In this interview, Amir and his family share their personal stories of resilience, hardship, and hope. They talk about their daily lives, working in grocery stores or construction to make ends meet, and the constant fear of being detained due to their lack of documentation. Despite living in Sabah for decades, they face ongoing struggles to obtain legal status, often relying on untrustworthy "agents" for help. Their dreams are modest-ensuring their children can read, count, and perhaps one day gain proper documentation for a better future. Through their words, we get a glimpse into the challenges faced by stateless people in Malaysia and their unrelenting hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Note: The name "Amir" is fictitious to safeguard the individuals in this interview.
