I was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer February 16,2023. I was not a candidate for the surgery because the cancer spread too much. I was given 4-6 months to live and I’m still here 16 months later and in remission! Not sure how long it will last but I’m working towards my first 5k this fall! Still traumatized tho.

Luk (49 yo male) from Belgium here. Almost 1 year ago I was diagnosed with stomachcancer adenocarcenome at the stomach entrance (cardia). Gastrectomy after chemo. All seems fine at this moment. Eating doggybag the next day 😂 is necessary. I had 4 chemo sessions followed by surgery. No follow up treatment because the disection of all extracted tissues showed no spread. When I read up on testimonies I realise I’m very fortunate having had treatment in the finest university hospital. No fizzy drinks on heavy alcohol for me anymore. I can still play lead Guitar in my coverband.

Thank you so much 👍🏼👏🏻🌼🌺 I had an operation on Feb 3rd of 2021 for GERD and while 4 hours into it , found that I had LINITIS PLASTICA a form of cancer. They removed my stomach and part of my esophagus and attached the small intestine but they had to remove my spinster ,,, and. now I can't sleep lying down. I must sleep almost sitting up or my food will come back up. Everything you say about eating is my life. No drink and food at the same time. No eating after 6pm or I end up with my food coming back. My problem still today is that I have a J-Tube attached to my stomach area where Im trying to get rid of by learning how to eat by mouth. I don't drink enough liquid and I have to put water in the J-Tube. I have derived much info from your video and know that I am not alone in this journey😃😃😃🌻💐 Thank you ,,,blessings,,,, Irene

You beat it!! This gives me so much hope!!! I have been searching for more current survivor stories. I'm so scared. I feel disconnected from everyone. I'm snappy. I feel hopeless. I just want to sleep through it all. My issues started the day I had an endoscopy. I was left with burning pain in my stomach. Not a day off. From that scope, they said I had an unknown bacteria and said it was probably H. Pylori and chronic gastritis. I was treated for it TWO years later. The pain persists. I was put on a long-term PPI but it was stopped earlier this year. That's when everything changed. Rapidly. I've lost over 50 pounds. I have this deep feeling of what people call indigestion. I don't know what that feels like. It's there all day whether I eat or not. Which I rarely eat. I get full on a tbsp of food or extremely ill. It wasn't until I lost massive weight that they were concerned. 4.5 years from the day this all started.

Hi, yes I beat it! I’m now 5 years cancer free. If you go on Instagram and search the hashtag stomachless you’ll find lots of people like me. There always hope. I know it feels like a really dark season but that doesn’t mean there no light at the end of the tunnel. I was tested for H Pylori as it’s common for that to turn cancerous. I didn’t have that, and I didn’t have any stomach cancer in my family. Try and keep positive. Have the mindset that you’re one day closer to getting better. Then you feel like you’re driving through a dark season rather than parking there. All the best!

You say to ask our questions if we had any but I noticed you don’t respond to the questions people have asked. It’s cool bro . Just thought I’d put it out there. I just had my stomach removed from gastric cancer I was stage 4 I had less than 2 months to live but I’m alive . God and my surgeon saved my life . Now the struggle is eating. Maybe one day you’ll respond so we can chit chat on how we can make our lives better. Wish you the best . Gos bless you and I’ll be waiting on a response, hopefully soon .

Hey Rafael! Great to hear from you. I try to respond to all questions. I often find I’ve missed some as KZbin doesn’t always notify me of them. The key to eating well is to eat little and often. Snack as much as possible you’ll never eat a full plate of food so I use a side plate. I’ll have a small breakfast, then snack around 10:30, small lunch snack around 3:30 and then a small dinner. Wishing you all the best! I was diagnosed 5 years ago today. It gets easier!! Keep positive!

Hey @flurelledsouza wow, so you’re currently in the eye of the storm! That’s the worst part trying to heal and recover whilst being on chemo is very hard. It gets much better!! I suppose it’s a bit like being in an accident and losing a leg. You first need to recover then you slowly learn how to walk again with a prosthetic, after a while you realise you’re walking and eventually you start to run. It’s never the same as before but you can still run eventually. It took me about 5-6 months to get back to work and about 2 years before I was completely used to it.

I'm booked in for my total gastrectomy next month. Im pretty young (23) and active, so I was wondering how your journey back to physical activity was, and what sort of timeframe im looking at to get back to my favourite sports. Did you notice any muscle loss post surgery, and do you think gaining as much musle before the surgery could be a good thing? My favourite sports are cricket and rock climbing, do you see any reason i cant return to these sports from your experience? Thanks so much for these videos, and thanks for taking the time to reply. Cheers
@JimmiClarkeDeeperIntoBass
@JimmiClarkeDeeperIntoBass Жыл бұрын
Hey Darcy, you’ll be fine to do these activities in the future. Dylan Davison has done Iron man competitions without a stomach and finished in the first quarter. The operation is major surgery so the recovery time from that is at least a month but the main thing and hardest thing you have to get used to is eating and controlling energy levels. This takes a good while for your body to adjust to and is very odd at first but week by week it gets easier.

One more question, I hope you don’t mind. When you first started to eat solids, did it hurt (swallowing - digesting)?
@JimmiClarkeDeeperIntoBass
@JimmiClarkeDeeperIntoBass 7 ай бұрын
It will hurt if you don’t chew! Chew your food right up so it isn’t solid and swallow small amounts. If I get digestive pain it’s because I haven’t chewed! I used to forget all the time, I was considering getting a ‘Chew your food’ tattoo on my hand to remind me.

One question for you, I've had a Total Gastrectomy a little more than a year ago and I'm still having a problem with eating but nothing I can't deal with and have put close to 10 lbs back on, but the strange thing is that I am making iron without infusions. Did you have any problems with your iron after the surgery?
@JimmiClarkeDeeperIntoBass
@JimmiClarkeDeeperIntoBass Жыл бұрын
I’ve never had an iron infusion, there have been a couple of times when my iron levels got low and left me feeling very weak but I just took over the counter vitamin and iron tablets and drank the odd pint of Guinness for a couple of weeks.

Hello Jimmi congratulations on your recovery. I have not had quite the battle you went thru, little over a year ago had more than half my stomach and my esophagus valve removed, but struggling to put weight on. each day i tell myself am going to try and eat more out in the end have a little breakfast( cereal or something else with sugar) then at night for dinner again think i will try a meal but end up with soup. wondering if you could give me some advise on how you handle the eating. mayy God bless and stay on the path of good health.

I just eat little and often. Don’t drink for at least 30 mins after you eat and try to have a high fat content to start with. It takes time to heal both physically and mentally so remember to be kind to yourself. It’s such a big learning curve with so many new lessons to learn and things to understand but try and enjoy the adventure. So many people do great after surgery google Steve Dang and Dylan Davison. Those guys really inspire me. Just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward!!

It didn’t take long for me to start eating food I liked. After surgery there wasn’t a lot of food I wanted to eat. After a few weeks I started to eat a bigger variety of foods and gradually more of it. I think your body knows what it needs so don’t worry too much about it.
