I thought I was going to die about 4 weeks ago - ended up in hospital (which was an absolute horror show - as you might be able to imagine, the sights, smells & sounds). Anyway, off the back of that experience and now suffering "symptoms" that have essentially derailed my life, the message became ever clearer to me - that yes, this world is a frenzy of activity, with much of it being utterly without merit. At the moment, to help my vagus nerve I am listening to the voice inside that is coaching me to steer clear of violence (including exposure to specific media, violent video games and so on) and to work on moving away from sexual feelings - as I need to quiet my central nervous system and move toward a better place. When our health fails and we are left in tatters - the value we placed on former ways and former things can diminish, when we see, as the Bible would say (not a Christian btw) - we are chasing after the wind. It's so true. My advise to anybody would be to steer clear of those who are aggressively competitive - let them play their foolish games. I think sitting quietly, in modest surroundings, maybe listening to the sound of a stream, is a better way to be, than what the world has to offer.

All life cares about is existing as long as possible. Even though we have individual experiences all of us share a greater role in the collective surviving. If your role is to be a loser that is your role. If your role is to be a microorganism to be consumed by fish to sustain the food chain that is your role. My point is, this “competition” of life we play is a manifestation of the underlying reality of the universe. If animals don’t compete for resources there would be no improvement or evolution and we’d all die out eventually.

@sssartbimpson I think that perspective might resonate with a certain level of evolution, but I think we're moving away from that as we see that just surviving isn't what we want or need, and a lot of people would choose death over an extremely miserable quality of life. I think we're all connected, but this hierarchical way of seeing others as losers or winners is what's causing the divide. Humans don't have to see ourselves as lions vs. gazelles or predator vs. prey just because we see other examples of that dynamic playing out in the world. We don't need to play the zero sum game with others and nature anymore. I mean look where it's gotten us

Every single living thing is competing with each other. Nature is competition thus life is competition. Just because we drive complex machines and have computers in our pockets doesn't mean we're not part of nature. Humans are animals, modern humans have only existed for a short time so our programming is driven by animalistic urges. This is why normies value status in stuff like collage major, job title, car brand, bank account size, etc. It's because in our monkey days, the monkey with the most bananas was able to attract a mate and successfully pass on their genes. Competition is hardcoded into us, and in the modern world it just takes on a different form. Everything humans do is dictated by our nature, we control so little of who we are it's depressing. Genetic diseases, skin color, height, sex, and intelligence, are all determined at birth. Then we have our environment. A parent could die, you could get an injury, smoking/alcoholic mother, live in a polluted place, toxic culture, family structure, bullying, and social class. Birth and nature basically dictate how 90% of your life will go. Most people don't have enough smarts or willpower to really change their positions in life. But that's reality. Hating how things are can't change reality. The only power we have is to try and learn to live with it, if we want to continue living that is.

Again, in the same vein as my reply to your "I was not made for this life" video, I would say your views are not wrong, but your error is in ruminating over it. I had these same thoughts myself in my college days, but I eventually grew tired of being angry and resentful all the time. It's funny how every generation thinks they are the first to have these notions of rebellion, and individualism, but literally every generation going back to at least the 60s have gone through these phases as they enter adulthood and become disillusioned.. Anyway, eventually I stumbled into a great career I enjoy, found hobbies that bring me happiness and found a partner who completes me. It's worth noting that most of these changes did not materialize until I reached my later 20s and early 30s, and I stopped the pity party. I will add though, that social media did not exist until I was in my mid-late 20s, and it didn't have the influence it has today.

To be honest I really don't like this society. It's not a place that you can connect with always competition. It hurts. And it doesn't care. Idevdualism is great, but who share it with? Internet is supose to be a safe spa to commucate and it's alit of avoidents. My sister says I need a future but also says move, move on move on. Her live is sleeping all day and never going out, always reads Kafka and death. As an autistic person I know how to talk to people this place is not right in the head. It's making me ill mentally because of the outsides outcome what it Chooses to do. My choice was to commucate, their choice is refusing, and it's heavily backed by theese people that are missing out on life, as well as mine. We can't tell people what to do, but look at it. Its all in favour of this and no ones happy with this form of mindset. That dose not make you a bad person to question some that a society itself with people giving this argument of disconnecting values time and time and making you and others unhappy. You deserve connections, you deserve happiness. This place is wrong.
