Blackberry pickin brings back lots of memories for me, especially how I always got eaten alive by chiggers. I love blackberry cobbler. Used to when I was young, on decoration day we had dinner on the grounds and everybody would work and cleanup around the gravestones. Then everybody would have a picnic together on the ground. Good memories. Bless your sweet family.

Just found your channel. I am hooked. I’m from Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide). Grew up in Hale county, Greensboro. My brother and I picked blackberries as well. Just baby hardly find any these days where they use to be plentiful. Just went to Homecoming at a country church and took my 99 yr old mother. What a blessing to see her little feet tapping and her hands clapping. Bless your family and I love you too. Joy

Glad to see the tradition of decoration is being carried on in Cullman County. We still decorate in the church cemetery where most of my mother’s ancestors are buried in Franklin County, but they don’t do the dinner on the grounds and such like they used to.

This is how we live in Hatton (North Alabama). Decoration is taken seriously around here. I love our slower times and southern traditions the older I become. I’m hoping my children appreciate our small town as they grow older as well. I went away for twenty years and came back home to raise my children.

I would always spend a week with my grandparents who lived in southern Missouri, and pick blackberries so granny could make the best blackberry cobbler ever..such great memories.

I have decoration the next two Sunday's. Always enjoy seeing everyone and we have "dinner on the ground" which always has so much great food and fellowship. The crowds have thinned down so much in the last 25 years. It is sad to see our mountain tradition dying out. Hope ya'll have a great week and God bless!

I loved listening to the gospel music. I was raised in an Assembly of God church, and my parents were members at the time of their home goings. I go to a Grace church now where my daughter and her family attend. We went to a lot of gospel signings when I was a child, and I can still picture my Mama clapping her hands along with the music.

I adore being raised in the SOUTH. We get some bad connotations here. If you're Black, you were a slave. If you're White, you were a klan member. Couldn't that be possible in any area of this Country?. This is because of some movies and or silly folks. But for some reason, they've given both to the South Having lived on the West Coast...Los Angeles, California and the East Coast.. Boston, Massachusetts. I can personally say, you can find silly people EVERYWHERE!!! At least we seem to be more genuine in the South about our feelings. And when it comes to HARDWORK!! The Southern Folks is the epitome of that kind of work... unapologetically Here people are so respectful too. Where else can you be 23 and have men and women twice your age saying "yes ma'am or no ma'am" when answering you. Or complete strangers coming up to you to inquire "Who's your folks?" Simply because you look like "so and so peoples" Not to mention being called "sugar, baby, honey sweet heart and precious," by them just being kind. Yes. We quickly returned home. I wanted my children rsised in the South tye County part. And, those other places are good for those who enjoy living there. But for me.. give me the dirt roads, the weekend tubing, the fish fries, the barbecues, the peach ice cream on the side or front porch, the men during butchering seasons, the women during canning season,, the children playing tag. Okay, yes I adore the Country South. I appreciate it all. But my heart is in the Country South. May it never CHANGE. IVE subscribed. Im getting tired of hearing "homestead". It's good to see the COUNTRY South. Much Respect 🙇‍♀️

This is the first time I’m seeing your channel, where in Alabama do you live? I’m down here in Mobile, little city of Semmes, my husband is from Greenville Alabama, we love the country life, he bought his granddaddy’s 100 acre place along with his daddy, we loved going up and staying in the country as we called it, pond fishing, blackberry picking, moving cows around, hunting. Now our son has our part and he takes his kids up to do the same, good country living!

Decoration for our family is always Mother’s Day. My husband grew up in the same area but never experienced it. The first time he ever went he thought it was so odd that we set up chairs under a shade tree and basically had a family reunion swapping stories about our loved ones who have passed. It’s a tradition that I love 💜 We’re in East TN

Hello really starting to follow your channel. Decoration Day at church is a southern thing I believe. We sing in a Southern Gospel group for 35 yrs now with my husband and others. My parents and grandparents had a group so that's all I know lol. Daddy was a Southern Baptist preacher. Mom played the piano. We had a singing yesterday. No Homecoming today. Makes me homesick for Skyline AL (where my mom's family lives). Especially the old time Gospel music. My family goes to a Holiness church and they sing that kind of music too.
