This video is a beautiful tribute to my mother and is meant to shed some light on what life has been like to be a caregiver for my mom over the past 7 years. The hope is to also educate others on being a caregiver and what it takes in terms of looking after your loved one and also yourself. Mom will always be with us in spirit and as our journey in life continues, whatever Chef Pops and I do, mom's presence will always be felt. One day we will see you again mom. Mom will always be with my dad and I in spirit and we will continue to move forward and live life to the fullest until it is our time to meet mom again! She would want us to be good kind people and to care for those in need so we will do our best to carry forward the teachings of mom. In accordance with her nature as much as this is a tribute to mom, I hope this video also is a support, motivation and inspiration to others who may be going through similar situations or facing difficulties in life. I also hope it is educational and informative. Remember to do your best and know that we all have to go through ups and downs but keep the faith and keep fighting till the end. None of us are going to be on earth forever, but for as long as we are here lets make the best of it. Thanks so much for coming by and watching the tribute for my mom. It has been just over a year since she passed and every single day I am at peace knowing that I spent as much time with her as I could along with my dad and we made her very comfortable and happy all those days. I would do it again in a heart beat. Being there for your mother for over 8 years is a true blessing and although I personally know how much dedication and physical and mental challenge it is to do this, your mom is truly blessed to have you. Many seniors are sadly neglected and left alone and without the dignity and care they deserve. So it is amazing that you are an amazing caregiver and I know your mom is truly thankful for that care and love from within. With my mother I could see the joy and gratitude in her eyes daily even when she couldn't speak with the words, her eyes spoke to me. I never had to really talk to my mom to feel her love gratitude. You only have one mother so it is only right to make the most of it and live with joy daily, no matter the challenges you go though. Life is full of ups and downs and you must find the courage to face both. It really gives you strength as a person. I am on a new journey now but that experience makes me who I am today and I move forward with a lot of peace because of it. Feel free to dialogue with me anytime. There is no replacing mom. I am looking forward to the day I can see her again. In the meantime, must continue to live life to the fullest, the way mom would want us to. This was very touching. I lost my dear mother at the age of 74 in September 2022. She had Alzheimer's and my father committed himself to caring for her till the end. It was a tough journey as she was diagnosed around 2017-2018. As a family, we rallied around her and supported her in our family home. I lived abroad but would come home for months at a time just to help care for her. She became bedbound around 3-4 months before passing and developed a massive bedsore which was very painful for her. I have no words to describe what this was like, but in spite of how challenging it was, my family and I feel good knowing that we didn't turn her over to a home. No condemnation to those who don't have the option of caring for their loved one. She had caregivers come into our home as well once she was officially diagnosed. The day she died I felt relief that we had her for the time that we did and she knew how much we loved her. May she rest in peace. Thanks for sharing your story about your precious mother and I pray that advancements will be made in research that will bring about a cure for this terrible, terrible disease.

Amen. Your story sounds similar to mine in that you had the opportunity to be with your mother and care for her which is amazing. I am sure your mother appreciated that, anyone with a loving family who cares for that would choose that option if they could. To be around the ones your love and care for is a priceless gift. I am sure at this time you feel similar way that you did all you could for her and there is a peace that comes along with that knowing you did your best for her. Hey Richie and Vanessa. Thanks so much for watching this tribute to mom and thanks for all your wonderful words. I am very happy to know you loved seeing mom in our cooking with pops episodes and she is always referred to as the flame of the family so calling her a light of joy is very accurate. That she surely was! Dad is alright and so am I. Of course we miss mom a lot but there is a sense of peace knowing we did all we could for her. Right now just taking it day by day. Pops and I go for walks together and we're doing some renovation work in the house which had been started before mom passed. So that is keeping us occupied for the time being. It will surely take some time to adjust but mom would want us to be happy and to continue to live a fulfilling life so we will try our best to do so. There is no rush and slowly we will figure things out. Thanks for all your love and positive vibes, we will use all of that to help us get through these times and mom will always be with us in spirit regardless. Dear Karim, I am truly speechless. From the 24th minute his eyes were talking, his gaze said so many things. Ok you have to be positive, maybe I shouldn't say it's not fair, because that hurts, but I say it with my hand in my heart. Hello Amanda. I can imagine that you were able to watch the video with Spanish translation and understand the details of what we experienced as a family. Dad and mom have always had lots of love for one another and that has automatically rubbed off on me. Together we have always been a close family of the three of us. We stayed together as a family unit all the way until my moms final breath. I know she is now watching over myself and dad and the two of us are moving forward together and we support one