My guess is the old woman did not even own the horse. Could very well have been dumped on her in this condition by a child, grandchild or relative. It´s not like old ladies with walkers get out there and buys horses to abuse them.

I am sure some people had no idea of what was going on behind the scenes--to those poor big lick Tennessee Walkers. The way their hooves fly up is very weird and unnatural. But years ago, when younger-- I sure had no idea the Ugly Cruel things that were going on. How can people be so Cruel and manipulative. And make Ugly something Beautiful--their natural gait!? I Use to think anyone and everyone in some Horse competition or sport, Loved Horses. Bit that is not so at All. For some, ot is all about Winning, Money, Showing Off, Controlling the Horse-or some other warped reason. Not for Love or admiration of the Horse or Horses...

My first job was a stable hand at a resort. My mother was working as a maid and I visited the stables and the horses were standing in manure and urine up to their knees. I was 16 years old and I was in the middle of telling the stable manager off about the condition of the stables. The assistant general manager walked up behind us and asked me if I wanted to work for him to get the stable up to par. He actually paid me out of his pocket because I was too young to work in the stables. It took me a couple of weeks, but I had the stable immaculate. I'm 70 years old now so I don't work as hard as I did then.

I learn so much from watching Horse Plus. In addition I marvel at their tenacity and love to save as many horses as possible from a horrific, painful, cruel and deadly future. Regarding docked tails on drafts: I've understood that the main reason tails are docked is to: ☑️ 1.) Prevent the tail from getting tangled in harness parts, which makes sense, ... but ... However, Tawney mentioned: ☑️ 2.) Docking is done to make it "easier to harness the horse." ☑️ 1.) Instead of docking the tail, how about trying an easy and effective way to bind up the tail instead. Now the horse can keep its built-in, natural "fly swatter" in tact. ☑️ 2.) A docked tail makes the harnessing task "easier"! Stop being lazy! Extend the harnessing job another 5 or 10 minutes instead of mutilating a horses' tail structure. Nature designed the tail for specific reasons. Leave it that way! Thank you Horse Plus 💕🐎

It was that nameless black TWH stallion that had to be put down to end his misery caused by Big Lick trainers that finally drove me to become a monthly subscriber. If even $10 a month can help keep y'all rescuing and fighting against animal cruelty in Tennessee, to end the gross tradition of Big Lick it's more than worth it. I wish I could give more, we all do, but a little sacrifice is worth it. Thank you HPHS for all you do, for all those left working hard to cover the personnel shortage. Thank you.

In this day and age people are outraged at the slightest thing. To see this horrific treatment on the big lick horse brings tears to my eyes. I don’t know why this information hasn’t generated total outrage from the general public. You sit in the same state as Nashville and yet no one there with lots of money is working on this issue? The cruelty of the people who do,this is unfathomable to me. That even the auction would accept horses in such miserable condition is beyond ethical. Hey Kory--as important as the media team is, in a horse rescue operation the trainer is super important, and good ones are hard to find. You're a rare gem, the way you work with them; if you do start the media thing for real, please don't let it be at the expense of your training schedule. Big lick is a type of horse showing that uses Tennessee Walking Horses. These horses naturally have a special kind of gait (instead of regular trot or canter) and their owners and trainers do horrible things to them to make them pick up their front feet extremely high while they’re going with that gait in the show ring. This is considered fancy and desirable by the horrible people who participate in the big lick industry. 🤬💔

Basically, what happened to the big lick stallion was, that surgery for his tendon was worth a try, but the intestines in his scrotum also would've needed surgery. So in the state he was in it was just too much to make him go through two major surgeries and the vet recommended euthanasia. This stallion, the mule and the horse with the shattered elbow were such sad cases... The scared blind Belgian mare was super cute, though.

In Germany we don't have auctions like this at all. Auctions here are just for very expensive, high class sport horses. You rarely see this kind of neglect and if you can call the governmental veterinarian office and they will step in. Yes, we have horses slaughtered here, but its a 1:1 slaughter. There are no big transports to a industrial slaughter plant for horses. You as a owner bring your horse to a small horse slaughterer, you lead it in the slaughter room and it gets killed immediately. No long horrific transport, no suffering on a trailer for thousands of miles. Slaughtering is never a nice thing, but that setting is very different from what happens in the US.

What a video! Again, the emotions run HIGH. But, what YOU ALL DO so quickly, efficiently and so well makes it easier on the eye and heart. Watching those poppets run off in the grass, I agree wholeheartedly Tawnee, is THEEEEEeeeeee best part. I also love seeing the trucks arriving back from 2.5/3 hours on the road from the auction premises. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to be the Stable Hand. My dream come true. Would live under a tree with my 2 fur children just to do this - but ----- I am all the way south - really south!! Cape Town, South Africa. Seriously, my dream come true job. I just keep on dreaming though. Thank you all. YOU ARE AWESOME and YOU ALL R.O.C.K xx

Nice to see Garrick again! He's a good guy! John and his chickens! Hilarious! When dealing with pigs, using boards do work the best! If they are show pigs or pets! Teamwork is the best! Hope Horse Humane plus gets another David to be a stable hand! He was awesome!

How can people not treat their horses when compassion and love ! They are beautiful animals and if you can’t afford their care you shouldn’t ever have one , they are expensive and you need to understand that they need care always! I would hate to see how they treat their children and or other pets

I have heard it said "if you can't afford the vet, don't have the pet". So true. Need to think ahead with responsibility, vets are expensive.

Hi Horse plus, You guys are truly angels on the ground. I came into the original video a bit later when it first came out and it was mentioned during that video that a horse had been taken to a vet already but i had not seen him. now i have seen him i am truly heart broken and angry. With the amount of humane society and horse rescue out there who can tell you the cold hard truth about how Big Lick horses are treated to become Big lick horses, why anyone can be that impervious to an animals suffering at the hands of repeat offenders of the inhumane treatment, the cruelty of these animals, just makes me so angry, i could scream long and hard. I wish we humans could inflict the same kind of cruelty, on the repeat offenders of such cruelty. It isn't looking very good for him but many many others are treated for the same injuries. the Vets that are still cutting tendons in anyway other than to provide comfort and to help a horse heal should have their license taken a way with a life time ban on treating any animal because if they can do that what else are they capable of with someone else's animals. The people with Big Lick Horses should have a lifetime ban on owning any animal and should spend time behind bars. Any owner who can do this kind of damage to a horse should not be allowed to own an animal for a life time I don't mean like a prison time i mean until he or she dies. What the hell is the Texas government thinking about allowing this kind of abuse towards an animal continue. Why is it that other states are seeing neglect and abuse as something that cannot continue and seeing horses as a pet not as a farm animal or stock animals i think is the actual term used. It breaks my heart to see animals suffering but if there is anything that can be done for these animals it has to happen on a Government level and reign down the worst punishment available to humanely deal with the people who are inhumane to animals not just the people who own horses but also the people who do this for a living and make money off of cruelty should have their assets seized as well. I cried when i saw that horse laying down. he has such a kind face even after the way he was treated to trust you to give him help, is remarkable. Poor baby. Please give us an update on him as soon as you can. God bless him and i will pray for the horse. Even though it is not looking good for him. It is frustrating how people can continually do this kind of abuse, and still profit from it makes me even more angry. I wouldn't surprise me if that poor horse died on the way to the Vets.

Thank you ❤ I do this with birds over many decades. And sometimes I just can give them the last act of kindness with a vet. It sucks but it’s way better than let them suffer. Then times better tears than leaving them in pain. Rip ❤
