This was a great speech, you are correct on this. Follow your own path and the support will follow and keep you motivated, when I came to Japan I started to see a change I wanted to make and people have came back to support me and at the same time all my Japanese friends have been excellent motivators. Thank you Seage.

Riley evans Ey, i'm really happy to hear that. Its strange to think that my words actually help in any way. Putting myself out there has been such a strange thing for me. You almost forget that you can have an impact on a persons life if they hear what you say at the right time. Thank you for watching me :)

Thanks Seage. As a budding artist I really needed to hear that. I have a tendency to be so negative I really need to think on the bright side. Plus the crazy future hat helped. Now if only we could get some fabrics that would do that...I'd never have to change pants again!

So true!! Change happens in two ways, by evolution or revolution. Change can be uncomfortable but leads to a better you. Plus life is to short to do stuff that makes you miserable. Follow your heart my Seage! It's okay to be yourself. You will find people whom will love you for being you!

Inspiring as ever. :D What hasn't changed is your videos still pick me up when I feel trapped and depressed. I follow you because you have that attitude, not because you do a particular style of video or a particular form of art. Keep changing and growing, I look forward to seeing what happens!!

RyukinPrincess Hahaha. Honestly, I had to watch the video a few times to check for inconsistencies, and each time, I got sucked in by the hat. Didn't notice the GAPING MISTAKES, lmaoo. Had to super edit! And thank you :) Just gotta keep it up!

Love your attitude Seage, Recently I've realized that in order to reach my goal of becoming a skillful artist i have had to sacrifice a lot of time with my friends and my social life (Not all my time but some) I plan to move to Adelaide to attend a Concept art design course which is a MASSIVE change for me considering I've never left home for more than 2 weeks, This is quite scary but with the help of people like Sycra and yourself i understand that i wont succeed without making some changes and putting in hard work. My journey has just begun but i couldn't be more excited. Thanks for putting in the work to share your ideas and advice, hope to see more live streams from you and the 'cool guys' haha maybe next time ill be there to ask some questions. :)

The hat is epic! Also too right man. Follow your own path and if you ever get discouraged, don't give up because in time you'd find that people will begin to come to you for your new stuff. And you just said that in the video as I was typing. . .well. . .this is awkward O.o

Jhakaro Haha, the hat thing was pretty cool, eh? And yeah. Its hard sometimes, but gotta do what you gotta do! And lmao, it just means we're on the same wavelength. You totally get what im throwin down!

So glad to see you taking your journey steps :D Through life I've always been able to intuit when I should change myself, my habits, etc for the better- not that doing so was easy, but taking it a day at a time helps. With art, it gets complex for me, because I ask "what do I want to be known for?" and....it's hard to answer that. In a way I feel like your art is closer to the stuff I want to do though. But how do I approach it? Agh, well, there's nothing to it but to do it I guess. And I suppose that's what's holdin' me up, I'm too scared/concerned about alienating people haha.
@SeageSpeaks9 жыл бұрын
MrAsianadam Hey man. I know what you mean about the art thing. For me, i kinda just stepped back and figured...i'm me...whatever i do is me, so I want to be known for me first and have my art/creative..whatevers just be things I do. Which is kinda weird, but hey. And my work, i dont know. I know I have 3 or 4 pretty different visual styles. And they blur together all the time. I guess whats important is "what do i want to say?" And then your art can follow suit. And yeah, its ok to think about others (especially if you're building a community) but you gotta get your mind right and yourself straight or else you get lost.
@MrAsianadam9 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. I think that's what I need to do- figure out what I wanna communicate/what my message is. Everything else can follow suit.
@SeageSpeaks9 жыл бұрын
MrAsianadam It can even be piece to piece to start. When I did my black women series, I had an over all feeling, that i wanted to showcase black women in a positive and respectful light. Then with each piece I wanted to give them a real personality. Make them...tangible. Give them some quirkiness that made them them, even though they all don't exist in reality. You can start small then expand out as you learn more about yourself and your personal values.
@MrAsianadam9 жыл бұрын
Seage Speaks Wow man that means a lot to hear. That's actually my favorite body of works from you! I'll definitely start small. Try to do a piece a week.

I'm struggling so much with my art style and I've been in the habit of sharing my work online and the more I start to like my art style the less +1s and favs I get on my work. OTL Its just so hard ditching popularity but there's no way I'd able to keep drawing in my old cutesy style. TT_TT
@SeageSpeaks8 жыл бұрын
+KnotApps I get what you mean. But if its your choice, and its making you happy, you gotta push. Seeing the numbers drop is harddd. But i feel like the more passion you put in the higher those numbers will get. But on top of that its WHERE you share it. Different landscapes have different audiences. For example. My work might destroy someone online on...like...DA or something. But at a convention, they'll sell 3x as much as me for 2x the price. Gotta pick where you're sharing and know that sometimes this change will have to make you move around more. Its kinda funny. At the moment, i decided to turn away from my more realistic/fully painted figures and portraits and going down the more anime/manga road with my work, and I'm SO happy to do so. The painting style is simplified, the drawing is cute, but the story is whats pushing it. The way i feel is that your goal should inform your style. If you want so badly to be an animator, you should probably work on your gestures, energy, have that flow in your work. Know linework, stuff like that. You can still paint, of course, but you get what i mean. For me, i want to tell stories and painting portraits that take 3 days for 1 face is NOT getting me anywhere near where I want to be. Anyways, hope this helps. Keep fighting and keep believing in yourself. If you have any more problems, you can email me (info@seageart.com) or contact me on twitter: twitter.com/Seageart

Seage Speaks Wow man thanks so much for your reply. I'm going to keep trying my best! I used to draw anime but I'm trying to put effort into the concept-art, semi-realistic side of things. o.o I hadn't thought about how the platform where I share my work might affect how its received but it makes sense now. I seriously love all of the content you've uploaded so far especially the art tips and life blips. Looking forward to where the anime style will lead you to(Are you planning on creating your own manga?). XD Cheers, and thanks!

+KnotApps Great! We're literally doing the opposite thing. But I think thats human nature. We most desire the thing we dont have. I was doing concept and semi realistic for so long, it feels like im on a cloud when I can finally drop the rules! Ah, its so nice! But yeah, I hope my little advice helps you! And its more of a...video manga/anime/liveaction thing... I cant really describe, but i'll be posting a lot about it everyday on my social media and here while im developing it, so I hope you'll check it out :D

+Seage Speaks Officially Seage Sensei! XD I guess so too. It gets a little tedious and suffocating when you've been doing the same thing for a while so I can see why you might want to try anime XD That sounds super interesting! Yesh I shall follow its development! Can't wait~

Naw you gotta be like they all haters Big Sean style i don't Duck Quakc wit yewww XD. Yeah i feel you on trying things that are new and doing the stuff that makes you happy. Childish Gambino aka Donald glover he talks about just what you are in interviews. Jayden smith as well. And Logic too. It's the new knowledge i like to call it. Me myself not only am i trying to has a nice Art youtube channel i'm doing anime reactions. Out side of that i'm studying to be a engineer and become actor/musician/novelist through my younger years right now. I have dreams of drawing and building things i can think of with things on this planet. It's sad though i started my channel people don't come to it unless i get a request. Even then it's like 10 views. Oh well you know. :)
