I can talk to you about some Serbs being kept in interment camps in Bosnia by Bosnians who where their neighbours. Forced to eat their own shit, tortured and rape. People keep forgetting that everyone did horrible things. They keep justifying what their people did but keep bringing up what other nations did. My whole family, except grandmother, were butchered and killed by Croatians and you don't see me spreading hate. She and the children were the only survivors because they spared her life because she was Croatian. and kids lives were spared because their mother was Croatian. I can tell you how my other grandmother who is Serb was beaten similar to your father by Chetniks. Yeah they beat here even tho she was a Serb. Point is don't blame people for the actions of few deranged people because then you can blame everyone and need to because not a single person is innocent by those rules. What I hate is spreading lies, hating on others for being of different nation or fate, falsifying history, choosing who is right and who is wrong in a situation where there is no right or wrong. Many Albanians in Serbia live without any problems. In my city there is even a well liked and famous Albanian family, but you don't see many Serbians living peacefully on Kosovo which is Serbian and it's a fact, a historical one. All historical evidence that are on Kosovo belong to Serbian culture.

That’s extermination’s. the rape of thousands of ethnic Albanian women, and displacement unde rincredibly. I also want to add since that was personal and not really aimed at all serbians. I have cousins who are light skin blonde hair blue eyes and cousins who are dark skin dark hair brown eyes. It is clear that in no way has the blood line been kept as pure as people may think. But the traditions however have held on to this point and it is that part of being albanian that i identify with. What i dont understand in any way shape or form is how anyone in the balkans can believe they have a completely pure bloodline. There are DNA tests, and most Albanians score up to 99% ingenious DNA. I did it, and my results came back 94% Greek/Albanian, which is the same, 2%balkan, 2%Italian, and 1% Baltic.

Elza, Serbia didn't start any war in Slovenia-please check on this fact. There wasn't much, if any antagonism between Serbs and Slovenians. There was 10 day war between Slovenian forces and then Yugoslavian Army. Slovenia proclaimed unilaterally its separation from Yugoslavia after referendum , but at the beginning both US and Western Europe were supporting the integrity of Yugoslavia. However, being ethnically quite homogeneous, the agreement was reached without much problems and Yugoslavian army had been withdrawn from Slovenia shortly after. Do you know what happened to Serbs who lived in independent Croatia during WW2 ? My mother lived in Independent Croatia during WW2. Her home was burnt to the ground, my grandpa, a farmer only, but Serb, killed with all other men from the village like thousands others in their villages or concentration camps for Serbs, Jewish and Roma people. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_persecution_of_Serbs Yougoslavia was a warrant that this history will not happen again, and all Serbs, sperad in big numbers across the region, not only in a republic of Serbia, wanted to preserve Yougoslavia for this reason. More than a quarter million of ethnic Serbs lived in Croatia and was horrified to witness Ustashas' flags and nazi-nationalism becoming popular again at the end of 80s and 90s. They fought tooth and nail for their right to stay and be safe in their homes and towns and they lost it. As a result over 250.000 Serbs had to leave their homes in Croatia forever. The genocide over Serbs that started in WW2 was completed half a century later and Croats got their ethnically clean independant country....with a loud blessing from Germany. Well, Serbs had a problem with that, it's true. And who wouldn't? Did you hear about it? A quarter million of people from the ethnic Serbian region of today's Croatian territory- a region and people that gave Nikola Tesla to the world. Situation in Bosnia was even more complex with 3 different ethnic groups and 3 different religions. We heard only or mostly what happened to Muslims there. Nobody so far (out of Serbia) had seriously addressed who was the arms supplier to Bosnian Muslims, and who, except native Muslims, was fighting Serbs there. There were Al Qaida fighters and mercenaries fighting for the first Islamic state in Europe. In mountains/hills above Srebrenica there were many villages-in one of them a branch of my family lived since-forever. Muslims came and burnt everything to the ground, killed some villagers and the rest of them (Serbs) had to run, to cross Drina river and became refugees in Serbia. No news about it. I am talking about folks who are part of my family; that's how I learned about it. AFTER that, Srebrenica happened with the tragic outcome for Muslims and we know all about it. I am not justifying any war crimes, nor I am comparing victims. I'm genuinely sorry for every victim on either side. I'm sorry for each ruined or lost life anywhere. I am saying that a big part of the picture is missing and that had significantly altered (distorted) the whole official narrative about recent tragic times in Balkan. Of course, there is a greater political context and the fact that every "little" war in the past 50 years was a proxy war between US and somebody else, likely USSR, or Russia later. When Serbian leader made his alliances with Russia , Serbs were doomed to lose and-badly. Everything that happened to them had to be justified for the sake of public consent abroad, among the nations of "big players". It came in handy when NATO (US) decided to bomb Serbia and terrorize civilians for 3 months forcing the regime change. On the other hand, besides unfortunate alliances, Serbs had probably the least competent, and the most corrupted leadership in the region....However, bombing didn't resolve anything in that department-when threatened Serbs are the most united, so bombing probably prolonged the process of regime change that was inevitable without any meddling from the outside. BUT! The country, economy and infrastructure already suffering due to sanctions, was in tatters....never to be recovered and the Europe got yet another Banana republic, easy to play with ... And about Kosovo? You see, I always thought there is an innate hatred toward Serbia and Serbs in every Albanian who lived in Serbia/Yugoslavia....even before the war started. I am Serbian from a very multi ethnic region of Vojvodina. After WW2 we never had any problems there between different nationalities, nor they had (or have) with us and we were a majority there. They were not threatened, not intimidated, not endangered and were not forced to move out of Vojvodina where they lived as minorities....but that is exactly what happened to Serbs in Kosovo when they became a minority on their own territory. That was a trend a decade at least BEFORE the war happened. And yes, Serbs had a problem with that too. Wouldn't you too? With Iraq we finally learned that they didn't have a weapon of mass distraction after all. After all bombs,and a bloody war and all dead people and suffering that continues...."Missing weapons" became a legitimate joke material in George Bush's speeches. Perhaps that's fine with admirers of US foreign policies, but I found it sickening. What the world (at least a Western part of it) failed to learn about Serbs, and how it was misinformed about recent Balkan wars is not more fun than Iraq story. Today is the time to hear the other side. To complete the picture. To admit and apologize to each other. And to start forgiving. Blessings to you and your people. To all of us, Elza.

Frank I’m American as well. Things happen to be complex. This war was driven by ethnic hatred. Not political philosophy although the Serbs were led by the communist dictator Milosevic. I understand that for you, a cross might call trigger connotations with Chetniks and extremism. However, it is a not a Chetnik symbol, it is a Serb symbol.
