I used to hate that annual check of the car in NSW. In Qld, your driver's licence lasts for five years and there is no mechanical check on vehicles for annual registration (you have to have one when buying a car and changing the registration). I don't think there are more road problems here than elsewhere, and it is so much more affordable to have a car here.

You can have a 10 year drivers license in NSW. It works out cheaper than QLD
