Don't go by your impression of native villages you saw in Arizona area. America is huge. As you start travelling to Eastern seaboard, middle of country, Texas etc. you will see beautiful, well organized and productive villages with well established communities and political/economic/educational systems of their own. 😅😅

I wouldn't call these 'typical' USA villages, but you see the struggles and preservation of native people's on reservations. People in the USA wouldn't call these gas stations with food 'supermarkets' either, since food quality and wellbeing is very limited to harmful if eaten everyday. Anyway, of course there is so much of the USA and every kind of village and people that can make it up since so many places of people mix into places. However, this is only one aspect of tourist gas stations that aren't the usual part of life for many. You are mostly seeing the roadside businesses and people trying to survive. The internal part of the reservation where you can eat with people in their homes would likely give a different experience such as how their school day is to what they want to become in or from the reservation. They are also a large disparity in income, as always with all peoples but it is unique in each group as to why and how it is happening.

Natives = Adivasi are protected therefore like in India they have protected land and even business. You will see in your travels a ton of Casinos are owned by Tribes, Navajo is one of them. Additionally Grand Canyon is also run by an Indian Tribe. There is even a Shiva temple in Grand Canyon ....
