People serving in Canada's military find it challenging to avoid being homesick when deployed on overseas missions for long stretches.
This is one of the primary reasons why recruitment numbers are low, especially considering deployments typically last three years.
With exclusive access to HMCS Montréal, Mackenzie Gray hears how some sailors cope with life at sea and what the Royal Canadian Navy is offering to new recruits, with no strings attached.

This is my big brothers ship 😢 I knew he was deployed, and a memeber of the serving military - but up until a few days ago, and that close call with the Chinese ship in the Taiwan straight, it hadnt really sunk in how dangerous it really is. @@grandmufftwerkin9037 if we had bought into the first batch of F-35's we would have been stuck with an inferior rendition at a higher unit cost and with all the teething problems of a new design. @KZbin musicboarding party he says .. but I tell you what is entertainment is russia with 1950s T-55s in Ukraine, and can barely get control of lil ol Bakhmut, which you cant find on a decent scale map btw, the battle of which for Bakhmut as long or longer than the Battle of stalingrad ,Progozhin having literaly screamed for ammo in front of his dead men, very publicly chewing out both Gerasimov and Sholgu ,and wagner withdrawing from bakhmut. and russia not in or near Kyiv or Kharkiv or Odessa ,or even Dnipro , some russian conscripts also with century old Moisin nagant rifles. So thats entertainment . meanwhile Canada about always with ships in both the Western pacific and also in the Baltic, or Med working with the Allies in all those regions , in with large, or huge exercises like that of Rimpac last yr , 22 countries with 25000 personnel and over 40 ships and subs, the worlds largest naval exercises ,and incl Canadian ships ,as many as Japan ,or Australia had in that exercise , and a Canadian admiral as deputy / second in command overall, second only to the US commander

All this is great but you know the biggest bottleneck here? The recruitment process. I am in the pool for about 3 months now. The recruitment centre can't provide me with a timeline and the process seems to be broken. If there are shortages, etc then improving the recruitment process will go a long way. There needs to be an analysis as to why does it take so long? And if they are in such dire needs should they not expedite the process? The only news I see is of shortage, why dont you cover the abysmal recruitment process which is a dark spot for anyone to enter.

Taiwan has their own money, they have their own passport, they have their own friendship and business center (ie embassy) in our an other countries, they have their own visa when entering Canada and are less restricted than people from the PRC, they have their own navy, army, air force, and export weapons to other countries too. They identify as Taiwanese not PRC. They are known as Taiwanese by everyone I know and everyone I know that is not CCP Chinese.... = Taiwan is a sovereign country ..... the countries rolling their eyes and stating one-china-policy are simply playing along with the charade en par with the "Emperor Has No Clothes" to not upset silly China (yet we are all just snickering at the CCP when they leave the room). The situation reminds me of the pretense of a trans man pretending he is a woman and everyone is pretending he is a she to be polite but the reality is different.

Life at sea seems far more preferable than being a landlubber. *Especially* given the existence of tools like *Amesit (NTC Vulkan report by Mandiant)* being used across social media platforms to get people to vote a certain way. It is much better to work on a ship where mobile devices and the internet are restricted to prevent social engineering by foreign adversaries. Civies have no cyber protections against those tools that are used to infest their social media feeds to divide them from their fellow Canadians.
