Nice one Les! FYI I've got a 2010 Mazda 2 I maintain myself now (just changed the starter motor) after 110K, it a great little car and I dont feel cramped. Small is great in the Soi's and I dont worry about parking it or dings etc. However I do need a touring car (and a pickup would be useful for the amount of land we have), so I have some decisions to make - I appreciate your other car selection video for things to consider. Cheers.

If it drives well, keep the Nissan. My parents have one of the newer Suzuki Swifts. Maybe I would prefer that, but does not matter much.

I enjoy these car wash vlogs - reminds me of my younger school days, when I really did enjoy washing the car on the weekends. My first car was a Datsun (the old name for Nissan cars). With regards to replacing the car, if you can afford a new car and it will make you happy, go for it - you are retired and living the dream, after all... hahaha! :) Best car brand to get is the one that you can easily, and cheaply, get maintained regularly, esp. any part replacement. That said, if possible, I'd go with a Subaru, because almost all of their cars come standard with full-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) and, quite frankly, they know how to do it right. No rear-wheel nor front-wheel nor part-time-4-wheel drive vehicle handles as well as a Subaru AWD, esp. on wet pavement or dirt. Ofc, from the purely practical point-of-view, if it ain't broke, working fine and cheap as chips to keep it in that condition, then keep your current car. Why risk getting a lemon of a new car and potentially end up regretting it?
@RetiredandLivingthedream4 күн бұрын
As so many others have said keep what I have so it looks as if we will be keeping her for a few more years. I liked her 5 years ago and still like driving. 👌

I decided to keep my current car as long as I can. The money is instead going into a pension fund. Every $100 invested in car goes down at least 50%. In a pension, it goes up at least 25% probably more with compound interest. So I'll take the $125 over the $50.
@RetiredandLivingthedream3 күн бұрын
I can see your thinking, I like the car anyway so it's not a bad choice to keep it. Thanks for taking time to comment.

Regarding your livestreams - I like the current simple format. Introducing new kit into the format will complicate your task and, as I've seen on other channels, likely to end up with technical problems spoiling the flow of the livestream as you try to sort things out.

Thanks for that, I will be trying a new livestream format on Sunday se how it goes, simple it sounds hope it is. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.

Hi Les great film as usual. Regarding the car. Do what makes you and Khun Ploy happy. If you’ve got the money swap the car. If not wait until you reach your state pension age then buy one and go travelling, fabulous. This year I was going to buy a Toyota Cross. However when I saw one at the Bangkok Motor Show in April this year I decided it was too small for what I wanted. I needed a bigger vehicle. After looking at many of the larger 7 seaters I chose the Ford Everest. Had a couple of test drives, one really exciting one, actually on a test track! I ordered one. Loads of extras, including front and rear dash cams. A must have, here I think. Best car I’ve ever had. Drive everywhere in it. I’ve done 12,000K since May. Mainly motorway driving between the two houses but lots of city driving too. ‘Up to you’ as they say. But if you do decide to buy one have a look at the bigger vehicles. You feel so much safer in one, that’s for sure. It’s not like driving in the UK. is it? Good luck chum. Best wishes from me here.

Hi Andy thanks for the comment, One day we will visit one of the motor shows, we have made the decision to keep the car a couple of years so have made some improvements, all revealed in a later video. Enjoy your Car and we love to travel.

How's the acrylic material standing up on your headlights? Or are you lucky enough to have glass. Some of the older cars I've seen have taken a battering on the acrylic from the strong sunlight here.

Hi Les, Your current car doesn’t cost you anything apart from petrol and maintenance, if you bought a new car you would either have to fork out a lump sum or have finance payment for the next few years. I have a 2011 Toyota Vigo and will run it into the ground, 🤔 maybe it will last longer than me 🤣

I got a 2005 4 door double cab Ford Ranger. I live in Isaan so no salt air and it’s not got a spot of rust which is normal in Isaan. 203,000 Km on the clock but the diesel engine should be good for between 400,000 & 500,000 Km. It’s so easy to work on and labour is cheap so when ball joints, shock absorbers etc go they are easy and not expensive to replace. I see a few older low mile pick ups being sold on market place on FB and some by older Expats who just got older don’t use them any more and just got a small automatic run around the wife can drive.
@RetiredandLivingthedream4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the info and I agree the cost to replace the ball joint rubbers is less than one months payments. As many others have said keep her.

@@RetiredandLivingthedream In the last about 4 years there was only one time I had it serviced when they found stuff wrong. The front wheel sway bars bushings had gone and they put on a whole new assembly, Replaced the 2 back shock absorbers and replaced a leaking brake servo unit. Total cost to change it all out was 11,000 THB. Last year one of my front wheel mud flaps broke because the rubber had perished. So I bought a front wheel set on Lazada for about 400 THB. Garage charged me 200 THB to put them on and they also checked the tyre pressures and checked it all looked OK underneath while it was in the ramp.

Hi Les, this is not a question or comment on your car, it’s a question on dentistry in Thailand, firstly have you had dentist work in Thailand and was you happy with it? As I’m coming for the whole of January and need fillings. I know it’s a bit random but you said you try to respond to messages. Good luck with your trip.
@RetiredandLivingthedream4 күн бұрын
Hi and thanks for the comment, I am not a Fan of Dentists since a child and stay away from them as much as I can. ( not a good move ) But when I needed work I have had no complaints about the skill of Dentistry here in Thailand. The last place I visited in my opinion were exceptional and I have recommended them in my video. As I am not a regular visitor of the dentist I have nothing to compare them with, but the guy who suggested this dentist was quoted double the price for the same dental work in Pattaya and he is happy with the result. hope this helps thanks for watching.
