While not postal related. I too have found how resourceful Croatians are: a croatian stopped to see us and told us they needed to get up early to catch a bus. I questioned if they had an alarm clock or needed one, the reply was “oh no, ill just drink 2 glasses of water before bed “. She’d have to get up to use the bathroom! Amazing

My grandfather used to tell me this story: 50 years ago, a postman would come to my village once a week. In the middle of the village was a bar. He enters, orders himself a nice cold gemišt, the second and the third one, gets hammered, left his entire bag in the bar and told the bartender to tell the villagers to come and collect their post because he was too drunk to even walk. The best postman ever. Today postmen have all this GPS technology and they still miss my house every time.

I had an experience with island post when I was on vacation on island of Pag. Been waiting for HPexpress delivery for 3 days instead 24h and went to postoffice 3 times. Apparently, my postman took the parcel and nobody new where he was for 3 days. One afternoon he just enter my unnamed apartment drunk like shit and said "I'm just an old sea wolf, kid. What do I know about this job and a world I live in". Actually, he did the impossible. He found me during the festival time in crowded Pag without adress info. Amazing.

i almost got married in Vela Luka....when I asked about some street,since they are all scattered and named like numbers people said you need to know some bar or some craftsman. mechanic or some bar is there or konoba etc.

What part of hvar would you recommend for house/agricultural land?

Depends what you are looking for but for me the real magic happens on the north side between stari grad and jelsa
