hi im 20 years old. when I was six I was diagnosed with scoliosis and at eleven I had spine fusion surgery to correct it.without the surgery they said I would have been unable to stand or walk by the age of sixteen. I'm now twenty and thriving, only a few years after surgery I started doing Ariel which is basically circus performing and I never knew I was capable of so much. the only thing I can't do is a back bend. I just wanted to say thank you for all you do. my back surgeon gave me my life back and im sure you do the same for others.

Thank you for giving us a detail look into the clear objectives of practicing medicine. You give clear examples of how you strive for excellence. You break it down, “ what you have to do” bit by bit. I will be reviewing your videos. I delayed my start date for med school by one year but that’s ok. I am excited looking at these new videos.

Are you ever able to actually get rest ? I’m exhausted just watching you go to all of these different lectures or meetings lol. I’m currently in nursing school but on my time off I have been working at various Covid testing centers assisting with testing. It can be overwhelming the amount of patients and we see in a day so I’m just so burnt out. But wow congrats to you !! How exciting. Nothing comes easy but as you mentioned in the beginning it will all be worth it in the end 💪🏼

Have you heard of VBT surgery( vertebral body tethering) it’s basically braces in the spine. Well anyways I had the operation 4 months ago and my surgeon has a similar story like yours. His name Dr.Braun and he was in the military and decided he wanted to become a doctor. He got accepted into Harvard med school and then got accepted into residency to become a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. He now is part of the small population that does the procedure!

Hello Dr. I am an x-ray technologist. I am in the middle of training with the O-arm and Stealth Visualization (Navigation). At the hospital I work at, the techs run the Navigation instead of the reps. I think it would be a cool video if you showed how this Navigation system works, or the different types of technology you use to help with your cases. I have been watching you for a while now and I love your content.

@Dr. Webb.. I need a suggestion I know its not the right forum but desperate for just an outside opinion or something since you mentioned lumbar issues it just struck me to ask you. In 2015 I suddenly had issues with pain standing and walking longer than a few mins and got an MRI showing lumbar spinal stenosis and degen disc disease and since around that time I am stuck on 25mg prednisone for another issue called pericarditis (inflammation around the heart recurring) and my Cleveland clinic docs always push aside my back issue because my other issue is so stubborn and serious with being stuck on prednisone which isn't helping my bones and I have nasty side effects from it too.. This is a long story but will shorten it quickly.. I was on as needed Perc 5mg in 2015 in Cinci before I moved back to Cleveland area and 20 pills lasted me a few months because I only needed it if I was out walking or doing something upright more than a few mins and I have a high pain tolerance.. as it worsened I needed 10mg then 15mg then all the way to 30mg per dose to just take it from a 8.5 to a 8 maybe this was over a few years period and finally I said this isn't working and this once place said try suboxone because I had withdrawal at this point and horrible pain and it was a miracle 100% pain free for about 3-4 weeks then slowly stopped working and dose changes did not help tried everything. A year later and two weeks ago after lots of research I asked the clinic to switch me to methadone because of its pain killing use and suboxone was not working for pain or withdrawal well anymore and had side effects.. after two weeks I'm on 80mg and I get 0% pain relief from the methadone when they said I would prob get 3-4 hours out of the dose (once per day since I technically get it at a clinic for withdrawal due to Ohio being horrible with pain meds now). Few weeks back i also tried a 5 day trial of pain meds again oxycodone (before ever taking methadone and off suboxone) and got 0% pain relief from even high doses like 30-40mg. The doctors at CC told me to just stay on sub it should be adequate pain relief and they just give me another referral to a spine doctor which I cant see until Jan now due to covid and was pushed since march. My docs know I have no qual of life they ref to palliative care who met me and rejected me and said your docs need to do more before I take you. I felt like she knew I was tried on every alternate drug and every pain med and she mentioned my case was very big and difficult and felt like she just didn't want it. I cant stand or walk more than about 45-90 seconds usually without the pain bringing me down to a sitting position.. I have tried PT and working through the pain which is unreal 9.5 daily and nothing works.. I have lost everything including jobs.. cars.. house.. friends.. No one yet has mentioned surgery or anything and they wont attempt to treat to the pain now that I went to this clinic. Im 35 now and use to play baseball at a minor league level up till the day I got pericarditis after a round of golf when I was 29 my life went downhill.. If you could offer advice other than getting into another doc which I am but with Covid is just unreal. I feel like my back must be so bad now surgery is likely a must but now I have this huge fear that no pain meds are giving me even 1% relief like they arent working at all even at what I think are high doses.. I know suboxone could increase tolerance but do you think its just as simple as I need a really strong break through med like fent because of all these meds used longer term? My fear is if the answer is a stronger med like that I will be in a world of hell because the doctors here are being "sought after" by the state and basically would never give anything other than 5mg oxy for 1-2 days max I have heard post surgery and some are only doing Tylenol. I do have some hope maybe the pain is better and I wouldn't need any meds but not sure if that's realistic. Any advice or thoughts? Sorry I tried to shorten this and if you cant respond I understand! Love your videos! PS : I know there are a few special docs that upload videos here on YT out of Philly and Cali that talk about this issue with surgery and mentioned you need a doc that understands these meds very well and that reg doses just wont work but they said 99% of docs just don't know better and wont risk it so other than seeing these doctors across the country I am wondering what can i do!

Hey Doctor Webb, how old were you when you decided to become a doctor/entered medical school? I'm in a big dilemma, I'm a nurse and 29 years old, every day I wonder if I it's too late for me to take that route or if I want to have that life style considering the fact that I also love having my time off, but also love medicine and the human body in general
