ABOUT THE DOOR I REFER TO: I'm talking about the regular ol' door you use to enter and exit the bus. This is not an emergency door or anything, if the door to enter/exit the bus is CLOSED/LOCKED do not and I mean DO NOT fuck with it. You may get kicked off. If you have to fuck with it, play dumb! lol

As a greyhound driver I always ask my passengers that if they're going to keep a conversation or listen to music to please keep them low for the courtesy of their fellow passengers... and zero tolerance for harassment or any type of disrespect to any passenger... most of the time my passengers are pleased on how I operate and handle things on my bus, glad to know you had a good driver and that you enjoyed your trip... thank you for going greyhound 😊

Type in the address of your stop on google maps and turn your location on. Watching the location mark get closer to the destination is always relieving. It also helps anyone who cant hear the driver's anouncments.

I learned one thing from taking greyhound alot when the bus driver stops at a meal stop and gives you a time to be back on the bus pay attention to the time and be back at that time or else they will leave you behind and you will be stuck until another bus shows up I never had that happen to me but greyhound is usually on a schedule so pay attention to the time.

I think this is great except I got stuck on with the idea that you always have to have videos or music to fill your senses. Watching the passing countryside even if its dark is what people used to do and it's quite satisfying. I remember taking an Amtrak cross country and by watching out the window, wound up seeing a house on fire with the fire trucks rushing in.
@Livsfitz
@Livsfitz 7 жыл бұрын
I do both! Looking out the window at new places across the country is one of the best parts, maybe the only good part, about taking Greyhound at all!

Why not both? I love looking out the window. I hate crowds, public places and myraid noises. My solution would be looking out the window while wearing headphones music to drown out the crowded noises.

My best driver was a young rather large black woman. I nicknamed her "big momma". At the beginning of the trip she stood up and read everyone the riot act. She reviewed all the potential things that could cause you to get kicked off HER bus. Big momma was serious. I can tell you there were no problems on that bus. Everyone was quiet as a church mouse. Great trip thanks to big momma

Has anyone else had trouble getting your full refund from Greyhound after they cancelled the service. All other transportation modes that I was attempting to book to get my daughter away from the storm in Virginia showed that their flights or trips were cancelled or unavailable due to weather (several airlines, amtrack, and Mega bus). I went to greyhound and they showed that they were still booking. I booked the trip for tomorrow 9/13/18. Greyhound cancelled the trip and when my husband and I called about our refund we were told that we could not get the full refund. We stayed on the phone for a long period of time with 2 representatives and a supervisor from the Philippines. The Supervisor was rude and told us that she did not personally take our payment. We were told that since our trip was for tomorrow, we have to call back tomorrow to get our refund, even though they cancelled the trip. I wonder how many more people Greyhound is booking know that the trip is cancelled, and not giving them the full refund or immediate refund!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we don't get our money back in full tomorrow we will seek legal remedy.

i have questions, ive never used a bus before ever...1) how do i know the bus that pulls up at the stop is the one i need to be on? 2) when theres layovers (from 20 mins to 2 hours) can u stay on the bus or do they make you get off. 3) how do you get back on the bus? is there a number on your ticket they call out that matches a number on the bus or something.
@Livsfitz
@Livsfitz 6 жыл бұрын
1. It will say it's final destination outside above the windshield, bigger bus stops will have specific lines for certain places, if not, just ask! 2. It depends on what's happening. If it's a meal stop for 20 minutes, you can stay on. I've had a few times where even if I'm just going to board the same bus and keep going, they make everyone exit but in cases like that you can leave your things on the bus. 3. Everyone just lines up to get on the bus, I really can't remember if there are numbers, I'm 90% certain there aren't because I remember wanting to line up early so I can make sure my seat plugs work and make sure I can try and sit alone. Thanks for all your questions! Hoped this helped!
@littlewn9280
@littlewn9280 6 жыл бұрын
Dark Bloom you really will have to pay attention because all station are not consistent...you really have to go to the front ticket counter..they will tell you what time and which line to get into....with each ticket it will show you if you transfer or not...then you should also have a printed schedule behind those tickets that tell you the other cities you stop at and how long......but,, you can't always go by the layover times,, because it depends on how early or late your bus arrives....for example:::: you are traveling from New York to Atlanta,,. You might transfer in Baltimore, richmond , maybe Raleigh , just a guess,,,, if you have a layover in Richmond for 20 minutes and your transfer bus leaves at 10:05,, and your bus gets their late,, you may have to get them to reprint your ticket and may have to wait for the next bus,, but always ask the ticket counter first....and whenever the bus makes mini stops to cities that are Not your destination,, make sure you ask the driver if you need a reboarding pass to get back on....sometimes they hand it to you and sometimes they forget...you just got to pay attention to everything and keep asking questions..good luck!

