Summer of 94, job in NYC driving around making copy paper deliveries to companies, the van had at least 5000 watts of Nakamichi in it so........LOA (River Runs Red), Type O (Bloody Kisses) and COC (Deliverance) non-stop at extreme high volumes, all windows down. Wore out 2 copies of each cassette. What a great fucking Summer that was.

I remember when this video premiered on Headbangers Ball (which I recorded every episode!), man I wore that poor VHS tape out rewinding this video over and over to watch it. I already owned Urban Discipline, but LOA definitely had their own style. River Runs Red is one of the only albums that I've listened to consistently throughout my life and if anything it has only grown more powerful. The vocals, the melodies, the lyrics. This album just captures a perfect aesthetic.. it also has a distinct autumn feel to me for some reason, like October/November depression, emptiness

Also about Keith/Mina's vocals, his vocal coach back in the RRR days was the same vocal coach for Bon Jovi - Roadrunner were investing big dollars cause they clearly saw the talent in Keith, now Mina. Honestly didn't like Ugly at all when it dropped but I've grown to really love it and now that I'm in my 40's I don't think there's a bad song on it, Ugly is absolutely incredible. Soul Searching Sun as well - in fact SSS is probably my #2 fav after RRR

I have to admit, when I first saw these guys, I thought they were a bunch of posers. After listening to the album more and getting to grips with the craftsmanship in the music, the way they let it breathe and learning more about Caputo's life, it became one of my favourite nostalgic albums. There still isn't enough of this kind of groove out there. Acid Bath are way up there too.

You got that look in your eye again It's working overtime Worried about where I'm gonna spend my life But it's much too late, I said it's much too late I said it's much too late to start picking fights You said: where ya been, where ya going Where ya going to, where ya going to, where are ya going? 'Cause I'll be right here, yeah Can it wait, can't you wait, can't you wait Just a minute now, just a minute now, come on I need some air to breathe I need some space, just leave 'Cause I'm colder than ever colder than ever I said I'm colder than ever I'm empty Empty through and through Someday they'll see, someday I'll be Unwanting of somewhere to hide But for now I'll take shelter Deep in the back of my mind Can it wait? Can't you wait? Can't you wait? 'Cause I ain't ready to lay it on the line I still shake, I still shake I still shake And from this chill in my spine I've got this chill oh yeah In the back of my spine Baby all the time now Chilling my bones, chilling all alone now Find a way, find a way, I've found a way To cope with the everyday now Raise your hands if you understand 'Cause I'm colder than ever colder than ever I said I'm colder than ever I'm empty Empty through and through Smiling's just a phrase yeah And nothing can phrase me Smiling's just a phrase yeah And nothing can phrase me Come on

About every 8 years I remember that I forgot about this sick band... Randomly just remembered while at work. Stopped working, KZbind it, screenshot so I won't forget again.

Roadrunner Records were on their $#!t back then. I remember buying Sepultura's Arise in '91 and they had a 2-sided mini flyer inside the cd case that displayed their entire catalog of metal bands that were just as good. What happened?!!!

So many people here arguing about what category of music this is. 'It's sludge.' 'No, it's hardcore!' Blah, blah, blah. Fuck categories! There are only two categories; good music and bad music. Good music is an honest expression of a musician's emotions and creativity. It doesn't matter if good music sounds like metal, pop, country or rap. Bad music is an expression of a musician's desire to be popular and it doesn't matter what it sounds like because it will always sound like shit. LOA is fuckin' awesome! Doesn't matter if they're hardcore, sludge, whatever. They rock!

Wow, brings back some memories, feelings, adrenaline, sadness, fear. As a guitar player and drummer (wannabe singer;) ) I always loved LoA's dynamics. Back in these days Pantera and Sepultura were favs but the NY scene was awesome and still leaves a mark on my heart and soul. I was just getting my taste of Tool back then (They are my favorite hands down for the last 20 years). Man am I that old?

Had a chance to hang out with them when they were in Albany. This album and their show will always bring it home for me to those days of Type O, Stigmata, Slayer, And all the rest of the good music that still makes me stomp and rage in my 50s.