another each and every day. Thanks for all your wonderful and kind words, everything we did for mom was with love and care. Mom always loved and cared for us so when it was time to look after her it was the natural thing to do. We did not have to think about it. We always stay positive as we know God has a plan for all of us and one day each and every one of us will have to take a similar journey. One day dad and I will meet mom again and until then, we keep living and making positive impact in life. May God also protect you and keep you strong and provide you with lots of love and blessings! My brother, thanks for all your wonderful words! You grew up with me and know how special mom was! I had to be there for her and wouldn't have it any other way! We had lots of fun together in our last years and you always saw how excited she was to be part of our cooking with pops videos. Every time we filmed and I told mom today we're filming cooking with pops her face would light up! She wanted to participate and be part of it all. Anything we did together as a family mom loved so we made sure to continue that tradition all the way till the end. Mom will always be part of me in spirit and I know she is keeping an eye out for me from where she is now. One day we will all meet again. Hey! Found you! And omg- I sooooo understand and feel what you went through as your mom's cg. I went through the same thing (very similar) with my dad. It is by far... the biggest contradiction a person can live through. By that, I mean, it is the most honourable and loving feeling to care for our mom or dad with Alzheimer's... yet it is the hardest thing a child or spouse will ever go through. Like you, I'd do it over a billion times. My dad was a good person and the best dad in the world. He deserved the love and care I gave him till he took his last breath. ❤

Hello Kaygee, this is Julie (Lucy's Mum) from Brit Girls Go Stateside. I wanted to watch this separately, and send you my love. I know Lucy has also done the same. This resonates with me because my parents and parents-in-law are elderly and are struggling with life at the moment. It is so brave of you to tell this story. It is also so helpful to others going through similar situations. I applaud you for this, and thank you for this. It is so difficult to be a caregiver, but so rewarding too. I have had close friends and family going through this terrible disease, and through dementia, and those people also recognized me, but had problems with short-term memory and balance & stability. Your mum's smile was always so beautiful, and it was wonderful to see her be a part of your videos. You are so inspiring to me Kaygee. Family is everything. That's amazing that thanks to you, your mum was not completely wheelchair bound. So important. Palliative care at home must have been so important to your mom and to all your family. So wonderful that you could do that for her. I'm in tears, but so happy you were all there together at the end. Your mum was beautiful inside and out. Hi Julie! Thanks so much for taking the time to write your own comment to me, it means a lot! Pops and I send you our love also! I remember seeing your videos with your parents and parents in law and see the love and care within your family as well. I really appreciate that you documented moments with all of them the same way Pops and I were able to capture mom on film many times during our Cooking With Pops videos. At this time this becomes even more precious as they are our lasting memories of mom. Being a caregiver for mom was a natural thing for Pops and my self and we would do it for her over and over again! We really hope that we have set an example and to let people know that where there is a will there is a way! Everyone loved my moms smile and her dimple too. She always lit up the room and Pops always called her the flame of the family! I am so glad to be able to inspire you and as much as this is a tribute video to mom, this video was also meant to inspire and educate so hopefully it is serving its purpose and goal! Keeping my mom walking was a bit part of my goals for her. I was determined to keep her walking and she also would always put forth effort and try. So together we teamed up and got it done. And mom loved it too, you could see the joy she got from still being able to walk and move. Sometimes she would be out of breath but she would be smiling too so you know she liked it! Palliative care at home was the best decision as both me and dad were able to be with mom till the very end. Being able to take her final breath in the comfort of our arms must have been the best. Looking at her loved ones here and looking up to something beautiful awaiting her on her next journey, I think she had as perfect as a transition as you can hope for. She left her body so peacefully and calmly, no struggle just calm and peace the entire way. Right before she passed I also got a feeling of extreme calm and peace. Not sure if that was mom doing that to me or what but it was magical. Mom surely is a beautiful human being and a beautiful soul, she will be with us in spirit each day for the rest of our lives. She will always be with us as we continue this journey of life and we know she would want us to be happy. So we will do our best to live a fulfilling and happy life for the rest of our days until we meet again one day! Sending you and your wonderful family lots of love and blessings as always! :)

