Life-Changing Renovation For An Inspiring Teenage Girl with Cerebral Palsy | George to the Rescue

17-year-old Cailin Stryska won’t let cerebral palsy ruin her spirit - she is an outgoing, loving, happy teen. The Stryska home was not fit for a wheelchair and restricted her freedom and ability to do things as ordinary as brushing her teeth. George to the Rescue remodeled the first floor of her house to create an ADA-complaint bedroom and bathroom for Cailin, complete with a custom bed, spacious bathroom and technology all controlled by an iPad.

I'm here from the Molly Burke video where he sat in near silence during a collaboration between his channel and her's so that the two blind people could talk, and didn't once try to pretend he understood or interject. My son is 23 now and has CP. He's at Uni doing computer science and also plays Wheelchair Rugby for GB🇬🇧. It's amazing what they can achieve given the right tools. What I noticed tho is that they, Cailin and my son have similar giggles and its adorable. She's gonna be a whole new woman 💜💜💜

Beautiful choices for a young woman. The pastel colors but mostly white. Elegant feminine youthful bathroom. The decorator choose well. Sometimes i wonder if the interior designer realizes the decor has to last years. This bedroom she can change colors or details but its basically white. And its such an uplifting decor!! Also the rest of the house is in simple lite tones. Bathroom looks practical with tan tiles in shower!! Such a wonderful gift for a wonderful young woman.

My uncle has CP and was told he wouldn't live to see 18 or even walk. He is now 45 and roller skates, walks ect. Love seeing that CP won't ruin her spirit, how sweet!!

For those who don’t know Caitlin wasn’t just a premature baby, she is whats known as an *extremely* premature baby since she was born at 27wks into the pregnancy. She could’ve turned out so much worse than she did meaning she could’ve had many many diseases etc. or even worse she could’ve died, she is blessed to be alive & should be a reminder to all to never give up & to fight for life. She truly is a very strong young woman, she’s gonna conquer the world some day... I just know it! For those who don’t know/would like to know a full term pregnancy is technically 40wks however they consider 37-40wks full term, babies born between 29-36wks of the pregnancy are consider premature & those who’re born 23-28wks of the pregnancy are extremely premature.

Here in the UK we complain that the gov does not do enough for disabled people, but here the gov will install lifts, stair lifts, bathrooms etc for disabled people, all the things they need because of their disability are given to them. If the family home is not big enough to meet the disabled persons needs, the gov will build an extension. They provide state of the art bathrooms designed to meet all the needs of a disabled person, ie. anti-slip floor tiles, disabled toilets, shower chairs, adequate safety rails etc. The bathroom makeovers for disabled people that I have seen on George to the rescue are all very nice, but they would never meet the UKs strict guidelines for a safe and functional disabled bathroom. Here in the UK we very much take it for granted that the gov provides these services, it is very sad that in the USA disabled people have to live in homes that they cannot even shower in, it is really tragic that their only chance of having a home that suits them is dependant on George. Well done George for helping these people the way you do, but it is very sad that you are the only hope for these people.

Awesome job and I hope someday Cailin will walk on her own. The only thing about the remodel I didn't like was the wall shelving around the wall into the bathroom. It was right at head/eye height for Cailin. Seems like it should have been lower or a bit higher. unless it was just the camera angle, it looked like she would run right into it at eye level when rolling into the bathroom.
