Since you asked, El Salvador used to be the number one country in the world in terms of violent homicides, nowadays it’s not even in the top 10. Before Bukele (elected 2019) there were around 3.000 homicides per year, nowadays is around 500. I can’t thank Bukele enough he has changed El Salvador for the better and has made this country feel safer than ever

Yeah, imagine getting the same prison treatment as a terrorist for shoplifting. Or worse, imagine getting incarcerated for a crime you didn't do. In this case, I think this is appropreiate measures, considering it is indeed terrorist only. However, I don't think i'm alone when I say the US prison system would abuse the fuck out of a system like this. Not to mention we would have to overhaul the existing prisons to have better security. We'd find a way to fuck up a good concept. In the end, would I want some 30 odd Arkham Asylum style prison facilities across the United States, yes. Do I think it will be done effectively and with much less corruption than there is now, hell no.

The reason so much is allowed in US prisons is because it’s a profit system. People can pay the prison for phones and tablets, tvs radios etc. and that’s the legal part. Even illegally there is a profit on contraband and that’s why things will always be the way they are. The money means more than reform to the US prison system. If it wasn’t people in jail would have better access to mental health resources. The longer they can people locked up and coming back in and giving their money to the jail the better it is for them. It’s a shame fr.

This prison is brutal, inhumane, draconian, dehumanizing, traumatizing to do your time here and it is an experience that no human in their sane mind should ever experience. And that's great. Gangsters need to feel the same thing their victims felt, probably while begging and pleading for their lives, but this time knowing it is entirely their own fault. You might think this is just punishment with no elements of reinsertion. Yes, that's the point. They're being treated just like they treated other human lives before: as disposable trash.

El Salvador saw a murder rate of 52.02 per 100,000 inhabitants, making it the most dangerous country for this kind of crime worldwide as of 2023. - statista I searched this up for example there are a lot hardcore prisons around the world and their crime rate is about the same now. I also mentioned this because I feel like this gets a lost in context certain things work for certain countries because they didn't build around certain ideas others did. Like for example some places are don't go hard and have very less restrictive drug laws. But the other thing is is that why that works for them is because they don't have a high demand of it cuz they never truly restricted it if you were to do that in America and we see this in places like Portland Oregon you get drug epidemics. Like for example why kind of mention with Mexico Mexico has a lot of hardcore prisons that's completely No Nonsense but we constantly hear about how bad Mexico is other citizens who live there also talked about how there's a lot of gang culture and all that stuff that have way more hardcore prisons than us or worse.
