I've seen a lot of your videos. Great job and thank you! But please be sure to take care of yourself. These videos are so valuable but you seem off. Keep your head up my friend. My son has committed to USCG. I've learned a lot about this service watching you and a few others.

I’m from San Diego I noticed a O.B. hat in your most recent videos!! Thank you for all your information. May I ask about prior marijuana use? How does the CG react to this and also in high school I did recreationally use some illegal substances. Will this affect TS clearance opportunities or enlistment?
@Henry_FargoАй бұрын
Nice, San Diego is awesome 😎 You would have to go through MEPs before getting accepted into the service. Have you been able to reach out to a recruiter yet? If not, I would start there and get through the MEPs process. Once you finish that, you can try to get a rate/job at the branch you choose that gives you a TS clearance like IS. If you don't smoke or use drugs now, you should be okay to join the service, but just know getting a Secret clearance or TS clearance, you will get asked about everything in your past. Depending on your application, they will evaluate and interview you to see if you can obtain the clearance. This process can take a long time if they have a lot of digging to do.

If you plan on making a career in Coast Guard are you locked into your first choice? Example if you go into Culinary right off can you change over to something else after your first 4 years or are you stuck in your first choice. Thanks you.
@Henry_Fargo4 ай бұрын
Great question! Right now the Coast Guard is allowing some members to switch over to critical ratings, but it is a long process at times. If for some reason you just can't decide on what Rate to choose you can try going in as a Non-Rate. They have bonuses attached to critical rating so if you need some money and one of those rates catch your attention it could be a good choice.

Good video ! What are some benefits in the coast guard ?
@Henry_Fargo4 ай бұрын
They have your traditional benefits for example; Medical insurance, Retirement programs, Schooling, Discounts, Travel, Paid housing. It can go on forever.... Check out their website when you get a chance to really inform yourself with all their benefits.

I don't want to be a nonrate I'm a 30 year old commercial pilot I want to join but not as a nonrate
@Henry_FargoАй бұрын
Try joining as an officer or check out their direct commission programs.
@Henry_FargoАй бұрын
I will not lie; being a 30-year-old Nonrate could be challenging, but you do learn a lot. Also, you can check out the Boot-to-A rates and become a petty officer in as little as 4ish months.
@deadliftpapi94Ай бұрын
@@Henry_Fargo I’m very interested in the boot to A rates I don’t have a 4 year degree yet only 2, and do you have a video for Boot to A rates? I like AMT but I’m open to anything. My recruiter didn’t go into it much he just said that there were some but didn’t tell me which ones I could do.
