Hi there🙋🏼♀️ I've always wanted to visit Switzerland. Is there a way you can recommend someone to show me the slopes and mountains?
@natashareid70055 жыл бұрын
I must say this is something! I am a Jamaican living in Las Vegas Nevada and I’ve always seen pictures on Facebook of different parts in Switzerland. And I always say to myself I want to go to Switzerland one day it just looks so beautiful. So I decided to look up videos of what it’s like to live in Switzerland and boom here you are a Jamaican living in Switzerland. I am just head over heels. Your video was the first video that pops up 🤔that leads me to believe that they’re really listening to me😂😂😂🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 I promise you at first I’m like maybe I should’ve chosen another video, and then I heard your accent and I was like wow she’s a Jamaican😍😍😍. I low-key started cheering in my head😏. Well you definitely gained a subscriber today! Much love Yardie sisters😘😘

Hi, great video! I just wondered, do you speak the local language? And if so, how hard did you find it to learn? I'm thinking of moving to a German speaking part of Switzerland and have no knowledge of German just yet! Thanks.
@Amoinew8 жыл бұрын
yes i do speak german and lucky for me my mother language is english so it was easier for me to learn but it was still difficult. and until this day a bit over five years i still have problem with the 'der, die, das'. German is a difficult language to learn.
@emmab1518 жыл бұрын
Thanks! English is my first language too so hopefully should be ok. I like the vibe of switzerland enough to give it a go!

swiss guy here. we had some exchange students living with us. most of them learned the language quite quickly (1 year without german knowledge before). but i would say this is only true if you live in a family. there are a few difficulties in learning German. 1) it is not necessary to do it, we can speak English. 2) German is difficult. 3) we speak swiss german, we switch to german if needed but normally we automatically switch back to swiss german after a couple of minutes. swiss german is not a written language, so there is no rule how to write things. so texting with swiss germans is difficult in the beginning because every dialect/person has their own writing style. for official documents and letters we will use german. there are not really any books to study swiss german. we do however offer swiss german courses (migros klub schule). this video shows the difference between german and swiss german. dont be scared because of the Valais dialect. Even we struggle sometimes to understand them. most dialect are much closer to the first one. If you can speak german, swiss german is not difficult to learn. it's just really confusing for someone who doesn't know german. watch?v=Gz2S9iggdzM if you want to move to the french or italian part, you will not face this problem. their language is mostly the same as in Italy or in France. And in my experience their english is not as good as ours. so if you really want to learn swiss german you will have to force the people around you not to speak English with you. The easiest way to accomplish this, is moving in with a famaly who has children. This might not be to easy to find but it is possible.

How do swiss treat foreigners? I heard that they are not very open and sometimes are intolerant to people from other countries. What is your personal experience on that respect? Thanks
@Amoinew7 жыл бұрын
That's a very interesting question.... But like in every country there are persons that are welcoming and others that are not, In Switzerland there are more not so welcoming people that others. It really depends on where you live.
@barbarathegipsysoul5987 жыл бұрын
Thank you for reply, I guess its one of cons that is well compensated by the pro's. We will be moving to canton of Vaud. Hopefully our children will be fine and not excluded at school. :) Thanks again for answering

Barbara The Gipsy Soul I can help you out with this question: Switzerland is spoiled with foreigners. There are 25% foreigners. 55% of 6 years old children are foreigners. So don't be surprised if you get treated badly or weird, because we simply have too much foreigners.

+Goeggi G *"Switzerland is spoiled with foreigners. There are 25% foreigners. 55% of 6 years old children are foreigners. So don't be surprised if you get treated badly or weird, because we simply have too much foreigners."* Yeah but Switzerland's definition of a "foreigner" is fucked up! If the last 10 generations of your family are not Swiss, you're not considered Swiss. That's a slight exaggeration but I'm sure you get the message.

That depends on your skills, qualifications and/or employment experience. If your area of expertise is in finance or technology, then you've got a really good chance of getting a job there.

@bburg04087 жыл бұрын
Start by applying for jobs at the 'Big 4' (i.e. Ernst & Young, Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG) Check their Websites and apply for positions you believe you are best suited to. Apply for Internships too. Study their websites so you know what they are about and use that information to explain what you believe you can offer them and why you think you would fit in their corporation. Do the same for the main banks in Switzerland too, e.g. Credit Suisse, UBS etc.

I'm Jamaican too, but the only things I love about Jamaica are these: sun, beaches,, food, music. That's it. Jamaica is a violent place with all types of things that are horrible. The wealthy are corrupt and the govt does nothing for Jamaicans. Did u meet your husband in Jamaica? Europe is old , and that's what I love about Europe. Portugal probably has the most number of Unesco and other protecgted buildings and towns.

Tom T You and your other little racist compeers turned this comment section into a shithole. You are so afraid of seeing black people thriving because you can’t put us in a “savage” box anymore. You blame your own failures on us, and take out your repressed imbecilic anger on a positivity-radiating comment complimenting the beauty of the Swiss landscape. Do you have any other interests, besides criticizing anyone who doesn’t look like you? Must be a miserable, sorrowful life you’re living.
@nat-zn3zs7 жыл бұрын
Tom T First of all, your statement does not make any sense... Donald Trump is being labeled a racist for calling a bunch of Black countries “shitholes”... Not comparable to what I said, sorry friend. Also, by “racist invasion” do you mean the exact thing europeans have done to africans for centuries? Now that Black people can move on to more opportunity abundant territories you’re upset? Even if they can do it legally and ethically? You, sir, are a hypocrite. My parents are Ghana-originating Canadian citizens. I live on both costs, which are both very multicultural. We’re in a developed country, and are now thriving economically, more than we could ever be in beautiful but colonization-scarred Ghana. Our “invasion” is going great, if you ask me. Boo! I’m so vicious! Lastly, I’ve seen you comment on this video at least 5 times... How are your several other interests doing? :)

So don't be surprise if we're a bit racist, cause we have one of the highest amount of foreigners world wide. That's why we had a voting for limiting immigration.
