When I lived in Manila I always dressed like a bum. Come to think of it, back in the USA I also dress like a bum. :-) Seriously though, dressed like a local, I never had any issues with crime in Manila even in dodgy areas and I lived there for one year.

I lived in Manila for 3 years. I went everywhere by myself. I traveled all over places to Where Most Foreigners would never go,also to places where most Filipinos themselves said to me, why would you go there? I said For the adventure and the love that I have for the philippines.

Just be careful of Bar Girls and such, they are jaded and scammy as hell. Join a church or find one that has a legit job to find a good wife. When I met my wife, she was the Manager at an Internet Café there. Her cousin owned the business and she managed it. I just turned 60 and we are retiring there this month after living together in the USA for 18 years.

Hi Tom and beautiful Lay, awesome video. Visiting the Muslim church and Catholic Church as well. We’ve been in Quiapo and it was a busy place brought some native goods (souvenirs)to bring back to the U.S Lay, teach Tom Tagalog (smile) basic every day phrases, one sentence a day (smile) I myself learned from friends and love ones basic Tagalog and I now understand and speak some Tagalog mix with english, (smile). Keep up your videos. May God bless you both.

Continuation of Tom and Lay…good morning 💜 I didn’t even know there’s a mosque in Quiapo. You2 love to eat 😂Try also going to Bataan. You can take the ferry (not free) from MOA to Mariveles. There are restaurants and of course white sand beach.

I never knew that Muslim church in Quiapo, its an experienced to both of you to discover around there too. Nice Catholic church, been there once. Looks like Tom is back on track. Lay looks always calm and simple!

My wife has cousins around Quiapo Manila. Visited there many times when I lived in Manila years ago. 2005/2006. We even walked around there after dark, yes a bit dodgy so be careful. But I like dangerous / edgy places and areas. Ha ha. Inside that old Church is beautiful.

Hello Tom & Lay ,hope you are both doing well there, Lay is a very lovable type person similar to your self Tom,well paired, and to have a companion you really love and enjoy makes a big difference. For me l just hate Manila ,the hustle & bustle just don't suit me and l get a bit hot and bothered along with a feeling of Claustrophobia, Manila has the worst Airport l have ever had to land and it really needs a total rebuild to encourage tourists. its great you can just stroll around with Lay and show us all different places ,be nice if you start doing a bit of traveling, Take care and stay safe God Bless 🙏

I agree about the airport. It's the first thing you see upon arrival to any country you'd think they'd fix it up. It's as chaotic as the streets. If they fix it up nice, I bet the number of tourist arrivals will increase.

Born in the Philippines and I’m afraid to drink their water even to just brush my teeth due to past negative experiences, I thought it was the food but only found out it’s the mineral water they sell in the blue big bottle,no more but sealed bottle for me directly from the stores

I thought Biriyani was an Indian dish? I thought women couldn't be in the mosque with men or in there at all? Or they had separate doors and separate times? The muslim men pray five times a day I know that.the women do not go in with the men, if at all. We have many muslim communities in the UK, as you probably know Tom, you came from Birmingham originally? Where I live there is a muslim community, most have been born here but their parents originated from Bangladesh

Thanks for showing this part of Metro Manila but to say it's the real Manila is not accurate. Real Manila is all the parts of the metropolis- Binondo, QC, Ortigas, BGC, Makati, Alabang, San Juan, Pasig, etc. Poor, rich, middle-class are all Manila. Its like saying Bexley or Hackney is the real London.
