This area looks similar to the southern Oregon, coastal mountains in the United States. Beautiful area! We don’t have a hog problem but a cougar issue, no natural predators other than man, the banned hunting them with hounds, now the cats take farm animals right out of barns like shopping at the meat shop. The farm up the road lost 56 kid goats just this year to them.

Is Kiwi a fox terrier? A bit mixed or straight foxy? We used to breed unregistered Fox terrier in the Kaipara Hills. Our breeding batch was an INCREDIBLE dog. Some of the males cam out very big and very muscular, almost twice good strong little Kiwi here.
@terrybicker36214 жыл бұрын
Good to see the birds flourishing, looks like your trapping is doing the business...or is it the 1080 ;)
@KeepingItWild4 жыл бұрын
Haha no 1080 in this area. I won’t take credit for it either though , when there’s a natural food source like that the birds seem to be there regardless of pest control or the lack of it.
@slow_diver3 жыл бұрын
@@KeepingItWild Some pretty decent pest control down your way I thought. Saw some good stoat/ferret/rat lines when tramping, some DOC and some volunteer.
@roilhead3 жыл бұрын
@@slow_diver DoC's volunteer crews would be the least effective trappers arround. The Tui came in for the abundant food source. Much like what happens after a 1080 drop after this hidious poison has killed everything and created the abundant food source. That is when DoC turns up and counts the birds and says 'look at us we have more birds now'... BAN 1080 NOW!

Been loving your work keep it up bro. Have just recently found your vids. Loving the wild food ones. Just a suggestion when you do the vids would be awesome to know what other plants or berries you could accidentally mix them up for (if any) and maybe a vid on poisonous berries you can't eat. Just so ppl can feel confident they not going to accidentally eat something that could make them sick.
