I have Asthma and get affected in high altitudes in mountainous states like Colorado. Do you experience thin air when walking the Camino?

At least for Camino Frances, the highest point on Camino is under 5000 feet altitude. Most experts say altitude doesn’t affect breathing until 8,000 feet!

What is the closest city you fly into coming from the states if walking the Camino de Santiago?

You have options depending on where you will start. But most of Camino is most easily accessible from Madrid.

Not saying it's the closest, but I flew into Pamplona via Madrid, overnight in Pamplona, then took the bus to St. Jean.

If you want to do the French (Frances) route or the Portuguese or simply a Spanish route, you have many choices. I flew directly into Porto. Many people start from there.

Lesson 11: The more you spend in expensive hiking equipment, the more you regret your blisters.

Hahaha! I suspect that is probably true. When you have cheap shoes and socks you probably get to blame them. When you spend $180 on a shoe and $25 on socks, its harder to blame the equipment!!

I used running shoes with gel heels. Cost €50 4 years ago. No probs and perfect feet at the end.
