Nollywood movies have greatly improved, so please do your updated research when next you want to yab our nollywood the movies. The so called American movies you guys always compare to nollywood movies or shows, have little or no value. Including the so called American advertisements on TV can never be compared to that of Nigerian. Nigerian TV adverts are waaaay better and of superb quality/value. As someone who lives in the diaspora, watching, #nollywood #movies (e.g. King of Boys, Living in bondage part2, Skin, love is war, The 4th republic, Merry Men , Your Excellency, Delivery boy, Tatu etc) & #series (e.g. Jenifer's diary, The caliphate, Crazy Lovely Cool, Castle & Castle,etc) has been of great impact especially in to us here in the diaspora. There are so many lessons and good values to learn from nollywood movies.👍🏾. Do you know how we wish we could subscribe to DSTv Africa from Canada & America???????? News flash, if you watch American movies often as you praise it on here you will know that, American movies are way more predictable than Nollywood movies. 🤷🏾‍♂️

However, I don't currently live in Nigeria nor Africa hence I don't have access to DSTv (which pains me by the way😰). 2ndly, those people who currently do such movies like the 90's (as you said) have audiences that they appeal to as well. In fact, as someone who lives in the diaspora, I yen to watch movies of the 90's that connects me to my childhood days of growing up in Nigeria 🇳🇬 There are also movies here in America that are shot like those of the 90's and even with poor predictable storylines of no value. The difference is that you don't see most of them aired in the cinema or "yabbed" online. In fact a recent example of a useless American movie that portrays Hollywood in the 90's was out in the cinemas last year. It's called *Once Upon A Time in Hollywood* you can check it out as well!!!. And who is the "international standard" we are referring to??? As long as a movie has messages that connect & impacts audiences, that's what's most important. My point is, the same Nollywood movies we yab anyhow are what most people use as "meme" today on social media platforms to spread laughter, common sense & even earn a living from it!!!! In conclusion, We must appreciate our own and not use western standard as the gold standard always especially when it comes to how we choose to tell our stories in this case "Nollywood movies" .
