These high prices for natural resources is by design. Lot of the resouces are sold to other countries for much more money. The high cost of housing in canada is due to focusing on big cities with all the jobs. The further areas have limited job opportunities and low pay.

Its ok if you have a good job. But in effect you just survive the cost of living is so high its hard to survive.
