Sorry for your loss and I hope the upcoming days are not too hard on you. You got this. I had a very similar situation when my grandpa passed away. His health had been deteriorating for awhile, so we knew that we becoming soon. One afternoon my mom called me (I was at college at the time) and told me that it wasn't looking good so they were going to go to the nursing home to be there and she would keep me updated. Later that evening I was hanging out with some friends and got a phone call. I went to my room to answer because I knew it would be my mom telling me that my grandpa had passed away-which it was. I didn't say a thing to anyone though, I just went into the living room and watched Frozen. I even made a trip to my friends college the next day to stay there for the night and go see a show because that's what I was planning on doing. My parents thought some normality was best in the situation. I had similar reactions to you as well. It is a part of life.

I'm sorry for your loss, I hope you take the time you need for this. I'm not in this situation... not now but my grandma is 92, not healthy anymore and more at hospitals in the moment as at home it's getting worse, worse & more worse... I visited her, she told me: "I will miss you and I'm sry I won't be at your 30th b-day anymore..." I never had seen her this emotional, I just hope she's not suffering anymore that hard on her last way.... Feel you, have to cry now... I hope all of us who have a loss, can remember the "being" they lost in good.

I want to give you a hug, cause I have lost three grandparents and my mom so I know how this feels. And I'm really happy for you and your new partner. And I really hope you find a new job soon. You seem just as passionate about air quality as I am about water quality. (Also I start my environmentally engineering major in a little over a month and I am so excited)

internet hugs are appreciated. I'm actually equally passionate about all aspects of the environment, which is lucky for me because I'm interested in so many jobs, but it makes it harder to tell people what I want to do with my degree lol.

Become an environmental engineering superhero and environmentally engineer all the things! Or maybe like compliance work? Too bad the government is messing with the EPA right now. Also, I may have the opportunity to do lab assistant stuff hella early in school (like spring semester freshman year) and I have over two semesters worth of credit already cause of APs and I'm just. So excited.

haha when I was in high school I literally said I was doing EnvE to save the world, so that sounds great. I'm so glad you're excited! I know the first year can be especially hard for us because general engineering classes aren't always so related, but lab work is cool!
