It's not a Curse . God did it and their is wisdom behind every ailment . This life is a test and nobody will go through it unscathed. You dnt need to worry about things you can't control . Seek medical help if you can . This is a test . And you can pass it .

Surgery isn't the only way to treat it. There's a thing called a vacuum bell, it's a new treatment not prescribed much yet, but it's basically just a giant suction cup. Used for a long period of time, it can actually improve the condition.
@Sara-cg3nc
@Sara-cg3nc 6 ай бұрын
I used the vacuum bell pretty consistently for around 3 years and didn't see any results. I was 12 years old when I started using it so it probably helped reduce the sternum growth and prevent the pectus from worsening, but the deformity is still there. I'm looking into implant surgery to fix the aspect.

At this point, I am really annoyed with my doctors from when I was a kid until now. My family and I asked about this from the time I was young throughout my teens and into my early 20s. Every doctor I had said that there was not much that could be done to help this process. I could not do well in sports and was embarrassed (still am to some extent), I have had breathing problems since I was a kid. 10 years or so ago I had Blood Clots and I had a Pulmonary Embolism in 2020. The cardiologist who took the PE clots out of me asked me why I never fixed the Pectus issue. He said my blood flow would be better as well as my breathing. I am 52 now and thought that he was kidding when he recommended that we should explore options to have this fixed. He said that there would be massive pain at my age to do this but it could add 5-10 years of life. He also said that because of my clotting issues, I may not be a good candidate but he still wants to explore the option.

I feel you. I'm in my late forties and my pediatrician doused any chance I had getting corrective surgery when I was a teenager. I never did well at sports and it sucked being the weakest kid in school. My parents asked my doctor what could be done about my sunken chest and he said to just leave it alone rather than risk a "dangerous" surgery. Consequently I've never been able to build the chest strength a man my size should have. It also got me failed on every military enlistment physical. Doctors need to be better educated at how debilitating PE is and how important it is to get corrective surgery as early as possible.

I live in europe bitches it was freee 🙌🏼🙌🏼😂😂 Tbh i dont know why. The doc said i cant chose if i want the one where they make small slits or the one where they cut up my entire chest. Obviously i chose the one thats less visible but on the day of the survery the two docs who did the operation looked at my chest, talked a little and said theyre gonna do the one with the big cut. I dont know any specific reasons why because my chest wasnt that severe but its done now and i cant change it. At least my chest is flat and the scars schould lighten up because they sewn the cut with very thin cosmetic line or whatever its called the thing they sew with. So yeah its not that big of a deal and idk why...

As someone in elite football, I feel like I'm always a step behind the others because I can't catch my breath and can never achieve a desired level of fitness. It's so frustrating and embarrassing for me as a sportswoman, particularly when it rains and my jersey sticks to my chest. I feel like I can't concentrate on the game because I'm self-conscious that someone will notice. Don't even get me started on swimwear. I hope that with the Nuss surgery I'm due to have in a few months, not only will I become more self-confident in my appearance, but it will enable me to go further in soccer.

I just thought that I'm not working out in the right way and changed my workout plan, but later got busy in academics and job interviews. Now I'm 25 and I can see clear indentation on my chest, and the indentation is increasing. Recently this year i started having breathing problems, and facing difficulty in sleeping. I thought it won't worsen as I'm already adult and the bone structure should have been fixed, but this is worsening day by day and I can feel it.

I've had a mild to moderate form of this since childhood. I often have had bouts of shortness of breath, and my docs have always said there is nothing wrong with me and that its psychological. Perhaps it's not simply anxiety though, but rather, my pectus affecting my lungs. Make sense since the ribs are pressed inward against the lungs, seemingly preventing them from expanding as much as they would otherwise.

i have this. I was diagnosed years before this video. My doctor had been working with pectus excavatum for over 20 years and he claimed i had the most severe case he had ever seen. Ive had 2 surgeries and still have a "chest hole" to show for my lifetime of pain. not many people are aware this even exists

@@steelwitness Did you originally have a twist or a rotation in the sternum as well and maybe rib flare? A combination of deformities must be hard to correct in one surgery.

@Samuel Sägesser yes I have incredibly flared ribs combined with the concave chest. My right side ribs also sit slightly higher than the left which is most noticeable in my collar bone which is crooked.

Having this coupled with costocondritis absolutely sucks. My chest pain was so severe when I was younger it literally led to a 10 year battle with opiate addiction that destroyed my entire life.

Pei Ven it can help fore sure. Depending on how bad it is, it could really help. I had it my whole life. Then after I got the surgery, it was good, but kind of went back to the way it was. Maybe because I lifted weights about 3 months after my surgery, but I've also noticed that putting on muscle helps. Wish you the best of luck man

I had the surgery done a little over 3 months ago and I couldn't be happier with the results. Recovery is long but I havnt been in much pain at all. But no matter what you go through in regards to the surgery it is nothing compared to what you had to go through before having it done. Good luck to all who are getting the nuss procedure, it will be the best decision of your life.

I am 22 years old, I have had a pectus excavatum since childhood, pain in the heart area began about a year ago, arrhythmias, rapid heartbeat, and all this even without physical activity at rest. I am suffering, I went to all the doctors and they all told me that my heart and organs are healthy and there is no pathology, adding that my pectus excavatum also does not affect the pain. I’m tired of enduring and now I’m preparing for the Nuss operation, in the hope that this will help.

Almost 3 months have passed since the operation, I had a difficult case, they put 2 bars crosswise with a stabilizer. There were hellish pains in the first week. I no longer feel arrhythmias and daily discomfort and pain. I feel my heart rate 70% less. So far, there is periodic pain in the ribs, in the area of the stabilizer and along the plates; the restructuring of the organs is still ongoing. I hope to be fully recovered in 3 months. I did not regret having the surgery.

I have a severe case. 6.8 on the Haller Index. No one really knew when I was younger because girls dont have exams until their mid to late teens. I had no idea it was a 'thing' until I was an adult after being diagnosed with NSCLC (non small cell lung cancer as a non smoker). I had an upper left lobectomy and my heart completely shifted into my left chest causing even more issues. Now that Im 50, I am struggling even more to breath and looking into having this surgery as an adult. I wanted to wait until I was out of the cancer window at 5 years which is coming up. Anyone have surgery this late in life?

Just a note to all the people watching this, and wondering how dangerous this is, and if you could be at risk for shourtage of breath. I have this thing, and my chest dips in about 3cm, and i have had no problems with this. I can run for longer periods of time (I am a gamer, so i can't run forever) no problems working out, not realy any problem with the looks, aslloong as you make it cool. Forexample, pretending that you are IronMan, and making jokes of it, then generaly people wont care about it, and think it is just normal.

I have no doubt that the condition is causing breath problems, but i often think that people make it an excuse. So i would recomend just not thinking about it when you do different stuff, like exercising or such, helps me atleast. Best of luck getting it fixed.
