Wo oil nahi tha Deepanshu bhai... wo to khane wala local soda tha. Main Assam se hu, hamare north east me ye soda bahat use hota hain, aur is soda kakoi side effect bhi nahi hain bajar se laya hua soda powder ki tarah. Ye fully natural hain, aur ye north east ke almost har jagah me paya jata he. Thanks Deepanshu bhai for exploring north east so deeply.

In Meghalaya, it's true that if you marry according to local customs, you'll be following a matriarchal system. However, only tribal individuals are allowed to participate in these customs; outsiders are not permitted. If a non-tribal groom or bride marries a tribal individual, they may be granted the status of a non-tribal member, which means they technically won't be moving into the bride's house to live.

Bhaiya, that's not oil. That is a type of alkaline solution and its assamese name is Kola Khar. It can be used in various dishes and is used extensively in North-east India including Assam and Meghalaya. It is believed in Assam that a few of it in sabji, enhanches its taste. NOTE: it is used in a very small quantity.

Its not oil which is filtered from banana ash.It is a local and natural sodium bicarbonate/alkaline for cooking Garo traditional dish.It has no side effects like the one sold in market 😁

14:50 that's not oil think. In assam we call it Khaar or KolaaKhaar. probably the most fav ingredient in Assamese cuisine. It's not oil, it's Alkaline in taste. Funny part is, it can be made out of any part of Bamboo, after drying it and burning it and then letting water come through it. IN Diwali, Assam plants bamboo in front of their house, shops, which is used to hold Diyas, and after Diwali , the Banana tree is cut in pieces and then let it dry. Since it is the start of Winter season the pieces dries in open sun. After one or two months, we collect it and then burn it and then We keep extracting the alkaline solution out of it, little by little. Sad to see Assam failed to promote it.
