i moved to Milan from NY 10 years ago, i regretted my decision during covid, but now i am enjoying it even more. Milan is strategically well positioned, you can reach the beach or the mountains in a couple of hours, lakes are also an easy option. It is well connected with the rest of europe as well. Its an expensive city but not nearly as expensive as any american metropolis. it has great public transportation and all kind of car bike and scooter sharing services. overall i think its very livable but its not your usual italian town by the sea dream situation.

@@basakmutlu1812 i speak italian, it depends what your life is like when you are in Milan. if you move there because of tax advantages it means that you are a wealthy person and can pay to arrange all your bureaucratic stuff. you will find people who will gladly communicate in english, but its not everywhere in Italy. Milan is a great place form where you can also reach many interesting places in europe, from London to Cote d'azur which is just over 3 hours drive from there.

Another point to add according to me is the vicinity of Milan to the italian lake district. With the train you can be in Lake Como or Lake Maggiore in an hour and they can be a beautiful addition to a Milan tour that lasts 3+ days. If you have a car on Lake Maggiore you should go to Stresa and than make a tour of the 3 Islands, while on Lake Como, Bellagio could be a good place to start.

THX for this interesting video, Irene, and clarifying some topics of Milan and the North in general. Especially the lots of (job) chances etc for young people. However, as a German, I am a bit shy with cities like Milan or Torino - they resemble (in my humble opinion) too much of German tidyness and accuracy; it's not that lifestyle I know and love from Umbria or Tuscany (especially in the small Borghi there).🥰 Looking forward for your videos on Calabria - after loads of vacations in the above-mentioned Italian regions we plan to visit "the South" in the future - I hope to get some inspriration from your upcoming videos. There are restaurants that do offer "menu fisso", usually at lunch. A set menu for a lower price. For example can find a restaurant serving first and second course, water for €18. If you have access to a car, get out of the city and check out an agriturismo. The prices are lower compared to Milan, you eat just as well and more for the same (maybe even less) compared to IN Milan. Before COVID we enjoyed going on Sundays to Piedmont to an agriturismo, spending €35 a person. Lunch would start at about 12:30 and ending about 5pm. Is there really the need to mention McDonald's?!?! Why eat at McDonald's in Italy?!? I'm originally from the States, but have been here for 21 years. I don't remember the last time I went to McDonald's nor do I crave anything from there. When in Rome, do as the Romans.

It's just bad *for* you with everything fried and salted so heavily. I tell you what, though. Sometimes, living in Italy, you just want something different. Be it something more green than pasta. My recollection of having lived all over the place in Italy for almost three years back in the late sixties was a "mixed bag" of what I liked or didn't like. Every city I lived in north and south was different, but to be sure, the closer a smaller city was to the countryside was better and especially in the more southern parts.

Salve! Just discovered and subbed to your channel! Describes Italy exactly how I like! Sono della Turchia, vivo in Stati Uniti. Io parl l`Italiano pocissimo. It is not possible to practise in Los Angeles, and most people speak Spanish here. I went to Italy maybe 6-7 times, but unfortunately only to Milano, Tuscany, Firenze etc. Didn`t go anywhere under Rome :) One time I was sitting in a hotel`s restaurant close to Massa-Carrara area. A couple came for breakfast to hotel. I thought they were not Italian, because they looked very different. The couple had much darker looks (darker skin hair etc) and shorter and..overweight! But the couple communicated with server, like how normal Italian would speak! I became very curious. Because, as we say in English, the couple was "sticking out like a sore thumb" just by their looks. The man looked like my uncle lol. I asked server if they are Italian or maybe which part. Server asked them actually, and then told me that they are visiting from Calabria. The couple didn`t speak any English, and asked server if I ever been to Calabria. I said no and smiled. They said, I should, it is beautiful there. I just sensed that they were closer to my culture! I think people in Italy are very diverse from one location to another. You are beautiful, very nice channel! I hope to visit Calabria and Sicily one day and eat that croissant with pistacchio cream? Oh man it was so good! :)) Greetings from L.A

Naples is certainly a fantastic city with lots of beauty and character, the sea, Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. But let's try an experiment: look at a video of the Galleria Umberto in Naples, it is a copy of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan. They are very similar in architecture, but exude a completely different atmosphere. You can watch another video about the “Centro Direzionale” in Naples and one about the Centro Direzionale in Milan. Which would you prefer? I'm not denigrating Naples in comparison to Milan, each city has its advantages. The point is that Italy cannot be viewed as Disneyland: a country is a living entity for its residents. In the past, Milanese did not think that their city would be a tourist destination, but according to a study by Mastercard (June 2023), it has become one of the most visited cities, third in Europe.
