Thanks for the video mate. I have the chance to work for Hoyer. I am new to fuel, though. Would you say that as a tanker driver you are exposed to chemicals whilst on the job? Fumes, gasses, etc...?

Hello chap , if you can get onto fuel I’d say you’re doing well, I’ve limited experience on fuel but have gone into buncefield after it exploded to clean up so I’d say the biggest risk is from sparks rather than fumes. You’d be fully trained anyway, chemical tankers is where the worst fumes are but as long as you wear the correct ppe you’ll be sound , I was on waste water / sewage for many years without respirators , probably why I’ve a good immune system. @@Graham-sj1sc Thanks for the pointers! I have made up my mind and decided not to accept the offer. The reason being is that currently, I make more money delivering to supermarkets than I would be when working with the fuel where the responsibility seems to be greatly elevated. Thank you for your help though! :)

Hello, other than going onto a tanker manufacturing web site and asking the question I’m not sure , I can only tell you what I know. Uk tankers up until I last used them , pressure was set to a max of 1.bar , European was 2.bar , under vacuum uk was 0.5 bar . Pressure relief valves (prv) on uk vac tankers blow off when max pressure is reached. I’ve only experience on vac tankers, powder tankers and other varieties may be different. What time do you have to start at in the morning? Is the salary good? I heard you can earn up to £40k a year. I’m currently a bus driver thinking about moving into Lorry driving. Do you recommend it or would I be best staying were I am?

Hello chap , I’m no longer on tankers , but 40k plus is possible depending on the company, tramping pays more if you’re prepared to stay out all week. Having never been a bus driver I can’t give you a honest comparison but if you research a job well enough then there’s no reason you can’t up your earnings a fair bit . Good luck with your choice 👍🏻

Hello, yes it was a non tip tanker , it's not that common to get an artic tipping sludge tanker .Eight wheeler tankers tend to be tippers , powder / flour tanks are tipping trailers . Sadly after 26years on tankers due to covid all drivers were furloughed and after 4 months made redundant . I am now on low loaders , plant , i may put vids on if there's any interest . thanks for watching and comment .
