All foreigners who live, lived or have visited Russia can agree on one thing, Russia is an amazing country. Now I’m not gonna do a pitch on how amazing it is. It is however, my adopted country and I can say one thing for sure, Russia gets ridiculously bad press!!!!
The reason I started this project was so we can honestly show what Russia is really like. This is to benefit anybody wanting to visit Russia and wants honest information. This is not Government sponsored or any sort of propaganda. On this site you will see the good and the bad.
My name is Sam Hyland. I am an Englishman living in Russia since 2004. I have been involved in a number of different projects during my time here and had lots of experiences, good and bad. As a foreigner, I understand the difficulties of moving to Russia (Not because Russia is a big, bad, scary country) because while it maybe big, it is far from scary! Russia is an exciting country and has lots to offer anyone who would like to give it a try.
When I first arrived in Russia, I had nobody to help me, so I found lots of foreign friends and spoke only English with them. They were my support network and if it wasn’t for them, then my life would have been very difficult.
Before arriving in Russia, I had no idea about what it would be like, it was a complete mystery. While I don’t want to ruin these first time experiences for you, I know that there are so many questions that you would like answering and through this channel I can do that for you.
I have had the chance to meet and become friends with some fantastic people and had some really amazing experiences. Russian people are extremely hospitable and I have been lucky enough to be invited to many Russian weddings, festivals, parties, events and so much more….
I live in the city of Vladimir (2 hours drive from Moscow) This is a provincial Russian town with a population of about 350,000. Usually when people think about Russia, they think of Moscow or St Pertersburg, While these are both amazing and fascinating places, there is far more to Russia than just these cities.
During my time here I have worked in a number of professions and have a large contact base. I can help you with all sorts of questions. About life, study, work and travel in Russia! And if I don’t know the answer to your question, then I’m sure I know somebody who can answer your question!
What do I do? How do I live here?
Right now I’m an Affiliate Marketer, so I make money online.
In 2012 I opened a Volunteer language school in Vladimir. For 4 years I employed volunteers from the UK who came to Russia to teach English and study Russian language. I ran this program with the association of Nottingham University, we took on many 3rd year Russian language students who lived, studied and taught in Vladimir. You can see our site, though it’s in Russian! bh33.ru/
Though I have now passed this business to a friend as my heart was no longer in it.
I have the experience of assisting foreigners with the process of travelling to Russia and I can help assist you, just reach out to me, I will be happy to help.
Below is some ways to get in contact with me

Hello Sam, I am from Guernsey UK and I am very pro Russia and her cause for survival and victory in her battle against the collective western governments and mainstream media. I am doing everything I can to promote the truth about Russia and the lies that emanate from western governments and media, I detest our government and media and I pray for Russia everyday. I have only just come across your videos and love them, well done for producing them. God bless you and your friends for a Happy New Year.

I just came back from spending 26 days in Russia. The one thing that always amazed me was the way of Russians could walk on ice as if it was dry land! I was walking slower than 80 year old grandmas limping with bags in one and and a cane in the other! I'm the only one who fell over, and I did that a few times. The Russian people make it look like a normal day on dry land! I fell so in love with Russia and it's people, I was crying when I left and I can't wait to return!

I've always liked Canada. It has always seemed to me the most similar in spirit to my country. In particular, the weather, hockey and pancakes. Of course, I'm not fond of hockey, but I really like pancakes. Our pancakes are different, they are very thin, and we do not eat them with maple syrup, but with condensed milk. We also eat them with caviar, but I never liked this combination. I would like to try pancakes with maple syrup, but I have never seen it in stores, and I have not had a chance to look for it specifically, probably there is somewhere where foreign products are sold. With love from Russia

Russians sure are people, but they are Russian people, there is something different on their thinking about things. Maybe it is just because of their history. same kind of effect on history can been seen in Germany too, where western and eastern side has clear differences which show up on statistics, still after decades it is there.

Trust me! Most of us know what's going on, 75% of the media here is controlled by the Democratic party. What happens is the Democrats are able to control the inner cities with huge populations. They control the voting, the people running the polling stations and them they steal elections. I live in New York State. The people here are pretty conservative, BUT we have New York City which the Democrats control and therefore we have to suffer because they win statewide elections every time. Most of New York State is rural, farmland and mountains. Simple conservative people, ruled by psychopaths. Like I said, we know what's really going on. I can't even imagine going to war with people who look like, act like, eat the same and drive the same vehicles as the people in my town. Thats nuts, these people at the top are crazy.

Hi Sam, Have a great time in Vladimir, I did there & Suzdal in the one trip with the better half a couple of years ago. I'm in Moscow (Zheleznodorozny)at the minute, & the family & friends back in Ireland think I'm mad travelling here at this time. Be interested to know how much of the language you've picked up, and how quickly? I love busting the stereotypes that are propagated by westerners....I just love Russia and hope to move here when myself and Sveta are married 🙏 I'll stay tuned in for more of your content for sure 👌 с новым годом 🥂👌🙏

Hi mate. I just picked things up by speaking to people and listening. My grammar and accent is bad, but I just speak to people every day. I tried to do Russian lessons but I couldn't be bothered to attend the classes and do the homework. reminded me too much of school! I'm sure everyone thinks you are crazy because they have been conditioned to think that Russia is bad, we are taught it since the moment we can walk! My Dad came to watch England play here in the 2018 world cup and upon his return to England, he was hugged by the neighbours who didn't expect to see him again!!!! How did you meet Sveta? What brought you here?

@@SamsRussianAdventures yeah the stereotyping is ridiculous. Russians are so welcoming and hospitable. Some with a tougher exterior but I guess that could be said of other nationalities too. I met Sveta online on Facebook in about 2008. It was purely platonic then. I had an interest in Russian athletes, particularly track and field, and some MMA fighters, and she was curious to know how I knew so much about these people. I've always been fanatical about sports. Amazingly we went through relationships in the years from 08 to 18 , she became widowed and I divorced. We initially met in Amsterdam, and although we've seen many countries together since, Russia is my favourite and this is now my 7th time here. Tbh I'm nervous about what the EU might do about travel to Russia in the future. Less so about what Russia will do but after we've married we'll probably put our roots down here. Thanks for the response to my comment, you've inspired me to get the language down. I'm sure I can grasp it if I stay focused. I fly back to Dublin on the 12th but aim to be back in March or April with the documents ready for our wedding. 🙏

@@SamsRussianAdventures Assumption cathedral is very valuable because it's the only place that has Andrei Rublev (Андрей Рублёв) frescos. It's in the UNESCO heritage list. I think it's also important to stress that in Russia most buildings were wooden (because there was no shortage of forests, etc). As the result we don't have many of them left. This is why a church from the XII century is like super-ancient for us. Whereas in the UK you have buildings far older. Plus the fact you didn't have the Mongols burning down every prominent settlement down. That's why there's a term "домонгольский период". Vladimir region is lucky to have some of the most prominent examples of the "pre-mongol" Russian architecture. My number one favourite is the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl river. I think it is one of the most beautiful and delicate things on earth. Also in a UNESCO list. And Andrei Bogolyubsky's palace nearby. Played a great part in the Russian history.

The hopes of the collective West that somehow sanctions can succeed is a huge misconception. Russia's ability to sustain as a nation is way too underrated, and sanctions are not going to be nearly as effective as they would be against a smaller nation. Heck, sanctions haven't even worked against Cuba or North Korea! Trying to do the same thing to Russia and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.
