I think you should do your own mini-series with your dad. Not for us, but for yourself. Record videos and/or audio of questions about his life, about you, about anything. It’s nice to be able to hear their voice and their thoughts on days that are hard. Being a caretaker is hard but support is needed. The Jems and your IRL community got you

Jemima, I have never written a comment but felt that I needed to encourage you. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been the designated caregiver for my Dad. You do need some alone time but don't do it for a long period. Please talk to a therapist or a caregiver group as you transition to a "new normal". Also, what I have learned that if you find a few hours every week make sure you take some "me" time. I will keep you and your Dad in my prayers 🙏🏾

Love this advice and definitely recommend for anyone during this difficult period of life. I lost my daddy 2 weeks after I graduated high school so back in the early 2000s where we didn’t record much or even take pictures unless it was an event. I’d give anything to remember how his voice sounded or even the way he walked as we do lose the ability to remember.

Jemima, this is my first time commenting outside of sending ❤s to your content. I’m a much older woman (60’s) and have been following you from the beginning. You are the reason I am actually wearing ‘waist beads’ on my plus size body amongst other fashion ideas and loving it!😊😊 I look forward to each post and am extremely proud of you and your growth. Your “Jem-squad” is behind you 💯 and encourage you to take care of yourself first and foremost so that you can be there for those that will need you. Speaking from the experience of being a caregiver to my mother and husband at the same time, while working in law enforcement and attending school full-time, we can actually lose ourselves by trying ‘to always be there’. I have no regrets as they were given the absolute best of me as I had been given from them. It will be almost twenty years now that I lost both within months of each other, but I would do it all over again. The only thing different I would do is to take time to take of me during the process and I am encouraging you to do the same. We got you over here and will be there in any capacity that you need. And to all of your “Squad”, thank you all for your journeys of resilience and the support we are now giving to our internet colleague, sister-friend, niece! Much love Jemima, you are truly a JEM!

Jemima, as you can tell by the comments, everyone has experienced some kind of trial and tribulation in their lives. I lost my 26 year old daughter to stage four melanoma. By the time it was discovered, we had 16 days left until her beautiful soul left us. Enjoy the time you have left with your father and don’t even think about us. This time with him is priceless. I would have never made it through my daughters passing without my faith in God. if I start to worry about something, I just give it to God. He already knows what the outcome will be. We will always be here for you. You make me laugh and have so much fun even though I’m living vicariously through you😊 I signed up to be on the algorithm train where we will be watching your videos every day nonstop. I love you Jemima and you and your father are in my thoughts and prayers ❤❤❤

I think you should make this a series " Cardigan Chronicles" where you put on a cardy and give us an update on your mental health, not to spill all your tea, but just to let us know if you're ok or if there is anything you need or we can do for you. I am WAYYYYYY older than you ,but I get it sis, I really do. I moved from Suitland ( Shout out DMV) to GA and 3 months later my mom died. So I bought a house with a bedroom on the main level so Daddy could come to GA and live with me. And he absolutely refused to leave his home. I fought it for years, but finally gave in, accepted the fact that he will be in hi sown home until the bitter end, Daddy is 85, now my life is coordinating home health aides, adult day care, video doctor visits, prescriptions refills, nutritionist visits, door dash and meal deliveries, constant monthly ( sometimes weekly) traveling back and forth ( yes i am still in GA and Daddy is in MD) and just trying to maintain. I feel you, I see you, I love you and will do whatever you need to help you in any way I can.

My son and I moved back home early last year (I just turned 55). My grandmother was 93 and she was giving my mom a hard time. So, I moved in with them to help my mom and to be closer to my son's school where he could get the school bus and I didn't have to drive him. My grandmother passed last October at 94 and my son graduated high school this past May. However, I can't leave my mom because now she needs me. It happens. Life be lifeing. Do what you need to do for you and your dad. When I moved back to this area I also became my dad's medical person so I am taking him back and forth to the doctor and managing some of his business. It is a part of being an adult with aging parents. Post the content you want and if you can't post we will keep you in our prayers. Take care of your family.

I took care of my dad from 2017 until he passed in 2021 at age 88. It was an honor not everyone gets, but its also emotionally and, at times, physically taxing. You have an added layer in that your means of living relies on sharing parts of your life with the world, highs and lows. You did the right thing by telling us, thank you. You are human first and a content creator somewhere way down on the list. Do what you need to do for you and your Dad, put up videos when you can and be yourself, however you feel, we know you. I personally plan to stream your old videos even in the background so the algorithm keeps feeding. Hopefully all will do the same. Take care.

I took care of my mother with Alzheimer's for 3 yrs up until her passing in 2022. What helped me is looking at as a privilege. You get to take care of one of the people that brought you in this world. You don't owe the world anything or an explanation when dealing with real life. Take your time, go through your process. Your days ones will be there to hold you up on the days you can't do it yourself. I've been a Jem for quite awhile...and I PROMISE you, that won't change! We'll be here waiting. What God has for you, will always be there. Put it in His hand my girl. Praying for your strength and that God holds your hand through it all! Love you girl! ❤

Miss Jemima... the once in a while when I have heard you mentioned your father you came off as grateful, sincere, loving and caring with so much affection for him. I can only imagine the impact the situation is having you. Caregiver mode is real...and taxing. May the power if you believe protect, strengthen, maintain and cover you as you step into this role for your father. This Jem will still be here with my 👍 up and sharing your content. Well wishes always !

My mom was in the hospital for a long time, what a blessing you are for your father that you are moving to be with him. I felt bad for all the people around my mom that didn't have anyone there for them. I found Miss Jemima after my mom passed. I wasn't able to do anything, just getting through my days. Miss Jemima thank you for picking me up, I'm crying typing this, I couldn't do my makeup, hair, I just put clothes on and went to work. I swear on everything when I found you, you helped me pick myself up and get interested in doing things to feel good again. Sending up prayers for you as you journey to care for your daddy.

I was a very late in life baby, so my family was much older than usual. I took care of my grandparents and my parents until they all passed. My mom went last and I was only 33. That was decades ago, and I still miss them terribly. I put my entire life on hold to help them, but I don't regret a minute of it. Take care of yourself too. You can't keep someone else warm by setting yourself on fire.

I think all content creators should tread lightly with sharing their personal life. Especially if you take comments seriously. You are still able to create but keep what is sensitive too you to yourself. As a viewer of don’t mind not being in the know of all someone business. People are just nosey. . I hope you find your way. Real Fans going to support you regardless.

I don’t think I’ve ever commented before now. Life is short and very precious. Go take care of your Dad and do life with him for as long as God grants you. You can use your platform to be a diary or just a platform to help you get some heavy ish off your chest to make sure your mental health is being looked after too. Don’t get on here and fake the funk and bottle up your emotions because that won’t be healthy for you. And as much as you might not want to be this vulnerable with us Gems, I’m sure there are others out here possibly going through a similar situation as you. I think I was given maybe three weeks when my father’s health took a turn for the worse. I was in such denial and spiraled for years. So get your feelings out and try to heal even while he’s living. Your cross country vlogs and life in the A can resume later. Sending you much love!
