That is stunningly beautiful country, the South Dakota prairie. My mother grew up there, south of a tiny town called Interior, and I visited quite a few times until the 1970s when my grandparents sold the ranch. I can't tell you how often I've longed to see it again, to feel the lovely, soft breeze and hear the crickets and see the entire heavens at night. The Pineridge Sioux are so desperately poor, have many serious troubles, and the US Government continues to care nothing about them. This is true for most tribes around the country, but mostly so for the Pineridge Sioux. I am happy to see people move back and help build their community. It's a difficult task. The gov't "magnanimously" built new houses for many of the residents, who were living in falling-down shacks, but the very least this country owes them is built in water, plumbing, heating systems, good healthcare and education. It's a myth that the gov't "takes care" of medical care and all other Native American needs. It does the barest minimum , much without continued funding. Two things urgently needed are comprehensive addiction treatment and mental health services - not tokens! 🌠 Sending my love to the people of Pine Ridge, from an old lady in Oregon.🌲

Wowitan Uha Mani, you had a sweat ceremony for me in August 2011 with the help of Jeremy. I had been in three sweats before, but couldn't stay in for the hole term except once. Your comments to me afterwards was, "You came to me 1 for 3, and you leave 3 out of 4"! Thanks again for the ceremony it helped me get done with my purpose... to get The Black Hills back for our people's, and Turtle Island as well! Blessings to all my brothers and sisters!. Lightfoot

I am proud to be Lakota. Living among the Yakama in PNW. They are a gracious happy tribe. I powwow, hold ceremonies and sweat with them. Last time……..I was back in SD Rex was in 2004 after my Ina walked on. My cante with forever be with my people. I’ve bought stoves and fuel for families when able. I am far away but do not forget them. The Red Road is the only road for me. Prayers for my people. 🙏❤️. A’ho Free Leonard Peltier now. The FBI lied and Lakota died. We don’t forget you, our brother! Thank you for sharing. I love the Lakota and that they are like one big family and believe in oneness, and help each other so much - being a white South African grandmother, my heart went out to the elderly and the grandmothers without running water and children running in with buckets for their grandmothers - I couldn’t believe there is no running water there - it happens here also in some areas, but not that it is a good thing but when you look at it compared to America, South Africa is very much a third world country. At present, I am trying to learn Lakota (love the language) but it is a bit difficult as I don’t have anyone to practice the tongue with, but I’m persevering. I would love to send money to help but the amount would just about go down to nothing with the Rand/Dollar exchange rate. Will be praying for all.

This past year. We sent 2 17 foot trailers full of clothing for all ages. Personal care Packages. Coats, Blankets… boots, shoes. Adult diapers for both men and women. Beginning in October or November. This was gifted through The Blue Mountains Sundance Society. Also Montana reservations. And Umatilla Reservation. As well as the Outreach for Homeless Natives in Portland Oregon. Aho

I see all the tribes which were once extinguished in this earth to return, and when the Native American tribes return with all their regal earthly bright colours and feathers, to set free the earth from its prison, the whole world will rejoice more than any other tribe who had returned. The rejoicing will be so loud and joyful that the Great Spirit will send forth a beautiful rainbow amongst a shower and the earth warrior spirits which were once taken from us will come without fear or any shame and sit on their rightful throne which is Mother Earth beneath their feet 🌎🪶🦅💕☀️🌈 this land belongs to them and this land needs them now more than ever

How ? They are out on the grasslands.. nobody goes there for any casino like some other tribes ( which seem to benefit few in tribes anyway ).. the lands they are in were great for living with the Buffalo..maybe an intertribal council can form a special group for a source of resources donated to them..the government doesn't give them much..some don't have heat.. don't have good food..water is more than likely a problem

Great ideas, but it's tough because N & S Dakota are geographically/physically far distances away from potential people who would like to come for tourism. Not to mention the weather!!! The winter weather. And the summer weather.😅😅😅 The good news is that the Lakota do and are helping themselves- just look at the big legal battles they are holding their own on like changing laws to the foster system, and worldwide awareness of DAPL. I really admire the work being done by Thunder Valley CDC for example. And the work being done by these fine people!❤

@princebuster93 . Jesus is good though the people here are in a situation ..a ststem..that is among the worst of the reservation outcomes..they are in thier own lands in small places where they were forced to be..thier lands were made for Buffalo life.. we know what happened with the Buffalo.. how can they be prosperous now in any way(s) ? To me, they are a tribe that should have more government help than many others simply because of the particular circumstances they ( Gov.) have created with the people there.

@@RedEdgedSavage God loves all you people on the reservations, if only you all would seek him, he would help and bless you. You have to be willing to go beyond this world for help, because God exists outside of this system on earth, but hears our cries, broken hearts, sorrow and pain. Wherever you are around the world and whatever your circumstances, I know from my own painful experience that God has always been there waiting for me to ask, to receive the truth from him, and be set free from the mental bondage of the darkness down here. Eternal life is the free gift of God to all that simply believe in his only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ ❤️

He was kind enough to have ceremony for my family in Denver back in about '93 or '94. I recall he wore sunglasses then, except not in ceremony of course. He was kind despite my ignorance in how to approach him in the traditional way. It's an experience that set me on a path of "coincidences". I hope very much that I'll be able to meet up with him again. I have some confusion about why things turned out the way they did, but mostly, to offer a chanunpa and say wopila.