I watched the whole video and listened to every single word. So detailed and informative so that I could imagine myself there with you and your dad at the time your beautiful mom passed. I always wanted to see your mom and dad’s photo in their younger age. 👍🏼 I believe that face shows many things from people history. From her face and from the things I heard from you, now I’m sure that she was a great great mom. You had the opportunity to help her. You were lucky. I know taking care of a sick person is not easy at all ; however, many don’t have the chance to do similar thing for their parents. What you did was an excellent job Karim. Thanks Farzad for watching so intently and picking up on all the details of how my mom passed away peacefully and to say you felt like you were there with me means a lot. Makes me believe that I gave enough information to give the visual. It was a very peaceful passing and mom took her last breath very peacefully with no struggles. I wanted to share photos of different times in their lives and glad that you were able to enjoy and pick up more information through the photos! Life is never easy and there are always challenges so looking after mom is something I would do over and over without hesitation. Difficult doesn't matter, we were determined and we found a way and mom was happy and loved and cared for the whole time. We couldn't ask for anything more than that. We did the best we could and at this time it gives us a lot of peace! No need to be jealous, remember, we each have a unique life journey and unique circumstances. I was lucky to be able to provide this service for mom and your dad even though you were at a distance knows you loved him and cared for him and that is what matters most. There are so many different ways to go but the important thing is that when you are with your loved ones you make the most of it. All of us will have our time, but while we're still blessed with more breaths in life, lets do our best to make them fulfilling and fun filled experiences. At the end of the journey all we will have is our memories of what we did together! May your father rest in peace as well, Ameen. This video is nearest to my heart and is as raw as it gets. Mom was always full of love and life and was always a caring human being. We do love mom sooooo much and we did everything possible for her with enthusiasm. I know mom felt that and enjoyed that every single day of her life and I am very happy about that! We are blessed to be able to spend so much intimate time with mom and to be there with her in her final moments. I think all three of us are very grateful to have been able to do it that way. If I could sign up and choose how I am going to pass on I would choose the same one as mom. To be in the arms of my loved ones right till the end! I wanted to pay tribute to mom with this video and at the same time provide the service of educating others about life as a caregiver and also to give inspiration to others who may be going through difficult times in their own lives. Hopefully I've been able to do that. Stepping up for my mom is something I would do over and over again. Both Pops and I love her with all our heart so doing everything we could for her came naturally to us. Hard work yes but we were determined and dedicated to it and we saw it through till moms final breath. Thanks Said for your amazing comment. I also loved filming that part in Cooking With Pops when we would feed mom and enjoy the food together as a family. I am happy to be able to capture those moments on film as it does give all of us a lasting memory. I do miss mom a lot but as you said she is with us in spirit and I know she is keeping an eye out for us from above. Pops and I will do our best to carry forward her good teachings and nature as we continue our life journey. I am happy to be able to share this story with other and I hope it inspires and helps others through tough times in their lives. It did take dedication and focus but when you have love for your parent then it just happens like magic. God gives us the strength to get it done! Hi Kranti! I am so happy to know that this video in your eyes delivers on providing education and insight into life as a caregiver. This is a tribute to mom as well and I am sure that she would be super happy to know that her tribute is also a tool to help others because mom has always been the kind of woman who was selfless and always helped people in need whoever they may be. For dad and I we were very determined to provide what was needed for mom and we learned as we went, but having the determination to do such a thing is what comes first. And the courage. If you just listen to doctors etc. they mostly keep pushing towards putting into a home saying it is difficult on your own etc. And this is true but me and dad together were a team. At least 2 people and a 3rd would be perfect. But we managed. We had the help of PSW's when needed and we made it work. And mom was always smiling knowing that me and dad were there looking after her. She wouldn't be smiling like that in a home that I know. We are very happy to have been able to provide this service for mom. Sending you and your daughter lots of love and blessings! :)

I am so sorry for your lost, my deepest condolences 💐 🙏🏽 I never knew your Mom passed away in June. My Mother-in-law passed away from Dementia. Everything you had described is basically what we had went through but the only thing my Mother in law had a seizure March 1st 2020 and passed away March 3rd 2020. I will pray for you and your Dad. Looks like we both experienced similar things and part of making this video is to bring awareness to others who may not have already gone through this or are at earlier stages and hopefully it will give them some knowledge and strength to face the challenges that lie ahead for them. Thanks for your prayers as they help the most in these difficult times. Mom will always be with us in spirit looking out for us until it is our time to see her again. Yes I know that emotional feeling when Pops made mom light up the room with her smile. Mom always would smile like that around dad and I and dad calls her the flame of the family. We had many happy moments like that and shared a lot of love together and that will stay with me forever. I am glad you got to see a glimpse of that because that was the magic of the household each and every day with mom. Thanks once again for your kind words. Hi Lisa, thanks for all your kind words for me and my father. Amen for my moms soul. Life surely is not the same without mom around but we do take a lot of comfort in knowing we did all we could for her. Now we will carry forward the good things mom taught us during her life and apply it as we continue our life journey.
