We spent 4 days there staying at the Eagle Bluff B&B before we did a 4 day trip to the "Khutzeymateen" with Dan Wakeman on the "Sunchaser". (Aussies on holiday, May 2007). Great town, lovely people!!

Thanks for this. I was born in Rupert in 1949. My Dad's job took us away but I've gone back several times over the years. A gem of a town with really friendly people. And yeah, it can be dreary in the fall and winter with rain and decreased hours of sunlight but it's a great place to visit and attractive in many ways for young families and for people who want to sink their hearts and minds into a smaller community. Gonna be there in a couple of weeks. Is Trolls still around?

Nifty little tour, it certainly does look like a nice place. Good views and nice scenery, makes for good therapy against stress. I like my town but doesn't match yours. The grate looks just fine, and I can guess what the price would be exactly: "ridiculous".

I fear that red oak is notorious for wicking water through it capillary system. Pretty sure about this so watch closely. Perhaps some additional sealant in that area will help. As for Rupert, seems a most lovely place. I've pretty much spent my life in large metropolitan areas, my place of birth and growing up was Chicago. I now live in a single suburb that has 60,000 plus people. There is part of me that longs for a much, much simpler and quieter place such as yours. I trust you are enjoying it there and that you are blessed and have good success.
@lifeislikesailing7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that info on the red oak, I will see what options I have to make sure it lasts. :) Yes, I can relate to your situation since I was born and raised in the Vancouver area.

As a norwegian (and sailor) I really enjoy your videos. We have so much in common still so far appart. I was suprised by the sweet weather conditions at this time of the year, but had a look at the weatheforecast, and found it to be as shi** as here on the west coast of norway.

The sole looks great. Prince Rupert--so few people out and about. Maybe because it's freezing? How do you support yourself? Is it easy to find work there? Would you winter there again? Is fish relatively inexpensive?
@lifeislikesailing7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, it was a pretty cold day which is probably why not so many people out. hah I have a regular full time job and yes I would winter here again if I decide to stay. :) Lots of seafood options here for sure. :)

@lifeislikesailing7 жыл бұрын
Yes that tub is pretty cool and yes I moved up here this past summer. There is a series called Cruising Canada's West Coast that documents the move up. :) I'm no expert with wood, so I need to do a little more research on the oak still. :) Glad you are enjoying the videos. :)

Hi Alfy, The vids are great at keeping me motivated. I was suprized to find out you moved, but one must follow the work. I still have not found a boat yet Apperently my taste and my budget are a little off, but i am working on that , If you are looking for crew I would love to come help and at the same time gain some much needed experiance. Just thought i would through that out there. Thanks Alfy
@lifeislikesailing7 жыл бұрын
I'm glad the videos keep you motivated! Yes I moved last summer and there is a series that documents the move. Cruising Canada's West Coast. It takes time to find the right boat for sure, I spent two years looking for this one. I'll let you know if I ever need extra crew. :)

Nice tour, thanks. They do like their cows! Haha. Prince Rupert looks like a swell town, or city. What's the population? Do they attract a lot of tourism in season? The teak grate looks fine. You did a good job. I did exactly the same thing once so I know what was involved. Did you put any finish on?
@lifeislikesailing7 жыл бұрын
You are welcome and thank you! Just teak oil on the wood after. Yes, they like the cow theme here in Cow Bay! ha Prince Rupert is a nice little town that has everything you need. :) I think the population is about 12, 000 and there is a good amount of tourism in the summer months.
