Driving a VF8 Plus is a joy, and I have been driving my VF8 Plus for almost 8 months. The EV having dual motors, is smooth and powerful with 402 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. Surprisingly, the VF8 is as good and reliable as expected. After having driven the VF8, I would never go back to any gasoline/hybrid cars because the VF8 has so many high-tech features including blind spot warning, HUD and ADAS, which truly help improve the car safety standards. The software of the VF8 is probably so sensitive that it will send out all the warnings about the EV conditions on the infotainment screen, which is sometimes bugging some EV drivers. However, I like this safety feature because the warnings actually let you know what's happening to the EV, so you can contact Vinfast for a checkup/inspection. It's just like having a health monitoring device on your wrist warning about your health conditions such as abnormal blood pressure or blood sugar levels, and irregular heartbeats. In short, it saves lives. If you let the EV sit for a few days, it will spit out many false warnings on the infotainment screen when you start driving it, but after 30 minutes all the false warnings will go away. Also, it takes about 26-30 minutes to charge the EV battery from 20% to 80% at an Electrify America Supercharger. With a 65% battery (from 80% down to 15%) on a single charge, the VF8 Plus on ADAS at the speed of 65 miles/hr (roughly 100 Km/hr) can travel up to about 170 miles (about 273 Km) in a normal weather condition of California, without using any AC. In addition, the EV maker offers a great battery warranty of 10 years or 125,000 miles (200,000 Km), whichever comes first. After all, Vinfast VF8 is not a perfect EV, but it's absolutely a great EV getting me safely and reliably from point A to point B without breaking my bank. Guess how much I pay a month to lease my VF8 Plus! After a $200 deposit and the trade in of my old hybrid car, I pay about $280/month to lease a 2023 VF8 Plus for 3 years. On average I pay roughly $9/day, which is even cheaper than McDonald's Big Mac combo meal.

11:30 Almost western drivers complain 1 second delay on Fully accelaration pedal. VF8 have heavy and constant toure power, so its feature will be a protection when vf8 is your first EV ever. Fast acceleration and fast speed are two of reasons can lead to catch fire easily. Until now, over 80k evs, 50k bikes and hundreds ebus are not catching fire from main HV battery.

You can actually move the car without putting on the seat belt, you HAVE to take the Parking brake off. That's something you have to do for the car to move. The heater, you'll have to increase the temp up way past where you want it to be, once it warms up, then you can lower it. The turn signal lever is a built-in IQ test. You can adjust how much interference the Lane Assist feature will intervene, ADAS is pretty good, as good as anything else.

Indeed, you need to EITHER put the seatbelt on, and it will release the brake when you go into P/R, OR use that brake release switch (so I almost never use the switch). Heat... I find I get heat (and great defrost) much quicker than an ICE vehicle, where you have to wait for the engine to warm up first 🤷 No problem with the suspension BTW, and an aerospace engineer prof tested it with all sorts of accelerometers and found it generally better than 3 different teslas and 2 luxury ICE vehicles he was able to compare with. Had my VF8 eco for over a year, and love it. The "Deep ocean" green colour is gorgeous, my friends call it "British Motor Racing Green" but it sparkles in bright sunlight too. Love the Pininfarina curves, and BMW parts. HUD is glorious, like a fighter jet. ADAS is my autopilot, and very competent! AWD grips the road, and oh yes it GOES when I floor it. HATE it when I have to drive a gas car, so laggy, so disconnected from the road, so noisy, so smelly 😕

It is mandatory to wear seat belts because in Vietnam, wearing seat belts is mandatory. If you do not comply, you will be fined through a cold camera if caught. Obviously, Vinfast has kept that feature intact on the international version

SPACE for a spare tire under the trunk (and quite a few tools and cables and things) but not included. Does include a kit with a 12V electric pump, and a tank of sealing goo that you can squirt in to fix a flat and reinflate. Not needed to use it yet, but assume it will do the job 🤷‍♂

Test driven one. Pretty good. Cheap materials and some squeeks did not bother me too much. What make it hard to drive is screen with multiple colors. What I would really appreciate is opportunity to dim it off during the drive. It really hit my eyes very badly

Hey, how's the charging situation up in Canada? It's pretty bad here in the States; only Tesla chargers are reliable, which is why I ended up getting a Honda hybrid instead of a full electric car.

One road across the top of Lake Huron famously had some issues a few years back when a 300km stretch with ONE DCFC was broken for many weeks. This left a lot of EV road-trippers stranded. They have since fixed those, and also added 2 other places you can top up along that stretch. Pretty good L3 DCFC at regular intervals along all the main highways now. Most cities also have plenty of L2 "destination charging" at many cinemas, malls, restaurants, hotels, parking lots, etc, even some AirBnBs. Get off the highways, "into the sticks" somewhere a bit more rural or wild, and it starts to dry up a bit, but with 240km range in the VF8, you're rarely more than 100km away from a major highway, so usually fine with minimal planning (and there's several good apps for that)

The 2022 and early 2023 CITY EDITION was pretty badly reviewed. The Standard Edition already fixed everything by mid-2023. Newer US reviews, and all reviews outside the US have been much more positive, as they never saw the City Edition.
