I've seen this interview many times, including way back when it first aired. It always makes me laugh -- and cry. Lucy wanted so much to make the show work. And Gary Collins got her to open up about so many things.

I believe the last 5 episodes never aired. I think the show started to find its footing at that point but nobody ever got a chance to see them. I think they actually canceled the show while her first husband Desi Arnaz was dying

Not sad this sit-com was horrible! Even Lucy has said she did not like it nor believe in it! I bought the DVD's simply because it was Lucy, not to watch!

That’s odd she’s say that because the producers and Lucy offered Audrey Meadows a permanent role on the show as her sister and AM said no way.

Because she wanted to be center of attention and she was fearful of another person taking over the show especially a woman let's be frank, and Carol Brunett, or Bea Ruth, kept their writers updated and didn't mind others outshine them.

I’m curious if anybody else has the same thought - when she talks about being able to remember dates of certain things she mentions her children and is able to mention Gary by name but only at the end of that statement does she say “and when I was first married…” - this was within weeks of Desi’s death and in her heartbreak I’m thinking she couldn’t even bring herself to mention him by name because of her sadness. You see her reaction to Vivian and how broken up she was, you can only imagine what she felt like knowing she was about the lose her true soulmate… ❤

I think what we miss in the Life with Lucy is that, she being older, was not able to do the physical antics that has us rotating with laughter. Even so, there was still a lot of talent in her that they just didn’t take advantage of. And some of the other actors didn’t bring much to the table. Still love Lucy! She was and is the BEST!!❤

I always loved Ann Sothern - I never knew Lucy looked up to her! Both are great comediennes, but very different styles - I think Life with Lucy was cancelled too soon - it was worth watching - and the cast was not bad in my opinion.

Everyone seems to want to talk about how terrible the show was and I'm certainly not going to claim there was anything to enjoy about the situation(s), supporting cast or the writing. I agree with everyone there was nothing to like about the show, EXCEPT Lucy was in it. That's all I really needed. Sorry if you (and the viewing public at the time) needed more. She worked hard to put this product out in a time where what she was famous for had already been done time and again and new challenges were demanded by TV viewers. She was no less talented during her performances in this show than she was for those prior. Entertainment evolves and continues to. Mr. Cox, thank you SO much for sharing something I don't think I could find on my own. The time you took just to consider posting these episodes cannot be truly compensated by anything I write. You did something you didn't have to. And you did it for the benefit of people you will never meet. This interview truly was a "bonus." Thank you for your actions.

I always felt her comedy was diminished by her very much by the continues Demise of her speaking voice ..her voice was so low at this point she sounded deeper than Gale Gordon. Her hight pitch voice and laugh is what made her so funny during I love lucy and maybe the early years of the lucy show ..by 1968 she was very horse..

Years and decades of smoking cigarettes differently had an effect on her voice. However, her comedic timing was always excellent. IMHO.

Gale Gordon was pure class and talent. Too bad he's mostly known for the middling Lucy Show/Here's Lucy and that abominable Life With Lucy.

Gale and Lucy were great together, just like they always had been. The problem was the unfunny, largely forgettable supporting cast. Perhaps if it had just been Lucy and Gale getting themselves into situations with hilarious consequences, Life with Lucy would have had the potential to last for several seasons.
