It's not about the stories of the prophets rather the book compiles some of the benefits derived from the stories of the prophets عليهم الصلاة والسلام. If you aren't aware of the stories then you might not understand some of the benefits mentioned in the book. It does mention few parts of the stories here and there to mention the benefits but it is few in comparison to the rest of the book.
