Speaker at SANDS www.scienceandn...
Jeff Foster studied Astrophysics at Cambridge University. In his mid-twenties, after a long period of depression and illness, he became addicted to the idea of 'spiritual enlightenment' and embarked on an intensive spiritual quest for the ultimate truth of existence.
The spiritual search came crashing down with the clear recognition of the non-dual nature of everything, and the discovery of the extraordinary in the ordinary. In the clarity of this seeing, life became what it always was: intimate, open, loving and spontaneous, and Jeff was left with a deep understanding of the root illusion behind all human suffering, and a love of the present moment.
He presently holds meetings, retreats and private one-to-one sessions around the world, gently but directly pointing people back to the deep acceptance inherent in the present moment. He helps people discover who they really are, beyond all thoughts and judgments about themselves, even in the midst of the stress and struggle of modern day living and intimate relationships.
Jeff's teaching style is direct and uncompromising and yet full of humanity, humor and compassion. He believes that freedom is everybody's birthright. He belongs to no tradition or lineage, and makes his teaching accessible to all.
Jeff was voted #51 on Watkins Review's 2012 list of the world's 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People. Jeff has published four books in over six languages. His latest book The Deepest Acceptance will be published in 2012 by Sounds True. - from www.lifewithout...

Jeff Foster presents a very understandable perspective on nonduality. (And even if that word doesn't work for you, words are just symbols so choose your own.) Who you REALLY are is allowing all that is to be in your life, to flow through you, and experience through you.

love this interview feels so different than the "wake up now" be in love, be high vibration, reject fear or any other low vibration message which often creates more shame/self-hate etc if one is experiencing anything other than total bliss all the time. On the other hand, a message such as this: "BE fully WHATEVER arises" seems a lot more loving and compassionate. Thanks for having the courage to be fully you Jeff Foster, and in doing so accepting others however it is they happen to appear.

The reason I asked that question is because i felt you two were prattling on, somewhat idealistically. the WHY behind my questioning you two is perhaps rooted in my own complacency, so i thank you for providing further opportunity to reflect upon that..

I just mean life as a general term for this 'thing' we're experiencing. It's true, we're all in the same boat - but some of us have filled it with all these shoddy items and taken them to be a part of the boat itself.

It is our subconscious beliefs around losing somebody that manifest the emotion of sadness in the body. No? If our beliefs around death reflect a higher consciousness, then we won't manifest sadness. I think we would manifest appreciation, love and gratitude knowing that that individuals mission is complete and they did there part on the physical realm and are moving on to the next service.

if you look carefully at jeff foster's message, and others who talk about living from your authentic loving self, you will notice that it is far more than simply getting what you want. LoA tends to appeal to those who are looking to feel better or have more. LoA is real and arises in consciousness.. but if it is seen as an end in itself, it is a trap.

Yes, it is all based on the law of attraction. Allowing is resting. Alllowing is sending your message of wishes out. Allowing is not clinging any more. Allowing is allowing yourself as who you really are which is allowance. Unconditional love is allowance. And don't resist the resistance as Adyashanti said. And like Jeff said allow the resistance as well, whatever is happening at that moment. My fear of presentations caused fear of fear, all that because of resistance to the state of fear.

I read something the other day which made some sense.Mystics are people whose primary focus is on being ala Eckart Tolle and people more Magically inclined tend to focus on creating or becoming something. Being and Becoming.The Law of Attraction seems to fall into the later camp? Of course were both.

the allowance is not something you do.you are the allowance. you are the awareness in which all the perceptions are appearing. if you do an act of allowance that allowance is happening in the Allowance that you are. You are awareness. a sound is heard. a view is seen. feelings are felt. thoughts are flowing are noticed. they all are allowed, they all happen, they all are noticed whether your thoughts allow it or not.

What about the idea that everything that happens, had already happened? That what "we" are experiencing is just, like a memory, or even a dream, illusion. Any ideas? Very confused, but also can't stop the search for what's Real. Would love to hear opinions of "others". 🙏

@Tessateaful
@Tessateaful 12 жыл бұрын
I am always puzzled to hear so many "new age" teachers talk about oneness while at the same time (often in the next sentence) talk about so called "negative" experiences and emotions that are to be avoided. isnt this hierarchy of states the definition of duality and the cause of further suffering?

Thank you Jeff for a very profound and honest account of what so many of us go through. I love your benign approach... Conceptual shift is a nice way of putting it (Walley666) - it's just another way to express the same thing. Whether we like it or not and as long as we take responsibility for what decisions we make 'it is as it is'. How we are affected (coping mechanisms) by our environment shapes our very reality. Rupert Sheldrake speaks of the same thoughts through metamorphic resonance.

Now really ask yourself WHY you would ask that question. Why do you bring the focus there? There are many people who grieve those things.If you ACTUALLY look into it, Alzheimer's is un-natural also. Yet all are created by a collective. Any dis-ease is unnatural...it is a state of being that is NOT AT EASE.Your comments are understandable , but are filled with your own frustrations in life.

I think his "allowing-theory" is almost the same as the law of attraction. if you think positiv, you'll get positive outcomes..if you think negative, tough, you'll get negative effects. I might be wrong, but to me, it seems like he is trying to explain this principle (law of attraction) with his own words and trough his own experience. :/

@david203
@david203 9 жыл бұрын
Connie Fox Some people become willing when their addictions and distractions finally and completely fail. Others get ready by being inspired or guided by a teacher they resonate with. A very few have spontaneous enlightenment, such as through a traumatic event such as a traffic accident or a 'mental breakdown'. Sri Nisargadatta said that longing for freedom, peace, or happiness, or being earnest in self-inquiry (self abidance) was necessary. When one feels the desire to make real progress, the means become available. It can be surprisingly easy to get started.
