The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy was originally a brilliant, darkly amusing and sarcastic radio play with surprising depth which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at the end of the seventies. It deservedly still has a dedicated cult following. The novels are essentially the script to the radio play, and not the other way around. The later BBC TV series and Hollywood movie are a passable homage to the radio play and Douglas Adams' brilliance, but imo the best way to experience this is to listen to the original BBC Radio series - if you can get hold of it. There exists a web-based archive site which may still host them. I've read some of the novels and they are very good, but to hear the original BBC radio play (with correct pronunciations ( e.g. Vogon (Vogue-on), Zaphod (Zay-fod), Magrathea (Magra fear) ;) ) is still utterly gripping and relevant to new listeners today; even those, so amazingly primitive that they still think smart watches are a pretty neat idea. We haven't evolved sufficiently as a species since 1978 that Douglas Adams' biting taunts no longer apply, and we probably never will. It's great that you're encouraging 1) reading, 2) philosophy, and 3) "The Book" and this is a great introduction to this excellent work that, like Voltaire's Candide has much greater depth than a casual read/listen/watch would suggest. I think it's terrific that the current generation is continuing to enjoy and encourage others to enjoy and benefit from Douglas Adams' wry insights on the human condition and appreciate your well thought out and presented video! - I strongly urge you to track down the original radio show however - I'm confident you'll be delighted that you did :)

H2G2 was a novel second, radioplay first, so there is no debate on which sylable to hit in Vogon or Zaphod.

No mention of Camus, Kafka and Satre? You just outlined their philosophies and their influence on the text, at least name check them.

You should move the camera back, we need to see your hips... Less unsettling for some reason
