but he cannot for all puppets except p must follow rule 0, and 1.

He was human at some point but had Geppetto turn himself into a puppet after contracting the petrifaction disease, Geppetto did this so they would all blame Romeo and not him for starting the Puppet Frenzy, but Romeo only ever fought to protect humans from the carcasses and the alchemists, but his programming forced his hand

They really just put the best boss in the game as a halfway point, crazy lol. Idk why but Romeo's movements remind me of raiden from mgs especially that fury attack where he's on his scythe about to heel kick you

It’s probably because he also looks a lot like Raiden. Blond hair, mechanical body, one eye being different than the other (one of Raiden’s is covered), not to mention that the lens flare eye is smth that Raiden has on some promotional art, and then lots of fast slashing attacks which are also reminiscent of Raiden. This has to be a reference, there’s no way it’s all a coincidence

0:54 The way I didn't expect this game to be more than a quick souls itch scratcher and then I got to Romeo here and his aggression was so incredible I realized this game is a masterpiece on its own. The theme right here was also perfect for his intensity.

I think no official souls game has the narrative abilities of some of the writing at play here (dont get me wrong there are deep and interesting characters in souls, we just never see such real and meaningful evolution like that of the protagonist and gepetto)

I love how the initial scene could be interpreted differently by the player depending on their perception. You might initially think he’s showing you how P was made - taking the heart from Carlo to power P which you might then infer is why Romeo wants to fight you - he’s distraught over the death of his friend and wants revenge However, you realise after the fight that Romeo didn’t want to fight you at all - he was doing everything in his power to stop you from following Gepetto, including sending messengers to warn P. You then begin to realise that the show isn’t something that has happened, it’s a warning of what will happen and Romeo is just desperately trying to save his friend

After raging over the Black Rabbit Brotherhood for a while, and getting impatient with Rosa Isabelle street as well as the Opera House, I managed to beat the first phase of this boss on my first try... ...then proceeded to get my ass kicked by Romeo. I couldn't even be mad -- the music lifted my mood in the middle of that fight!

There’s a lot of symbolism with the title “burnt white” Romeo seeks to destroy the ergo infused monsters plaguing Kratz. Even while he was ordered to eliminate most of Kratz he still aspires to purify humanity. White means pure, so pure flames from the puppets will cleanse Kratz. Would make sense considering how puppets were organized in places such as Andreus’s cathedral or Lorenzini’s arcade fighting the ergo zombies.

This would’ve been a better final boss than The Nameless Puppet imo. P having to fight the first person who ever showed him real and unconditional love because he’s been warped into a desperate, tragic fighter for a fallen city is much more meaningful than just fighting a cyborg that was made by Gepetto for the sole purpose of being a failsafe for if P rebels.

Nameless Puppet is Carlo's dead body, and depends on your perspective, P having Carlo's memories & personality means that he's literally fighting his own dead body. Both Romeo and NP are important bosses emotionally, they can't replace each other.

This entire transition is epic The beautiful opera house is set ablaze, Romeo emerging from these flames with glaring vengeance (wielding a comically large back-scratcher as a scythe I’ll add) The music booming as the spectacle of your clash evolves. Flames erupting with every slash, dash, and stomp. everything is being torn to pieces as the fight intensifies. It feels like a dual of fates. The hype you get from this battle is second to none. Unlike the other bosses where you feel more like you’re defending yourself from a monster, Romeo’s duel feels like you’re clashing with a boss. The fact you can stagger Romeo with the force of your attacks, how he will try to counter you with a block, the satisfaction of countering his best attacks with a combination of perfect parry’s and dodges. It’s so anime and I love it.

The comically large backscratcher kind of took on a different meaning in the context of the arena. The stage showing what the future holds for "P" and warning about Geppeto, it's clearly a future Romeo wants his friend to avoid. The shape of his scythe reminds me of those canes used to pull someone off stage, though it carries a double meaning because it's bladed. Romeo's goal is not only to save Krat, but to also save his best friend. He wants to not only pull you out of Geppeto's Play, but to also cut the strings holding Carlo back from becoming a human.
