Thank you Adam, great advice! There is an Expat Group Meeting once a month in Asuncion. We thought it was a great place to connect to other Expats and the ones who are interested in the process. We heard many different stories there of how some people got ripped off by their supposed residency helper. It’s a good idea to listen to different people and their stories, thats a great way to build your own opinion on what is the best path to get residency. Adam has some great advice in this video. Especially pricing wise, be aware of too cheap and too expensive and always ask for the final price.

@@hendrikschuur9755 the way it worked, last time I attended, there was a facebook group, i think “expats in Paraguay” and every month the announce the location and time and date for the new meeting there. It’s always at a bar or restaurant somewhere in Asuncion and about once a month.

The key documents you need are your birth certificate, passport, marriage certificate (if relevant) and a Police check - they all need to be apostilled/authenticated. Dependent on your situation there may be more. This is why you need to discuss this with an immigration agent/lawyer.

This not only applies to Paraguay also many other countries. And remember you start as a guest in their country all of them like you to come, but do not tell them what to do like in your home country, you have to adjust. I have seen to many quite because of this. The more influence the WHO and WEF are getting the more governments are changing their rules, DO not expect to live as rich as in your country but except a sometimes much lower standard but you are FREE.
@jgonz260

It appears that Paraguay has resisted some of the WHO and WEF influences lately; in fact, Paraguay even rejected EU money to implement what the EU suggested and wanted in terms of education in the schools. There were protests in downtown Asuncion on the part of families and parents who did not want the new regulations. However, I wonder how long can Paraguay continue to resist. I hope Py continues to be a free country. Freedom is priceless, indeed!

Very good advice! I am remembering that there are two important documents to make sure you have and bring with you before going to any of the Latin American countries down there (Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay too I think) - 1. Your Birth Certificate (notarised I think?) and 2. And a police check done to show that you have no criminal record . But am wondering - with my husband being an Ozzie and me living in Oz more than half my life, and with both of us having lived in Mexico the last few years - which country would you need the police check from - both of them? I know you lived in Guatamala before you moved to Paraguay - so where did you get your police check done? And your wife is a New Zealander, so what did she do? Thanks - appreciated.
@LifeParaguay
@LifeParaguay 2 ай бұрын
Hola! You definitely need your birth cert/marriage cert (if applicable) and they need to be apostilled in the origin country. As far as the Police check goes, we did ours in NZ which is an online process and easy to do - this needs to be apostilled as well. There are a few work arounds and things to look out for depending what country you are from, so this is something you need to discuss with an immigration agent before you come. 🙂

Yes, you can - all of the information is online, especially if you have time on your side. You would just need to check that all your documents are correct, which dependent on the country you come from can be tricky but it's definitely doable.

I've just seen on another channel who posted today about a temporary residency update apparently taking effect in Mid October. It seems that from this date we will need to travel TWICE to Paraguay, first time for the residency application paperwork to be processed and then a second time to apply for the Cedula. Apparently they wont be doing it all in the one trip any more. ✈✈
@LifeParaguay
@LifeParaguay 3 ай бұрын
Yes, the cedula application process has now changed from a manual one to digital one. What happened before was that people came, did their cedula paperwork (fingerprints & photo's) with their TR application and gave their agent/lawyer power of attorney to file/pick up their cedula's once the TR residency came through. So now once your TR is processed you need to apply for your cedula in person in PY - apparently at this point that needs to be done within 6 months of the granting of the TR. There are a few other things happening in this space that are also altering processing times as well. As stated in the vid things change though, so the best person to check with is your chosen agent 😉
@ermagerd101
@ermagerd101 3 ай бұрын
@@LifeParaguay Thanks for clearing that up. I might have to get organised a bit quicker (ie.garage sale and house sold) so the trip back for the Cedula application is the permanent one. I'm still early in the process, so things might change again before I get to that stage.

Do you think a place like caacupe is nice to live for a 22 year old or is it to boring?
@HaveYourADVENTURE
@HaveYourADVENTURE 3 ай бұрын
It really depends on what you are looking for. Paraguay is sometimes considered the most boring country in South America. But we like that label =) Most smaller cities, including Caacupe are pretty quiet. Maybe there are some restaurants, bars and coffee shops but nothing too exciting. But you will always be close to nature, can do hiking and connect with locals.

@@duncanstrik8764 id start in Asuncion if i was you and then get a feeling for the culture. Depending on if you are going to buy a car or not, id stick to the bigger cities without a car. In Asuncion Uber is very cheap and you have lots of options. Encarnacion also offers a lot for younger people without cars. Ciudad del Este is a bit more problematic. The “center” is not the nicest area and the good areas are a bit more spread out and a car would be desired. I personally would not wanna live on the countryside or the smaller cities without a car or at least a moped. I just released a car buying video last week and Adam also has a food car buying video on his channel. Maybe check them out. Overall it’s hard for me to recommend something to you, because i dont know what you are looking for and what your budget is. I personally am a nomad and im roaming around. Mostly traveling in Paraguay and the neighboring countries. I have a lot of videos on that on my channel. I will probably be in Asuncion in March or April, so if you come then, we could meet up for a coffee or Terere. Let me know.
