I found this video both endearing and bittersweet. When I saw your dog watch you leave from the window, when she went to the door to check if you're home, and when she welcomed you home with utmost joy, my heart just.... clenched. I grew up with dogs when I still lived in my parents house, & I sorely missed that kind of friendship. At the same time I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to provide the dog with any deserving attention since I have a full-time job & lead a busy lifestyle. Dilemma hits...

What a beautiful Border Collie! I had a mix while so was in college. Her name was Gem. She lived with my parents and they looked after her. In return, she she slept in the hallway between their bedroom and the steps, protecting her fold. She passed away and I got Tess Siobhan who lived a little over 16 years. Her son JackBNimble lived 15 yrs, 8 mos. They got walkies too and plenty of exercise and lotsa love. I know have JackBNimble's girlfriend and a r/w girl named Gypsy Rose Lee. They're almost 14 now and get most of their exercise in our fenced-in yard, herding Maggee the American Bulldog who lives upstairs as well as myself inside. My Gypsy also gets me up at 3am to herd me to the bathroom or tell me if my sugar is too high or low since I'm diabetic. Tess taught her this and I think she's teaching Bo Peep this too. I hope they teach the next Border Collie pup as well.

The best part about having a BC is that they are there to supervise you, ALL THE TIME! Getting something to eat? They will watch you and supervise. Taking a shower? Supervise. Going to the toilet? Yup, they will supervise that too. lol My little BC knows what my schedule is better than I do. They are damn smart dogs. ^_^

got a 1 year old BC they are high energy dogs, but I agree that they thrive on companionship as much as exercise. As farm dogs and puppies their worse because of unsocialisation and lack of training but they really are special 😍

But you really need to take him out and for long run and walk. Otherwise you are depriving him from his real fun world. If I am your neighbor, you can always keep him with me. He is such a nice and sweet dog.

Such a cute video! My fav part was when Dazzle put the ball on your HW. LOL! I wish I could have brought my dog to college. :( The only apartments that allow animals here are dumps. Literally, giant holes in the floor and everything. And they still cost over $1000/month. I only get to see him twice a year, now, and he's getting old. Very glad you and Dazzle can stay together!

It's amazing how quickly people jump into conclusions here. Quite literally any other dog behaving like yours would be considered cute but because she's a BC people want to feel better about themselves by critiquing how little on the vid you play with her or exercise. This is exactly how a dog behaves alone. Your dog does this exact same thing when you go to work. They look bored and sleep the time away until you arrive. Everyone should've realized you can't compress a full day into a 5min video and that this vid isn't about the training regime. She looked healthy and spry and with her championships, there's no doubt she's well taken care of!

Border Collies are active dogs. You really need to take it out more by yourself so he/she can feel with you too. But, Border Collies love working, staying home like that is nothing but waiting for them, their lives need some more exercise as well. Anyways, you have a great dog.