I'm planning a one-way trip. I loved your bluntness! Do you recommend say a carry-on bag and backpack on the bus and then a duffel bag and a large suitcase under the bus...or just two suitcases under? I'm very nervous! First time here and 16-18 hours :). Oh and would they say something if you attached a pillow to a suitcase?
@Livsfitz
@Livsfitz 7 жыл бұрын
I would recommend having your backpack with you and two suitcases under the bus. They sometimes transfer your suitcases for you, so it's less to carry for you when they do and you don't have to lug your carry on bag with you when they make everyone get off the bus to transfer! I wouldn't recommend putting the pillow on the suitcase just because the bus is probably filthy underneath where all the luggage goes, maybe you could take it on the bus for extra comfort! But I don't think they would say anything about it honestly, it's just a pillow. Enjoy your trip!

Careful about trying to sit alone. Our bus had only one seat left from Tucson to Phoenix and this woman put her stuff on that seat. Then, we picked up a girl in Casa Grande and she was looking for a seat. Finding the seat with this lady's stuff she asked if the lady could move her stuff and the lady sneered the seat was taken. The driver hearing this came back and told her to move her stuff. The lady got very snippy and complained, the girl apologized and helped her move the stuff to the overhead storage. The lady still complained all the way and the girl said if it was any consolation to her she was getting off in Phoenix to catch a plane out of Sky Harbor. The last 63 miles were not fun.....I was right behind them! Ugh!!!

They're both fine, the one in Phoenix is just located in a very secluded area away from the airport. It's rather spacious and clean inside, but you'll always have shady figureheads, it's greyhound we're talking about. The Tucson station is fine, but is a lot smaller.

When I was a kid my mom always took me and my brother everywhere using public transportation. It's a good thing to do with kids so that they learn how to use it, what it's like and how not to be an asshole. It's really not difficult, people should just use public transportation more to get used to it. Sure, I love my car, but I don't want to be too dependent on it.

It depends, sometimes you have to transfer buses so you'd obviously be getting off. Or you could stay on the bus if there's no transfer and they actually let you stay on but sometimes no matter what they have you get off. You'll never be stuck outside though, there's always a food joint or actual bus pit stop to go in to.

Another tip is that when you’re at a terminal on a layover, be careful of who approaches you. Not all greyhound stations are like this, but some of them have shady individuals who frequent them. Sometimes they’re just homeless people who really do need help, other times they’re trying to get you alone for more nefarious reasons. This isn’t saying you should be paranoid that people are gonna try to hurt or rob you, but I’ve seen plenty of times when that did happen to people. Best way to avoid that is to stay inside the terminal and if you’re a smoker stay near the entrance when you go outside to smoke. Also, bring a knife or some form of protection with you.

@@Livsfitz true... But you don't need to be self centered either... And who actually cares if the Wifi works or the power outlets? When I take a trip. I always obverse my environment... And enjoy the senery. With Amtrak they always work anyways.

They don't have Amtrak out of where I live which is Vegas you have to get to Needles Ca to get it.

@@TrueMathSquare I care if the power outlets work because I would like a cell phone when traveling alone. Some people need Wifi or their phone won't work, not everyone has data. When you're on a 3 day trip simply looking out of the window won't cut it after awhile.

@@Livsfitz Just turn it off. Just use it for important stuff. I can make phones last for days on a single charge by doing that.

I travel over 60 thousand miles a year on greyhound for work. Greyhound sucks but I have no choice. People like you make it worse. Do you ever shut up and listen to world around you. So much more I could say but then I would be just like you. Almost forgot I weigh 375. I try to set next to smaller people for every ones benefit. Next time it might be you.

robert Spencer how reliable is it for let's say work? Are they consistent with arrival and departure times? I'm thinking about using the bus to commute about 140 miles per weekend over the winter for Drumline stuff. I live in Colorado where it is sometimes snowy in the winter. Any comments will help, thanks

Very unreliable. If you have to be there on time don't take greyhound. My last ten trip 6 were late or cancelled and cancel means usually a 12 hour delay. And to the shallow little girl. I could explain it to you but I still doubt you would under stand.

I disagree with most of this . If or when something bad happens you are going to be emotion, mentally and physically completely unprepared. You are not going to know it is happening. That is just the way it is. Just respond with the fierceness of a tiger if the BS is directed towards you. Only eat when your hungry not whenever you want to.
